Milo is an 11yr old Shih Tzu that is a current family member of 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue and patient here at JVC.
Milo had come to Jarrettsville Vet to have a cough looked at. Unfortunately after a thorough examination Milo was found to have a grade 3 heart murmur. This heart murmur turned out to be the cause of his coughing. Blood was sent out to the lab for testing. The heart condition was confirmed via radiographs by the Technicians and reviewed by the Doctors.
Milo also needed a dental cleaning along with some extractions so his procedures were scheduled for a few weeks later. Anesthesia will be more sensitive with Milo due to his grade 3 heart murmur.
On the day of his dental procedures he was dropped off and checked in by a Surgical Technician and then taken to the back treatment area where he will be prepped for surgery.
Milo had an IV catheter placed in one of his front limbs and place on IV fluid therapy while waiting his turn in the surgical suite.
Milo’s procedure required nerve quadrant blocking in an effort to keep anesthesia at a minimum. He had 1 uncomplicated extraction and the rest of his teeth were scaled and polished.
Milo recovered beautifully and the procedure was a great success.
