Koda had a wide, soft subcutaneous mass just under the skin on the right side. a fine needle aspirate was performed with a large gauge needle and the cells are most consistent with a lipoma. The owner elected to have it removed.
The doctor sent out a small blood work panel and informed the owner that they would call when it is back. Surgery was tentatively scheduled.
A a dose of Librela was also given (It is an injectable medication for osteoarthritis. It should be given every 30 days if helpful.) It can be given long term.
About one week later Koda returned for his scheduled mass removal surgery. An IV catheter was placed and he was put onto IV fluids while waiting for his turn in the surgical suite. He was given some pre-meds to help him feel calm prior to intubating for surgery. When the time came, Koda was moved to the surgical suite and prepped for his procedure.
The surgery went smoothly. Koda recovered well from his anesthesia and went home the same day with some medications to help control any discomfort or anxiety. His incisions were safely covered with a snug fitting medical pet shirt.
