He’s had a fecal and they said it was fine. I can feel his backbone, ribs, and hip bones. He gets fed daily and water daily. I’m not sure what to do? He won’t gain and he isn’t feeling well today.

Anonymous surely they’ve done more than just a fecal…have they done any bloodwork? how much are you feeding, and what food? how old is he? i would push the issue with your vet…if he is truly skinny, they should be alarmed.

Dana Willett No my vet didn’t really do blood work on him. They did a skin scrapping. He came to me with mites. He’s eating blue mountain. I feed him twice a day about a cup of food. He’s 7-8 months old and I’ve had him since November.

Anonymous i would discontinue the use of Blue Buffalo food. there is a huge lawsuit/settlement going on right now regarding questionable ingredients.

Dana Willett I did switch temporarily to a diet from shoprite and was planning on going back to blue mountain food. It’s a 5/5 rating. It’s just very expensive.

Pulsar by Horizon is a decent brand and can be purchased online.
i tried Nature’s Logic recently and was pleased with it – i will be adding it to my regular rotation
Acana and Orijen are fantastic foods but may be too rich for your puppy.
Annamaet is popular with sport dog owners and is considered a good food – i believe it’s made in Pennsylvania. -

Dana Willett How fast is delivery? Honestly I’m not really a fan of the vet I go to but it’s because of my dad that I go there. He’s stuck in his old ways and I feel like he’d be weird if I wanted to switch. Any suggestions? Does anyone know of any good vets near Bethlehem that aren’t super over priced? I know he won’t go for it if they charge outrageous prices :).

Dawn Ferara, DVM She should be fine except it may cause GI (stomach) upset because it’s something different. My biggest concern is that yorkies tend to be small and an upset stomach could lead to dehydration etc. So, if she does have an upset stomach (vomiting and diarrhea) more than 1 or 2 episodes I would take her to the vet for treatment.

Our corgi has some emotional issues we deal with. She hides her head while going on car rides. She is not scared of the vehicle just the movement of the vehicle. When going outside to use the bathroom if any one is outside(neighbors) she will not go in front of them. If it is windy she turns and wants to go back in. Noises inside the house, computers, vacuums. beeping sounds, she will go to her crate to hide.

My cat tested positive for the toxin that is produced by clostridium perfringens. He has had diarrhea now for what seems like forever. He recently was treated with clindamycin for a staph infection in his urinary tract. While on this medicine it cleared up his diarrhea.. For about two months, then it started again. This is when I got a diarrhea panel done and it tested positive for the toxins.
We first tried metronidazole.. No success.
Right now he is on tylan powder and it’s been about a week. He is no longer going on the floor like usual, but I did notice little puddles of diarrhea In the litter boxes. I don’t believe it is any of my other cats because they never have had issues with diarrhea. Well tonight he threw up multiple times. It was mostly his cat food. And colored like his food. I waited about an hour and fed him a little more food which he kept down.
I did not give him his medicine tonight. I am going to call my vet in the morning.
The next step would be for him to go on clindamycin again. This was my vets last choice and she said she really didn’t want him to go on it again. Because it is not the safest medication for cats.
After this clears up he will be going on probiotics and a fiber supplement such as Metamucil.
I’m just really nervous about him being on clindamycin again. Have you seen this problem happen in cats before? Why is he not responding to any medication? Are there any other options? Ugh.

dakoda peterson I’m going to give you the best advice I can give. I have not experienced this personally but I’ve read a little about it.
1. Get an opinion from multiple vets not just one. Some veterinarians have more training in that area than others and some have better meds.
2. Start feeding your cat chicken baby food with rice it will be better for his intestines and less painful.
3.once you found a vet or you decide to stay with what ever vet ask them to retest for parasites. Sounds like he could have possible hookworms even though it’s uncommon he may have it on top of the toxin.
4. Get pedilite or something to help boost your cats electrolytes this is important because with that much diareah he could loose too much fluids.
5. Write down everything you cat does and what time so your vet knows what is going on. Include pee time, color and look of diareah, color of gums, his activity, his pain level, his playfulness. Everything he does while you are there.
And I can’t stress enough call multiple vets and explain what is happening and what is not working okay? Blessed be honey keep us updated.
a wet washcloth is usually a good weapon against soap… 🙂
