I called my vet and was told that since she was only throwing up just give it a couple days. She was acting like my other cat did when she threw up worms so I got her drontal. She’s drinking a bit of water today and has been out more walking around the house but still not eating.

There’s a VERY good chance it is, in fact, allergies…the question is whether this is environmental or related to food.

So, here’s an easy thing to rule out: what does your dog eat?  If a dry kibble, what brand and formulation?  Chances are you need to pick up a higher quality food with a novel protein.  I would try something with zero corn or other grains and a protein source that *isn’t* chicken or beef.  Ideally the food will have meat as the first three ingredients.

While you’re working on a food change, wash your dog’s paws every time she comes inside from the yard.  Give them a good rinse with apple cider vinegar, too.

Finally: involve the vet.  Depending on the severity of the reaction, your dog may very well need meds to get past this initial itchy spot.

This will not help the itch. Fix the itch, fix the chewing.

Without actually seeing the incident, we cannot say what exactly occurred.  Did you and your daughter miss body language indicating your dog didn’t want to be cuddled?  Does your dog feel unwell?  

Has she ever growled at the child, and if so, have those growls been met with respect or with punishment?  

You need need NEED a behaviorist IN your home assessing the situation appropriately.  Until then, keep the child on a short leash around the dog.

Find another vet, get a second opinion.

If ANYTHING changes, even if they become slightly lethargic, rush them to the vet. Otherwise you might be in the clear.

No, unfortunately. I’ve not had to worry about this…I would ask the vet.

The best way to tell if your cat is pregnant is to take her to a vet for an exam.  However, if you are correct about the ten weeks then she should have had the kittens by now.  I recommend taking her to a vet for an exam and to get her spayed.

Yoriko, at any point have you gone through obedience classes with him?  Was he socialized with other dogs as a very young puppy?

I feel grief for you.  Are you sure they weren’t poisoned ?. You really need to get with the vet to find a cause and reason…even autopsy. I had a litter of cats die at one time and turned out to be rat poison by a neighbor.  Listen to the previous vet and find the cause. I’m so very sorry for your loss. There is a reason and a cause. I wish you relief.

Why would you want to do this? Revolution kills every thing that Frontline does, plus it kills ear mites, mange, and round worms.  These are very toxic chemicals you are dealing with – would you double dose a child with them?  Of course not, so why even consider doing it to your dog?

Just use the Revolution once a month and forget the Frontline.

As long as she just bit it she should be okay – may have some swelling in her mouth.  If she ate it she needs a vet.
