My Gemma Kitty Has Three Little, What I Thought Was, Scabs On Her Forehead. One By …

My Gemma Kitty has three little, what I thought was, scabs on her forehead. One by each “eyebrow” and one in the center of her brows. Over the last few days, this spot has been getting worse. I called my local vet and they said they can’t get her in until 2/3! I just got home from work and this spot is bleeding, maybe a little Puss too! I’m so worried. Any ideas? Should I go to emergency vet?

    Hello,
It is not possible to diagnose via a photo. I’m sorry. But that does look very fresh and I would say concerning. For cases like these I do a thorough exam and ask about possibility of allergies or ectoparasites. I also look at the ears and try to identify the source of the itching or irritation. If your vet can’t see you soon you might have to go to an er. Or even find a different vet. I’m sorry I can’t offer more advice. It’s imperative to figure out why she is scratching this area to stop it.

Thanks Krista. I’m going to head to the ER vet. I’m so worried, I’ve been in tears. The one I am familiar with in Hickory is closed tonight! I’ll have to try the one by the Harford mall. I’m not going to be able to sleep if I don’t go. Thanks again. Merry Christmas!

A Few Of My Co-workers And I Have Been Taking Care Of Some Feral Cats That …

A few of my co-workers and I have been taking care of some feral cats that hang around my office. Those co-workers have since moved on. So that leaves me with the expenses of food and such. I’m doing my best to keep up because I truly care for these cats. I would like to get some flea and tic medicine on them…. They do allow me to get near them and also pet them, just for a minute though! Anyone know where to find highly discounted meds for them?

If you have a hard time handling then then the best option might be comfortis. Otherwise the spray version of frontline is very affordable but not easy to apply.

I may have to try the comfortis… does that prevent ticks, too? Do you ever have discounted meds at your facility? My work is a few miles down Norrisville.

Good morning???? You might also want to contact local rescue organizations. They may have an in with a TNR group to get these cats fixed and help control the cat population from expanding. They also may be able to get you needed help in caring for this colony.

Thank you. I did have them fixed about 3 years ago with a TNR group. Several of them… these are the only two left. It’s Momma and Daughter. But I will check to see if any local rescue groups offer any assistance. Thanks again!

What Are Your Recommendations To Comfort Dogs During Thunderstorms And Fireworks? My Mother-in-laws Dog Is Petrified …

What are your recommendations to comfort dogs during thunderstorms and fireworks?
My mother-in-laws Dog is petrified over loud noises and hides, shakes, growls, gets very very panicked… etc. You can’t even hold him and try to comfort him when he gets this way. She has tried the thunder blanket and that didn’t work. He’s actually starting to freak out as soon as it gets dark.
Is there any over the counter meds available that would relax him? If so what and how much for a 19lb dog? Can dogs have Xanax or Valium?

    Hello,
I actually offer a lot of advice to clients. First I try a thunder shirt and recommend putting a cage or crate in the darkest quietest part of the house with heavy blankets on top to dampen the noise. I also recommend that you talk to your vet about medications that might help. There is a huge assortment of things you can try. They can discuss lots and lots of options from things like antihistamines to prescription medications like sileo or even diazepam etc. try to use background noise like a tv or radio and keep calm even if your pet isn’t. There are other options like DAP (a pheromone) or over the counter homeopathic options. It’s best to talk to your vet as there are a huge number of options and a huge range of patient needs.

Is it normal for a cat to stay still since he has a splint/cast on? I’m just wondering if that’s why he isn’t moving. Like he’s not sure what to do?
