I have a dalmatian who has been limping on his front left paw for about 2 weeks, he still plays and runs, but I noticed he limps and when he’s at a resting point he favors it. How can I know if its just growing pains or something more?

My rescue cat- who we’ve had for about 6 months- just had some white discharge come from her ear. Otherwise, she seems relatively fine. She’s eating/drinking normally. She had a sinus infection when we first got her and then again about a month later. Since then she’s been okay. Any thoughts? This has never been a problem for my other cat, nor any other cat I’ve had.
My dog has an issue with her front left pastern. There is a raw spot above the declaw. She is licking it and she won’t let me touch it. It is painful for her. Can I put medicine and a bandage over it to try and give it time to heal? Thanks!

A barn cat had kittens either yesterday or early this morning. When we found them, most were nursing, but them are stuck together by their umbilical cords. What should we do?

Charlene Kane Any time he moves his head he yelps loud and I feel HORRIBLE for poor lil guy! I got him wrapped up and holding him trying to get some baby formula into him but not having much luck! Could b a bee sting since I had them out in backyard for first time today but I was with them the hole time, for like a half hr, or maybe momma stepped on his neck accidentally!?!? I dunno but I feel helpless an he’s in pain, almost like party listed!!

Anonymous he needs an emergency vet.

Charlene Kane i took him to the vet and she said he had strangles, drained the large lump on his neck below his ear and gave us medicine, but now the lump is TWICE the size, he is having trouble breathing, keeps sneezing, coughing, weak, im so scared he cant breath and he is gonnadie, he’s only 4 weeks old. of course its sunday nite and there is no vet open…..
She has not been able to jump on the couch for a few days now. She has always slept in bed with me or my younger sisters but now she won’t even get down to pee. (she went in the bed for the 1st time since she was a puppy that was too small to get down.) My dogs are very close to me, and they are my closest friends. I am scared that she is developing arthritis and that I will not be able to afford much help for her if that is the case. I can give her away to someone that can afford frequent visits to the vet even though it would break my heart to pieces.. if I give her away, I would almost have to find a home that would take her daughter too. They could not live apart, it would only make them miserable. I don’t want to give them up at all. The only reason I’d consider it, is because I love her so much that I would rather her live a longer life without me than a shorter life with me. She does not deserve to suffer just because I am too selfish to give her away bc it would hurt me so bad. I love her so much that I would let her (and her daughter) go in order for her to receive the proper care if she is developing arthritis. I am just afraid that she would never be happy without me and my family. I would die inside, but I want her to be okay.

Erika Hogan Thank you, I usually do overreact to anything to do with their health. Her baby is hypoglycemic and the vet I took her to was so uneducated that I knew more than he did about he condition, unfortunately. I know I can pay for one visit at least, but if it is serious im scared it may get too costly. I go crazy when there is something wrong. I’ve never given a thought to giving them away before.
My dog went to sleep last night perfectly fine and when she woke up this morning she has lost completely mobility from her hind legs back (drags herself with her from legs and doesnt wag her tail) What should I do??

Epiphany Dixon I just wanted to update for anyone who might be in the same situation. My chihuahua is a very healthy dog and it turns out she ruptured a disk in her lower back. The vet is keeping her overnight and is going to give her some high doses of anti inflammatories and the vet says she should be walking again in a week! I came here first because I really don’t have the money to make a bill but it turns out that this whole visit cost less then 100$ and the vet is gonna allow me to make payment!
I’m just happy my babygirl is going to be okay.
Our 12 week pup recently got a crate. She’s been doing great for toilet training but urinated in it today. It wasn’t much but the crate door was open and she was playing with her toys and chose to use the crate. Any advice?

Anonymous assuming she’s clear of a UTI, at this point in time, you need to make sure she goes out every half hour.
yes, half hour. without fail. until she starts holding her urine for an hour, then you can back it up to every hour.

Amy Morley She’s urinating as usual but she is going to the vet’s in a few hours so I can ask about a UTI.
Could it be excitement from play time?

Anonymous it’s very possible she’s overly excited, but i think it’s always best to rule out a UTI in cases of incontinence in bitch puppies. they seem to be prone to them when young. in fact, the only time mine urinated in her crate, she had a UTI.
good luck. 🙂

Amy Morley Thanks Laura, I will make sure she get’s checked 🙂
Why does my dads cat hide in a corner and act all nervous almost? His nose to the floor and just laid there looking at me like something was wrong.

Alexis Carpenter As far as I know. I don’t see the cat everyday. I don’t live with my dad. He was doing it when I was babysitting his girlfriends two boys.

Alexis Carpenter Ok. Thanks. I know Mika has a collapsed lung and rib cage on one side. He’s had that since birth. And he’s a Bengal cat I believe

cassy hendricks I know my cat acts somewhat like that when she is nervous. Mainly when there are kids around her or big crowds. She runs under the bed and just stares at stuff. How old are the boys and have they ever been rough with the cat? That could be a cause as well but defiantly go to the vet if this is a new behavior because like Krista said something could be wrong.
How can I stop my boyfriend’s 10 year old dog mounting my 5 year old dog constantly
Scolding, blowing whisle, shouting does not work. My dog snaps & barks to no avail
Neither I or my boyfriend want to find a new home for one of the dogs

Anonymous this is a training issue. i would ask a trainer for help to ensure you’re doing things right, but i would keep both dogs leashed when they’re together…and crate them when they aren’t, if you live together.

PK Dennis Have both of these dogs been neutered? (I assume they are male). If they aren’t, get them to a vet now. Mounting is all about who is in control — not about sex. But, having all those hormones in their bodies amps up all reactions.
If you are making a fuss, and there is snapping and barking involved it sounds to me that the humans are not the ones in control in your life. Both you and your boyfriend need to start working with your dogs on the basics such as down stay, sit stay, go to your bed, bring me a toy, find the ball, heel, etc. As you gain control over the mind of your dogs you show them that humans are the ones in control and they will feel less need to show dominance to each other. It wouldn’t hurt to find a trainer to help the four of you!
Along with this work to calm your dogs with strong leadership, your best tool might be a loaded water gun, or spray bottle. No yelling. No whistle. No scolding. Just pick up the gun/bottle and spray the mounting dog in the face. When he dismounts he needs to be redirected: “find your ball”, “go to bed”, “bring me your toy” or “go outside” (this is why you need to teach these types of commands to your dog). The water needs to happen so fast, and with no fanfare — it works best if the dog never figures out that YOU are the one making the water happen. Keep the guns/bottles all over the house so you can get to one in a step or two. Don’t try to drown the mounting dog, it is just on shot to his head/face to startle him and break his focus on dominating the younger dog. It sets up the association in his mind that when he dominates the other dog, this uncomfortable and startling thing happens. The the redirection to a toy or bed channels his mind in a better activity.
Scolding, blowing whistles, and shouting escalate the excitement — you are barking along with them in the mind of a dog. Stop. Be calm. Calm, positive energy, and 15 mins of focused training 2 times per day (at least) is what is needed to improve the situation.
Good luck.
i gather this is a puppy? has he been seen by a vet for this yet?
He is 11 months old and he has not yet seen a vet yet, considering that I was trying to wait and see if it is growing pains.
i’d get him in. better to be safe than sorry, you know? i don’t think i’d have pushed it more than a few days of consistent limping.
