Regular Vet Visit

This Is Boots. A YouNg Overweight Beagle Who Was Scooting. My Top Rule Outs For…

Symptoms:

Scooting, spinning on her back end.

Diagnosis:

Boots is overweight. This is causing or worsening her skin fold pyoderma and vaginitis. In most cases pets are Scooting because their anal sacs are full or inflamed. Other possible causes are allergies, or skin fold pyodermas. I see this most often in overweight dogs or dogs with abnormal anatomy; like screw tail on bulldogs, or dogs with recessed vulvas or vaginitis. Boots had full anal sacs and a vaginal fold causing moisture to stay trapped and this was causing a skin infection.

Treatment:

Weight loss plan. episioplasty of that doesn’t solve her issue.

Conclusion:

Boots went home with a diet plan and options so she can still feel spoiled and loved. And topical antibiotic and anti inflammatory to help relieve her discomfort.
