I just got a newborn puppy that was separated from his mother. I don’t know how many weeks he is but he’s pretty tiny. I’m so anxious since I don’t know how to care for him. I’m feeding him puppy formula. How often should I feed him? How should I clean him? I’m also trying not to hold him as much. Please provide me with details on how I should care for him.

Melissa Thoreson Get some milk replacer at a pet store and get a baby bottle and feed him as much as he’ll twice a day no more than that and make sure to keep him warm so he doesn’t get to cold and die

Erika Medina Thank you. I just saw how he threw up a little milk. I last fed him about 2 hours ago. Is this something I should worry about?
My dog ate the stalk/stem of a lettuce plant out of my garden. Is this toxic to dogs? Will he be ok?

Sue Bona Lettuce is generally pretty safe for animals to consume I would be more concerned about any possible fertilizer exposure.

Taylor Altendorf Most lettuce is safe for dogs. Like she said, your concern is the fertilizer, if you’ve used it.

Alex Bibler Thank you. No fertilizer used 🙂 I knew lettuce was ok. I was just concerned he ate the stalk part of the plant, not the actual lettuce. Didnt know if different parts of a plant could be toxic to dogs.
What is the side effect of a distemper shot in a kitten?

Ashley Smith She hid after we got home then about thirty minutes later she came out when I put food out and ate. She played with our older cat for a little bit and then a couple of her cat toys. I recently lost three of my dogs that I’ve had for years and I am paranoid, It sounds like she’s having a side effect.

Ashley Smith ok
My Staffie Bitch keeps eating weeds and grass from our back garden. She constantly waits at the back door as if she needs to go to the toilet. Do you know what’s causing her to behave like this?

Vicki Hamill Nature’s way of dealing with Stomach issues. He’ll throw up shortly and all will be well !!?

B. Lakonpa I’ve read that dogs do this because their ancestors used to eat animals that ate grass so it was part of their diet and now dogs eat grass because of that. I’m not sure how much truth this holds but, nonetheless, it sure is interesting. I think it’s a fairly normal thing. My dogs have never thrown up after eating it.
I don’t give her any food. Is anything I can get from svc for her?
Today as every day our beloved Golden made a poop. 3/4 of which was perfectly normal.1/4 was yellow and well, watery. He eats normally, drinks, plays, digs, wags his tail. Yesterday he stole a chicken in worcastershire sauce. And on Wednesday we changed their puppy food (we mixed taste of wild with holistic ) – He’s up to date with his vaccines ( (DHPPi2 + lepto – most recent).
We have also a lab, but she is on metronidazole right now. She has ameba – which is very common in Indonesia. He was clean, so he got his second shot on Monday.
Sorry for panicking, but we had a dozens of health issues with our dogs and I’m superscared about dealing with distemper or parvo (again).*
*Our lab had parvo 2 months ago, test – positive. Our golden was parvo negative, but he started to have the same symptoms as our lab 4 days before she did. 3 of 4 vets we encountered said that his test results must have been false negative. Now I’m panicking its parvo again. Should I?
For breakfast they had: puppy food (+ peanut butter + apple on the side) (as always)
for lunch I’m serving rice with chicken and carrot.
Can I do something more??
How do you feel about Capstar as a partial remedy for fleas?
You really shouldn’t give them anything without seeing the vet. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are toxic to dogs. It is my understanding that one pill can kill them. I would at least call your vet. Maybe he can prescribe something over the phone.
Should you not try to find out what is causing the pain? Pain is often an indication of an underlying problem!
