Shes been vaccinated im iffy on spaying her my 3 year old brother plays with her and wont understand that shes in pain. I will see how long my waiting list is that the vet

You control the interactions between her and your brother, NOT the baby. Keep them separated until she’s fully healed. Spay her NOW – the world has entirely too many unwanted kittens in it already. Tell the vet it’s an emergency. And please, keep her inside.

    Hello,
Please see your get for helping to get your cat diagnosed and prepared for whateveright be at hand. It is also imperative hat she be vaccinated and spayed ASAP. .

  4. Cheyenne Elliott

She just sat on my arm and it got wet…. she then started cleaning herself down there…. what is going on?!

  5. Cheyenne Elliott

My brother controls homself. He doesnt listen. Im not going to keep her locked up and left out because of it. Not to mention i dont let her outside she sneaks out. Hasnt gotten the chance since. If she is pregnant
I plan on keepin all the baby’s

  6. Shiria

Get her spayed as soon as possible. Better to keep her locked up for 14 days than to risk her life every time she gets in heat!
She depends on you to care for this and ti is your responsibility to superviye your brother when he plays with her.

We have a cat at the shelter that gave borth to 4 kittens – it was a planned pregnancy. Shew was extremly protecting of her babies and attacked ther previous owners daughter. The owner herself said that she didn’t supervise everything the daughter did – so it is possible that one of the babies meeowed and the mother cat worried and attacked.
By the way – she is the sweetest cat ever now that she’s in our shelter with her kittens – and the previous owner also said that she’s extremly sweet expect this one time. And they risked all this just because they didn’t spay her.
So if she starts to get babies – never let you brother alone near her! You will have to control their interactions for even longer now, as if you just got her spayed.
After spaying you have to control them for 7-14 days, if she has babies you have to control that for at least 3 month, depeneding on her behaviour even longer.

So please get her spayed. We have so, so many kittens every year in our shelter, we don’t need any more!

  7. Krista Magnifico

And what happens when all the babies start having babies? In one year you will have 6 cats. In two years you could have 20. From here it could be close to a hundred a year. The average cost for a cats care in the first year is about $300 to $500. It is time to start thinking about your pets andyour responsibilities as a pet parent. And ask your parents for help in getting her spayed and vaccinated immediately.

To answer your question: we don’t know what’s going on. You need to take your cat to the vet and get her spayed ASAP. They will tell you what’s going on.

8 Year Old Shih-tzu Maltese Diagnosed With A Bulging Disc 🙁 Hi, Thank You For Making…

8 year old Shih-tzu Maltese diagnosed with a bulging disc 🙁

Hi, thank you for making all of the videos on youtube. I have found them very helpful with my little guy Benson…it’s nice to see a vet that goes the extra mile for their patients. Our vet clinic is also caring and affordable as well, which is hard to find these days.

Benson is a miracle dog. He has already survived a grade 2 mast cell inguinal tumor so Cornell and our local vet love him and call him their miracle dog (this was 2.5 years ago)

Now for his most recent issue which is why I’m writing; For a week, he was dragging his front left paw. We took him to our vet (on Monday, March 19th) and she diagnosed him with arthritis….things got worse throughout the week to the point where he would knuckle his front left paw. Our vet had only told us to limit his activity and no jumping so we didn’t restrict him to a crate. By Sunday morning (March 25th) (and he was on 5mg of prednisone since Monday) his back left paw was now knuckling and he was getting worse to the point where he could barely stand up.
We took him back to the vet and they did x-rays and found a bulging disc right around his shoulder blades. He has been on 10mg of prednisone, Methocarbamol, gabapentin and in a crate 24/7 ever since Sunday the 25th. Luckily, he is really only affected on his left side of his body.

We are seeing a little bit of improvement at times and at other times, he is still just as bad as he was on Sunday.

He has never lost the ability to pee or defecate (thankfully) annnnd Benny loves to eat (or drink) so that will never be an issue haha…

However what worries me is the fact that he is ALWAYS as stiff as a board in the morning when we get up or when he gets stressed/excited. It’s as if he re-injures himself because he can’t walk and can barely stand. It takes him at least an hour to recover, stop panting and then relax again until it seems like he is not in pain anymore….

Is there anything we can do to prevent the “morning/excited episodes” or is it all just part of the process? I thought the muscle relaxer would help but it isn’t. I have even gone so far as to put signs on our front door asking visitors to not knock or ring the doorbell.

Last question-do you have an opinion about a dog chiropractor?

Any advice you could give, we would appreciate! We love our little guy-he has such a personality and adds so much fun to our lives.

Thanks so much,
Megan and Missy

    Hello,
Thanks for being such a kind parent and for all of the nice things you commented on. I think that some of the morning stuff is normal and that the pain has been unmedicated overnight sonit often takes a little while after the morning meds to see them relax and feel better. I think asking about acupuncture is a better place to start than chiropractic help. By massage is also beneficial. Also aquatherapy when she feels stronger might also help her recovery. You can also ask about laser therapy. I hope this helps. Very best of luck.

    Hello,
This is a question for someone who focuses on plants. I would try to call a local plant or lawn person or even your local co-op extension. You could even try one of the agricultural universities. I’m sorry but this question might be beyond the scope of the experts here?

My 13 Yr. Old Cocker Has Sebaceous Gland Tumors. We Have Opted Not To…

My 13 yr. old cocker has sebaceous gland tumors. We have opted not to operate. One tumor has a very foul odor. Any way to lessen that? Do we just keep her on antibiotics?

    Hello,
I’m sorry to hear about your pup. Why have you declined surgery? I wouldfear that the foul odor is due to infection? In these cases I always suggest removing them as there is no other way to manage the infection. In the long run that mighteven be cheaper than antibiotics indefinitely. At my clinic we can often manage these for a few hundred dollars.

    Hello,
This is never an easy answer. Here’s what I tell my clients.
    1. Start with a good thorough examination at your vets office.
    2. Run senior bloodwork to check thyroid and blood pressure.
    3. Look for any evidence of joint pain or disease
    4. Keep the litter box really clean. Scoop daily. Dump and clean box weekly.
    5. Make sure there are ample boxes for the number of cats you have. Ideally two for the first Cat and an extra for each additional Cat.
    6. Get a low sided big box. No cover. See if they like this size better
    7. Try play sand or potting soil. See if they like this better than the clumping litter which is often super dusty and perfumed (both of which cats hate).
    8. Make sure the box is in a safe quiet place. Not near an outlet or appliance or hidden away someplace scary
    9. Often I see this happen in older cats who know they are supposed to go inside the box but it hurts too much to get into it. So they go near it.
See if these help. Let us know.
Please also know that your cat is trying to tell you something. So it may take a little time and detective work to figure that out. By there is always a reason why.

Not a lot of information here. In general, cats who stop or refuse using the litter box might do so because of pain. Cats get arthritis too. I’d start with a medical evaluation.

I’ve Just Brought Indigo, My 3.5-year-old Male Cat, From My Father’s Acreage To My One-bedroom…

I’ve just brought Indigo, my 3.5-year-old male cat, from my father’s acreage to my one-bedroom city apartment which I share with two cats already. I knew it would be a handful going in, but Indigo is very, very important to me and I desperately want him to have the longest, healthiest and most love-filled life possible; he was primarily outside, even during cold Canadian winters, and unless I was home to visit, and my father is a way very often which causes me to worry about my pets that get left behind. Indigo’s an extremely confident and friendly cat and I think things have gone quite well considering how huge of a change it’s been. He does not hide, he’s eating and drinking, playing, etc., and is getting less freaked out by traffic noise and neighbors with each passing day. All three cats are getting along very well, although it’s very crowded and I do realize I may need to rehome one of my cats to improve the quality of life for all of them, as well as myself. I also intend to take him out to a park across the street on a harness once it is warmer out so that he still gets to enjoy the outdoors like at home.
My concern is that Indigo’s personality seems to have changed a bit, especially towards me. It’s like he hasn’t forgiven me for bringing him here. He and I have had a special bond and it’s heartbreaking for me to think he’s not happy here, or that I may have harmed our bond. He is usually the sweetest, happiest and most loving cat, but he hasn’t been very cuddly with me, or really responding/purring when I pet him. I’ve had friends over and he seems to much friendlier with them, even literally walking over me to go sit with someone else. He still sleeps next to me at night, but he just lays down instead of cuddling/kneading first. I’m doing everything I can to make him happy, and I know its still very early on in the new situation to tell (been here less than a week), but I just can’t help but feel that I’ve ruined our bond by bringing him here to keep him safe. How best can I maximize his quality of life and win back my cat’s love?

    Hello,
First of all I applaud your devotion to your cats. As you mention he seems to be acclimating amazingly well. Please understand that this is in my opinion the most important part of this situation. Secondly, I do not believe that cats are capable of punishing or holding grudges. So I don’t think that this should be a reason to explain his change in behavior.
Cats are very intuitive and intelligent creatures. He is doing the best he can and he sounds like he is excelling in his ability to adapt and overcome big (really big) changes. Please don’t take anything personally. He doesn’t love you less he just has had to learn to survive differently. Be proud of him for this and be patient. It is the most important part of being a parent. Loving unconditionally and staying devoted through thick and thin. Best of luck.

My 9 Year Old Boxer Had MCT (benign) Surgery On Her Side In The Fall…

My 9 year old Boxer had MCT (benign) surgery on her side in the Fall. Its been healed for months. Overnight a very large growth appeared at the incision site. Egg sized. Its firm and a little warm. The dog is acting normally. Is this urgent? The soonest I can get into my vet is a week from now. I explained the issue when I called the vet’s office, sent pictures and was told it’s not urgent. Perhaps they are thinking its a seroma? Is it okay to wait so long to see a vet? (I like my vet and really don’t want to be a nuisance–nor do I want my pet’s health to suffer.)

    Hello,
I am not sure if this is urgent or not as I don’t know what the swelling is due to. Is there any way your vet can refer you to someone who can see you sooner. Just to look at the incision? Hopefully it isn’t anything serious.. but you cannot be sure until your vet (or a vet) looks at it.

  2. L Baker

Thanks so much for the response. I do feel like my dog should be seen sooner but didn’t want my vet to think I was pushy. Thanks for the suggestion to just ask her for a referral.

  3. L Baker

So, just to update, the swelling was a very large post surgical abcess. While I was trying to find a different vet who could see me sooner than my regular vet, the abcess ruptured. My dog was in a lot of pain. I regret not being more persistent with my own vet. When I called and told my regular vet about the rupture, I then got in on an urgent basis. Next time I’ll know to just be a pushy nuisance when I think something is really wrong. I am just sorry I made my dog suffer. (She is now on antibiotics, warm compresses etc and seems to be getting better. Fingers crossed.) Thanks again Dr. Magnifico for the advice.
