Can you take her in and have the vet or technician so you how to wrap it? Or use a t-shirt/dressing to cover it safely.

  2. PK Dennis

How could just wrapping this be the answer?  Looks like it needs a major repair!

Yes she had a X-ray and said it was Brocken but I have had dogs all my life and could see that the dogs leg was not out of place and she was running on all fours so can you tell me how the dog could run and jump with no sign of pain

I have seen animals run around and act normal after their leg is splinted. Can’t say that I have ever seen a dog run around with a fractured leg and not limp or hold the leg up. Even dogs with toe fractures hold their legs up.

He has been to the vet stayed all weekend long but is there like something to spray on it so it gets better

  2. chad perry

    Use an antiseptic
solution or plain water and gauze or a cloth (not cotton) to gently
clean around the wound, and a syringe or similar device to flush the
solution over the surface of the wound. Antiseptic solutions are made by
diluting concentrated solutions bought at the store that contain either
povidone iodine or chlorhexidine diacetate as the active ingredient. Do
not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the wounds, as these will
actually damage the tissue and then put so antibacterial ointment on it and rap it with gauze and change it every day till its healed

Thanks so much I was told to use some kind of horse spray but I was so afraid it would feel like putting alcohol on it he is using it fine and its hardly licking and has no sign of infection at least I haven’t let him outside either he hates that too so thanks a lot I will do that

  4. amy meggs

Oh you said to wrap it well I’m having problems doing that well the vet did that it lasted half a day he sat and chewed it off and it wouldn’t stay up at top and kept falling and rubbing the spot

  5. Kelly Furgason

If your vet said to wrap it, make sure you put the cat in an ecollar so that he cannot get the wrap off. Your vet can give you “vetwrap” to use. It’s self sticking wrap that won’t fall down.

She Has Sores In Ears & Swollen Neck & Face. Could This Be Strangles? Ears…

She has sores in ears & swollen neck & face. Could this be strangles? Ears are oozing and pup is lethargic. I have limited income for vet and would like to walk back in with an idea. It reads like some descriptions of Strangles, just backwards from how I read it.

She felt where the injury was and decided that the treatment would be the same because it wasn’t snapped. wrapped, pain meds and revisit in a week. Now with added symptoms I am glad she didn’t add the expense.

  2. Laura Kyle

She might need further diagnostics. Maybe her initial pain was related to the joint pain? I would have bloodwork done and perhaps survey X-rays. Good luck! I hope she improves

Thank you, but I do not live near a vet. I am wondering if it is possible to cure it without consulting a vet. It seems that respiratory infection is lethal and I want to save it as soon as possible

My cat has a black spot on her back that looks a little like dirt. I don’t see any fleas. What is it?

    Hello,
It could very well be flea dirt. If you can use a flea comb you can check better for fleas. They are fast and sometimes not easy to see if it’s not a heavy infestation. Are you currently using any flea medication on her?

Thank you so much. I have emailed pretty much every clinic in Maine. I filled out that application for the vet billing solution. At your clinic is there a payment plan available? I have also read that at some places if you receive food stamps they will also help you. But Smoky hasn’t been neutered and they all require she be neutered. I absolutely hate when animals are in pain and I’m trying to find something to do for her but I am financially unable to pay for a $200 vet bill.

Tx! Of the litters that turned out to be -, did you mean after being retested at 6 mths? I’m aware of causes of false+, but was wondering what the stats are on kittens who initially test -, then turn out to be + when retested at 6 mths.

Because of the stigmas and misunderstanding related to FIV, even if the litter is negative initially, we always test again at 6 months just to be sure although it’s most likely not necessary.

I’ve personally never heard from anyone in rescue about a litter initially testing negative and then testing positive later and I’ve never read any literature describing that scenario either.

I think that false positives are the overwhelming issue.

I’d be 100% comfortable adopting a kitten that tested negative from a FIV
positive mom … but for what it’s worth, I’d also be comfortable
adopting an FIV positive kitten or adult as well. 🙂

Thanks for your helpful reply….and for whatever it’s worth, we adopted a kitten last year with FeLV ,which I know is quicker to kill) who died 10mths later-it was my 9 and 6 yr old’s first pet, and while we’re glad to have given her a happy, albeit short life, it ripped our hearts out to have to put her down 2 days before her first birthday and that’s just not a scenario I am willing to replicate for my family. Thanks so much for your help-this is a great service!
