Regular Vet Visit

Milo is a Aussie who was neutered at almost 2 years old. Here is the story of his neuter surgery.

Symptoms:

Milo was neutered a little later in life at 1 yr 10 months old.
He had a pre-op exam ($45), was current on his vaccines and also pre-op blood work ($60)..

Diagnosis:

Routine neuter in an adult medium breed dog.

Treatment:

There are a few options for canine neuters. I like to talk to pet parents about all of them. I always make sure their adult teeth are in place, the testicles have descended into the scrotum and no other congenital defects present (hernias, etc). I also talk about gastropexy’s in large and giant breed dogs and perhaps a scrotal ablation.
Milo was given an iv catheter, iv fluids for his neuter.

Conclusion:

Cost of Milo’s neuter is as follows;
surgical package; i.v. catheter, i.v. fluids, fluid pump, anesthesia, surgical pack $250
routine canine castration$100,
injectable pre-op NSAID $46
microchip $25
anti-nausea medication (he woke up nauseous) $56
pain medication to go home $14
e-collar $16
