Dasa presented for an elective spay and gastropexy. This procedure is strongly recommended for large breed dogs with deep chests due to the increased risk of gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat. This reduces the risk of this life-threatening condition by securing the stomach to the abdominal wall, preventing it from twisting.
Dasa was put on IV fluids for the day, She received injectable pain meds to help during her procedure. We run IV fluids daily while they are in hospital to keep them hydrated and in case of emergency and we would need to access quickly.
