Tonight my boxer has started scratching his ear like crazy and crying while he’s scratching. I think he might have mites but when I try looking he cries more and pulls away. How can I make him comfy till we see the vet in the morning
gave my 10 wk old puppy robitussin dm as advised by vet for kennel cough, one hour later he was yelping and running in circles and wimpering. at vet now. is this some weird reaction to the medicine?? anyone else had this happen?

Kelly Furgason Hello,
It sounds like your dog is vomiting bile. Sometimes if a dog hasn’t eaten in awhile the bile can irritate the stomach and then they vomit. How long does your dog go between meals? If your dog only eats once a day, try doing twice per day…or even three times per day if possible. Use the same daily amount of food, just divide it up into more than one feeding.Of course, it could be other things that can cause this, but this would be my first thought.

PK Dennis How could just wrapping this be the answer? Looks like it needs a major repair!

amy meggs Oh we already went to the vet cost 200 for him to stay all weekend and they gave him antibiotics they wrapednit but it didn’t last half day they want 25 bucks just to rewrap it I don’t have the money for that and its in a place where it wont stay either
Yes she had a X-ray and said it was Brocken but I have had dogs all my life and could see that the dogs leg was not out of place and she was running on all fours so can you tell me how the dog could run and jump with no sign of pain

amy meggs He has been to the vet stayed all weekend long but is there like something to spray on it so it gets better

chad perry Use an antiseptic
solution or plain water and gauze or a cloth (not cotton) to gently
clean around the wound, and a syringe or similar device to flush the
solution over the surface of the wound. Antiseptic solutions are made by
diluting concentrated solutions bought at the store that contain either
povidone iodine or chlorhexidine diacetate as the active ingredient. Do
not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the wounds, as these will
actually damage the tissue and then put so antibacterial ointment on it and rap it with gauze and change it every day till its healed -
amy meggs Thanks so much I was told to use some kind of horse spray but I was so afraid it would feel like putting alcohol on it he is using it fine and its hardly licking and has no sign of infection at least I haven’t let him outside either he hates that too so thanks a lot I will do that
-
amy meggs Oh you said to wrap it well I’m having problems doing that well the vet did that it lasted half a day he sat and chewed it off and it wouldn’t stay up at top and kept falling and rubbing the spot
-
Kelly Furgason If your vet said to wrap it, make sure you put the cat in an ecollar so that he cannot get the wrap off. Your vet can give you “vetwrap” to use. It’s self sticking wrap that won’t fall down.
She has sores in ears & swollen neck & face. Could this be strangles? Ears are oozing and pup is lethargic. I have limited income for vet and would like to walk back in with an idea. It reads like some descriptions of Strangles, just backwards from how I read it.
The dog is a six month old Lhasa apso and what she did have for a day was she lifted the leg up a few times it was the back leg and then she started to put it down the next day and is running and jumping up to my wast and jumping up and down from the couch.

I have a red eared slider that kept wheezing as it opens its mouth. It has an extreme loss of appetite and often closes its eyes. May I know what I could do to diagnose it? Thank you

Anonymous that sounds like it COULD be a respiratory infection. do you have a vet that will examine your turtle?
this may be of some help: http://www.redearslider.com/respiratory_behavior.html

Jimmy Leow Thank you, but I do not live near a vet. I am wondering if it is possible to cure it without consulting a vet. It seems that respiratory infection is lethal and I want to save it as soon as possible
I’m wondering if that is a possible allergic reaction to Dextromethorphan? What did the vet say?

Hello,
I’m glad that you are at a vet now to see if any reaction is happening. Robitussin can be used by dogs (it’s not cleared by FDA for use in dogs, but many vets to use it to treat)…
I’ve never heard of any reactions with it, but I’m sure there are some dogs that do.
Would be interested to hear back from you after the vet does the exam.
