My cat has a very bad abscess on his head. Was sick for a few days before we realized. A drain tube was installed about 30 hours ago. Lots of drainage still. Cat not very responsive, eyes not opening to look at me, mostly laying in one spot. As far as i can tell, he’s only getting up to urinate in the box. He drank some water last night. Had a very very small bite of food but hasn’t really eaten for days. Is this normal now that the tube is installed? He was given fluids and a antibiotic shot. I feel like the infection, not the antibiotics, is winning the battle. How long before I see progress or need to take him back to the vet? I’m thinking we should go back tomorrow 48 hours after having the tube installed if he’s still like this. Thoughts?

This could be medical. Have you taken your cat in to check for a UTI? If not, this should be step 1. Take a fresh urine sample with you, if possible.
This could also be behavioral. Is your cat stressed? Do you have two or more litterboxes (one per cat plus one), and does your cat use any of them? Have you tried different litter types? Has your schedule changed suddenly, or is someone new in your life? Could your cat be bored? Do you use room sprays and scents that might bother him? Do you have other animals in your home, and could any of them be picking on him? How about people – do you live with any other people, and could they be harassing or otherwise mistreating him when you’re not around?

This morning I went to clean my cat’s litter box and found little droplets of blood on the litter box liner, She is drinking normally, however she does seem to be straining to defecate. Otherwise she is roaming around normally.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. The blood spatter was on the outside of the litter box. I could see no traces of blood in her urine. Is it okay if I just observe her for 24 hours ? -

Sarah My advice would be to get to the vet asap again. Then keep the dogs separated at all costs. If that means revoking one, the. So be it. I would also consider dog training and a behaviorist for both your sake and the sake of the dog. This is a very serious situation and you need to treat it as such. You need to be extremely responsible and diligent about this. If you can’t live this dog like a family member, the. Find her a home where they can. She looks to you as her pack leader- safety is included in that description. Pleas see the vet and find a trainer and a behaviorist. Please.

PK Dennis I have to point out that there is NOTHING RANDOM about why and when dogs fight. You are just not experienced enough to spot what is setting these 2 off. Are they both spayed? Do it if the answer is no. Until you can get a behaviorist in to spot the problem, and train YOU and your family in how to fix it you have to keep these girls apart. If you can’t afford a behaviorist that will come to your home to work with you then you have to find a new home for one of these dogs. Seriously.

Anonymous Clean it up IMMEDIATELY. Redirect when he starts to eat it. Don’t leave him in the yard by himself and supervise closely (you should do this anyway). I would talk with your vet to make sure he’s eating a proper diet for his breed and age, as well.

PK Dennis This is just something that puppies do, especially if they come from puppy mills.
The only thing that truly works is getting to the poop before he does. Take him out to poo on a leash and move him away from h I should stool before he can eat it, and then pick up and dispose of it so it isn’t available later.
He will most likely grow out of this behavior.
In case of Puking Foam , Her digestive system isn’t good. But blood is coming?!?? She got a stomach cancer. Keep calm and visit a vet as soon as possible if you want to save her.
