Merci is a rescued kitten. She is 9 months old. She was found with multiple back leg injuries and has already had an FHO to help her broken femur. She has had her spay surgery delayed because of this. She had a routine spay, which includes intubation and general anesthesia.
Because she was spayed so late her ovaries and uterus reflected hormonal changes. She was in heat when I spayed her. Some veterinary clinics will charge a premium for this. My suggestion is to ask your vet to provide photos of the uterus and ovaries. These photos were taken with my personal smart phone. With every case I do I take photos.

I did not, and almost never do, charge the excess fee for a cat in heat. I would rather have them in heat versus pregnant.
