Roxy Needed a Second Opinion for Frequent Urination & Increased Thirst

Symptoms:

Frequent urination since October 2018 and increased thirst, history of frequent urinary tract infections, blood in urine and spay induced incontinence. In January of 2018 she began vomiting stomach contents within 5 minutes of eating a meal and also began having periods of confusion.

Diagnosis:

Psychogenic Polydipsia

Treatment:

Restricting water intake to 2 liters a day given in small increments. Followed up with primary vet and added in medications to help with Roxy’s mental state.

Conclusion:

I am glad we were referred for a second opinion, while a costly we had another set of eyes and hands on our beloved dog which allowed for us to be rather certain there is nothing else brewing. We will continue to watch her closely. I am curious to see how the meds help.
