Sophie is a long term patient of Jarrettsville Vet Center. Recently, she came in as an “emergency walk-in” appointment because her mouth seemed painful. It was determined that Sophie had a mobile upper incisor and a small mass at the gingivomucosal border. A blood work panel for a dental/mass removal was sent to the lab to ensure Sophie’s safety under anesthesia.
Unfortunately Sophie had elevated ALT levels so surgery had to be pushed off for a few weeks. Blood work was then sent out again and came back clearing Sophie for her procedures.
On the day of surgery, Sophie was dropped off first thing in the morning. After being checked in by a surgical technician, Sophie was taken to the treatment area where she will await her turn in surgery. While she was waiting, she had an IV catheter placed in a front limb and connected to her IV fluid therapy.
Once in sedated and in surgery, Sophie’s extraction were addressed first, suturing any areas where pockets were created. Next, the remaining teeth were ultrasonically scaled and then polished. Following the polishing, Sophie was directly monitored while awakening from her anesthesia.
Once fully recovered, Sophie was discharged to her owner later that same day by the surgical technician.
