He should be okay. Watch his movements for the husks to pass and monitor his behavior and eating much more closely for the next couple of days.

My spaniel has a cut on his rear right leg about 5cm by 2cm. No longer bleeding. Not bothering him. Should I go to a vet

How old is the cut? The 2cm is depth? As a general rule, yes, you should go to a vet. Provided no “functional” tissues are damaged, and if you cannot see a vet, two things that are crucial – cleaning it really well and keeping it infection free. But best policy is to see a vet.

  2. Zac Warn

The cut itself isn’t very deep. 5cm long by 2 wide. Nothing is damage besides what appears to be skin. He is walking on it fine and not even trying to lick it clean. The cut now is about 6hrs old. Rang the emergency vet and they roughly quoted 1600$. That’s to see us, and stitches if needed. It’s cleaned. Waiting upon morning to readjust the situation and see if we need to go to a normal vet

Oh, so more of a scrape than a cut then. What did you clean it with? Clean is most important. I normally use Betadine solution, rinsing generously. Soapy water I think can be used as well. Then I monitor for it being licked or messed with, as well as for redness, swelling and bad odor. With Cookie’s we were applying raw Manuka Honey. If using bandage, we change 3x daily.

Hello,
This morning I went to clean my cat’s litter box and found little droplets of blood on the litter box liner, She is drinking normally, however she does seem to be straining to defecate. Otherwise she is roaming around normally.

    Hi,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. The blood spatter was on the outside of the litter box. I could see no traces of blood in her urine. Is it okay if I just observe her for 24 hours ?

Rugrat is urinating normally, although the urine is a clear yellow. It turns out she was a little constipated. I gave her som maple flavored gel to help get her GI tract back to normal

My Roommates Feel That He’s Really On Edge. They Don’t Feel Confident In Taking Care…

My roommates feel that he’s really on edge. They don’t feel confident in taking care of him in this state. I really don’t know what to do. There are cat sitting services in the area however they require a home visit and for me to be there. I’m on another continent at the moment….

Call your local vet and see what advice they can offer. They may have a staff member who can house sit and check in.

I’m 14 years old, and have always wanted to be a veterinarian. I was wondering if you have any help on how to get started working in a vet clinic at this age.

Ask if you can job shadow your local vet to see if its what you really want to pursue. Volunteer at local animal shelters. When you can get a job try working as a janitor at the local vet or shelter. Get involved in the animal care field and study hard to make sure your grades will help you get scholarships to a good school. You could also try working with a local farmer? I grew up on a farm and you learn a lot about animal care quickly- and you often help vets with the large breed animals. I helped our vet inoculate our goats cause someone had to calm them down. Their are a variety of options and volunteer work looks great on college applications as well as giving you valuable experience.

It sounds like your dog is in pain and needs to see a vet to determine where the pain is and treat it.

  2. Bridget P

we have seen the vet, but they could not pinpoint a certain thing that was wrong w him. I was just hoping someone would have a more specific answer. thank you for your input!!

I just need some advice help n e thing..

  2. Andrea Cox

Advice is to get this animal the hell away from any other animal for a very long time. You are the responsible party here and you managed to get your injured dog in another fight!

  3. Brittany sullivan

No it’s my brothers dog and my dog it’s mom and daughter

  4. Brittany sullivan

I am asking for dog owners no I did not manage to let them get in a fight they got in a fight cause randomly they don’t get along

  5. Sarah

My advice would be to get to the vet asap again. Then keep the dogs separated at all costs. If that means revoking one, the. So be it. I would also consider dog training and a behaviorist for both your sake and the sake of the dog. This is a very serious situation and you need to treat it as such. You need to be extremely responsible and diligent about this. If you can’t live this dog like a family member, the. Find her a home where they can. She looks to you as her pack leader- safety is included in that description. Pleas see the vet and find a trainer and a behaviorist. Please.

  6. PK Dennis

Take her back to the vet to make sure she is getting enough meds, etc.

Females will fight to the death. It is your responsibility to make sure these dogs NEVER have an opportunity to fight again.

  7. Anonymous

And why are you allowing them to coexist? You should be crating and rotating which dog is out at any given time. It is YOURS and your brother’s job to prevent this from happening.

  8. PK Dennis

I have to point out that there is NOTHING RANDOM about why and when dogs fight. You are just not experienced enough to spot what is setting these 2 off. Are they both spayed? Do it if the answer is no. Until you can get a behaviorist in to spot the problem, and train YOU and your family in how to fix it you have to keep these girls apart. If you can’t afford a behaviorist that will come to your home to work with you then you have to find a new home for one of these dogs. Seriously.
