Hi Cynthia, you probably won’t be able to tell shes pregnant just yet….shes not even half way through the 9 weeks they carry pups.

You may see a slight change in her nipples, perhaps they might be a little redder or bigger than normal but not even that really. Another 3 weeks and you should see some signs.

  2. cynthia moore

Perfect thanks yes her nipples are big and the last two look swollon a little is this normal when can I take her to a vet have u had chi babies before!?

  3. cynthia moore

And did u experience any complications of the chi’s birth

  4. julie brader

No I’ve never had Chi’s but all bitches carry them much the same. As for giving birth, did she mate with another Chi? If not puppies may well be too big for her to pass. I would make sure you have her checked by a Vet and one on hand when she goes into labour….these tiny breeds can have problems.
Make sure you worm the puppies when they are born at 2 weeks, 5 weeks, 8 weeks and every 3 weeks after that. Ask Vet about wormer for pups and mum will need worming too…all puppies have worms, they lay dormant in the bitch and pregnancy hormones bring them to life. They are passes to pups through placentas and mums milk. Good luck!!

  5. cynthia moore

Yes she tied many successful ties with another chi

  6. julie brader

Ok thats good at least they are the same size dogs. Hopefully she will have the pups with no problems but be aware that theu still may be too big for her to pass.

Hello Britanny…..have you vaccinated your dogs yourself? I believe you can do that in the States I’m in the UK and we can only have their shots at the Vet here….and theres always 2 injections not just one.

I’m so sorry to hear you have lost 2 of your 3 dogs to Parvo….., its a dreadful disease I know. You would be doing the right thing surrendering the puppy to a shelter. If he can be helped they would do that. You need to have a look in the phone book for Shelters in your area, give them a ring and see what they say. I only wish you could take this puppy to a Vet yourself and save him…at least you would have one dog left to love and receive it in return. Perhaps it may be worth phoning Vets too and ask if they could help you? Please do try, its very sad to think you will lose them all.

However if you do surrender this puppy to a shelter please please don’t get another puppy until you can afford to get its shots at a Vet and have enough funds for its future health care.

I wish you good luck and thank you for putting your puppy first.

Check out wolf creek they have a few things you can try. Or take to the vet they will put on an IV and it can be pricey

Hi! I have the same problems when putting drops for an ear infection in the ears. Always a battle..but now, I wait till he is relaxed and sleeping beside me..I use a thin syringe (without the needle of course) and I do it when he is sleeping..so much easier..the bottle they give the drops in, doesn’t go deep enough into the ear that is why I use a thin syringe.

you can do passive restraint by holding his snout, and give him a great reward when done. Dogs ears are hard to clean, and need to be done until the problem is resolved.

2 yr old female dog. Normally super active is very sluggish and will only eat if hand fed will not drink

This is concerning if it lasts more than a day. Did the dog get into anything? Dont worry about food as much as water.  If you can get smart water, it is water with electrolytes in it and will help with dehydration,.

  2. Brian Delesandro

Haven’t seen her get into anything. She has a hard time jumping onto the couch which is her bed. Seems she is favoring her back end

  3. Lisa Pfab

Then I would assume she is in pain, if she is able to move then give her crate rest, complete rest for a few days.

  4. Loz McGaffin

Hello Brian, generally if a dog is off its food(when usually a healthy eater) it can suggest pain, and if she is favouring her back end it could be very likely that she has thrown her back out(especially if,as you mentioned, she is normally really active) this is only a suggestion of course,it also could be internal(constipation?) I’d get always intouch with your vet if you have reason to be continually worried, but hopefully it IS something less threatening, such as a slipped disc, which can right itself within a few days. (Panadol is safe for dogs, for moderate pain,at a rate of 25/30 mg per kg)Also watch for her toilet habits,if she can’t ‘go’ a dose of oil will help move things along(just house hold variety olive/veg oil,can work and is safe.(depending on her size,I’d start a dose at about a t-spoon per 10kg,and work from there over a col of days.I hope some of this helps, but please remember,it’s just my suggestions, going on the small amount of information you gave. I’d certainly call a vet if she doesn’t perk up soon.

    Cheers,Lori ?

  5. Loz McGaffin

P.s. a basic way to check for pain,is with their temps.this can be done an old fashioned way of gently feeling inside her ears for over heat, paws also for more than normal warmth. But you can also gently perform rectal temp check, with a normal(disinfected)thermometer.no more insertion than about 2cm.normal parameters for a healthy dogs temp is 38.3 to 38.7*℃ ?.best of luck with your girl.

I have 4 dogs and I keep them separated when not at home. It hasn’t changed the way they act towards each other when I am home. Pets in some ways are like people and like time to themselves. In my experience my pets don’t seem to mind having a little alone time. And it does prevent the more aggressive ones from bullying the others when I can’t supervise.

Hi Zoe…Bit of a mystery! I assume bloods covered her kidneys; bladder, liver?

Have you taken a urine sample of testing?

Ia she drinking more than normal? Has she been tested for diabetes?

Has she been spayed? If not possible uterine infection?

Other than that I hope our Vet Krista answers!

    Hope your Cocker recovers soon!

  2. zoe rich

Hi julie she had full blood tests done all clear a full urine test sent away all came back clear
x ray done all clear.. she has been spayed she has been tested for kidney diabetes everything.. im really at a loss somtimes there is blood in her urine other times not she doesnt know if she wants a wee or poo or both sometimes but more recently she has started drinking water as soon as she has had a wee.. i think i may have to visit a different vet to get a second oppinion
    as this needs resolving

  3. julie brader

Hi Zoe….right so all the tests are clear. Blood in the urine occasionally too? Somethings going on then….

This might sound silly but when you said she doesn’t know if she wants a wee or a pooh? That smacks of pressure somewhere to me…possibly her spine….but that doesn’t account for the blood in her urine does it. Are you sure the blood is in her urine and not coming from her bottom? Any blood in her pooh at all? Could it be a bowel problem?  Is she in pain, back slightly hunched over? Shes moving and jumping on sofa with no problems?

Have you considered a referral to a specialist for an MRI scan? Might be the only way to find out whats wrong. Presume shes insured? Think I would try a different Vet anyway to be honest.

I have two Cockers by the way…..!  I do hope you find out whats wrong, bless her….they are a worry aren’t they?

  4. zoe rich

So, We Have A Kitten About 4 To 5 Months. We Noticed That For The…

So, we have a kitten about 4 to 5 months. We noticed that for the past couple of weeks, his stomach grows bigger and bigger. Now, his rear legs and tail are paralyzed. So, he walks with his two front legs and drags his rear legs. Also, he would always eat whenever we give him food. However, we noticed that he haven’t urinated or discharged. We would put him inside a box, so he could sleep. As he tries to sleep, his hands would shake every now and then. We also noticed that his heart beats fast sometimes, even when he’s sleepin’. And, he doesn’t have any voice when he speaks. I don’t know if it’s odd that he kneads and purrs, especially with his condition. So, today’s his 3rd day and nothing have changed. I tried lookin’ for any reasons behind his condition or what it’s called, but I couldn’t find any. We couldn’t bring him to the vet, especially because of the weather right now here. And, my Dad thinks it’s expensive and it would cost a lot of money if we bring him to the vet.

    Hello Alya

This cat needs a Vet URGENTLY right now!!! hes in critical condition and you cannot leave him suffering like this.

His stomach is probably full of urine if he hasn’t urinated….leave him much longer and his bladder will burst.

Take him to a Vet now…emergency.I’m sorry but you should not have pets if you are not prepared to give them the correct care. Its cruel to leave your cat in pain. VET NOW.

  2. Aleia Samonte

    Alright, thank you so much.

  3. Aleia Samonte

Well, his stomach becomes a bit smaller now. And, he had urinated and defecated yesterday. Also, we saw his legs moved one time.

  4. julie brader

And you still haven’t taken him to the Vet?? Whether hes urinated or not this kitten is in pain! Hes paralysed!! How long are you going to leave him suffering? I’m sorry but when you get a pet it’s your responsibility to mske sure its in good health and has medical care when needed. Please! Take this cat to the Vet!!!!

have you taken this puppy to the vet?  that’s the best way to ensure your puppy gets the care it needs.

  2. brittany phillips

6my local vet wants 250$ deposit not including treatment my parents won’t pay this which leaves me to figure it out on my own

  3. brittany phillips

I don’t know anything about veterinary medicine so I won’t pretend to . But I gave the titan the best care I could around the clock care every hour on the hour with fluids and medicine to combat the symptoms . He fought it very hard for 4 days but I guess I just didn’t do enough .. I do blame myself because I couldn’t get him the vet care . I hate that he passed in any kind of pain but I did make sure he didn’t go alone I held him rocked him sung to him . I didn’t have him long . He wasn’t even my dog but I loved him like family and I cared for him as much as I could . I regret all of the things that happened but I don’t regret loving him.
