Romeo is a new rescue that came into Jarrettsville Veterinary Center (JVC) as a Walk-In Emergency Visit because he was suffering from bloody diarrhea.
Following his examination by the Doctor, Romeo received sq fluids and an injection of an anti-nausea medication. He was then sent home with Cerenia, an oral anti-nausea medication, along with a Proviable kit (probiotics).
The owner was instructed to withhold food and water for the next 12 hours to help Romeo’s insides calm down.. After that, they are to feed a bland diet for 7 days. If he doesn’t eat, or vomits within 2-3 hours of eating, they are instructed to call us.
Romeo received sq fluids to help keep him hydrated.
Blood work and a fecal sample were submitted to lab for testing.
Unfortunately, Romeo had to return to JVC the next morning due to on going symptoms. More SQ Fluids were administered and Romeo was kept under close medical observation for the day.
Upon examination Romeo looks very good. He has no abnormal feces in his colon and he has not had any episodes of vomiting or diarrhea today.
At the end of the day he was sent home to see how he does overnight. The owner was given instructions to offer small meals of the i/d canned food, or boneless, boiled, skinless chicken and rice for the next 2-3 days.
Romeo is feeling much better now and feeling fine!
