Abby came in to Jarrettsville Vet back in February for her annual physical exam and vaccine boosters. It was recommended that Abby have a dental cleaning and polishing.
Abby’s blood was drawn and sent to the lab for testing to ensure she is a safe candidate for anesthesia. The blood work came back “no significant findings”, which is a good thing, so her dental procedure was scheduled.
On the day of surgery, Abby was dropped off in the morning, fasted since the night before at midnight and ready for her surgical procedure. A Technician went over all of the check in paperwork and answered any questions the owner had. After that she was taken to the treatment area.
Once in the treatment area, Abby had an IV catheter placed in one of her front limbs by a technician. Following the catheter placement, she was placed in a cage on some soft blankets to relax while connected to her IV fluid therapy as she waits for surgery.
During her dental, three extractions were necessary. The remaining teeth were scaled and polished up while she was maintained on anesthetic gas. Her recovery from the procedure went well as the gas wore off and Abby slowly woke up.
Later that evening Abby was discharged by a Technician, who went over the discharge paperwork and answered any questions the owner had.
After a few weeks Abby was fully healed and back to enjoying her favorite crunchy treats!
