Daisy, a 7-year-old spayed female Dachshund mix, came in for intermittent limping on her left hind leg that had been happening for a few weeks. When her mom brought her in, Dr. Magnifico performed a full exam and noted a positive drawer and thrust. To confirm the diagnosis, we proceeded with a thorough work-up, which revealed that Daisy had a torn cruciate ligament.
Once lab work came back normal, we scheduled surgery with our boarded surgeon. The procedure cost around $3,800, significantly less than the $6,000-$8,000 charged by many specialty surgeons. Daisy is recovering beautifully, and her mom is thrilled to see her walking comfortably and back to her old self again.
