I would let your friend know…
I have a 1 1/2 year old male cat. As a kitten he was given all of his injections, was neutered and chipped. After then he was allowed to go outside for several hours at a time. we use a flea repellent drop on him monthly and he is wormed every 3 months in accordance with the packet directions. He enjoys being outside and always stays close to home, returning when shouted in. My partner is concerned that allowing him to go outside is significantly reducing his life span and is bad for his health, but he enjoys being allowed outside. Would you advise that it would be better for the cat to be kept indoors rather than allowed out during the daytime?

Hi, I’m staying at a friends house and she has a bird. She just went to sleep and I was eating a chips ahoy chocolate chip cookie and I see her give the bird human food all the time so I have the bird about a third of the cookie. I’ve been reading a lot of articles some saying the a little amount of chocolate is fine and some saying any amount of chocolate can be extremely lethal. I was just wondering if the bird will be alright?
After my dog was neutered, he’s been peeing everywhere in the house, even on my bed. How can I get him to stop? And why is he doing this?
I can’t afford anything. I am only 13 years old and worried for my kitten

I have cleaned her eye from the ooze which now she has her eye opened but still looks irritated. I do know that the eye she has it in does have cataract. Can I get her an over the counter at the pet store if it dry eye? And how many drops do I give her?
I know our vet will want xrays etc and cost us 500 dollars to hear she is fine and to just give it time. Any suggestions?
My kitten is now about 12 weeks old now and I’m thinking about getting him neutered before I go on vacation in 2 weeks and he will be with his catsitters for a week, will he fully recover by then?

Andrea Cox Quickly. A couple days. When mine were neutered they went home with pain meds for two days and it knocked them out on the couch only getting up to eat and back to sleep. By day 3 they were eating playing and being normal. Just need to make sure they don’t lick the stitched up area and make it so they are stress free. No kids playing with them and no parties. Quiet stress free..

Andrea Cox I meant spayed. . They were female.. but the same advice for the males..

Dawn Ferara, DVM Most cats recover very quickly from neutering. As long as there are no complications he should be fine.
Is it safe to give my 2 month old kitten cooked carrots? If yes how much should I feed him?
I know that he underwent neutering on 7/7 so 5 days ago, he seemed to have some discharge coming from his incision site. I asked the woman at the desk about it and she said it was ok but he seems lethargic and its still leaking, he doesn’t lick or bite it since he is always sleeping. I’ve kept him with me from the moment I got him because I’m worried for him.

Ashley Messer Does anybody have any advice?

Anonymous Has he been to your vet yet? If not – all new dogs and cats NEED to be seen by YOUR vet for an introductory visit. Get that done before the end of the week and ask that vet.

Ashley Messer I plan to take him to the vet asap. I had just adopted him yesterday and I was so worried but this morning he is active and trying to explore. He seems to be doing better. He isn’t leaking anymore and he was definitely interested in his water again. I called my closest emergency vet last night and they gave me some peace of mind and told me the only real red flag is his disinterest in food but that could be the change in environment since his discharge was clear and he Seems to have no problem in the potty department.

Anonymous I didn’t read too far into it, but it sounds like it’s toxic if ingested. I would thoroughly wash the wound again and put a cone on your cat to prevent it from licking the wound.

Charlotte Pearce Thank you! I’ve throughly washed him, although he hates me now. And making sure he’s drinking plenty. Still being his annoying self, so I think he’s ok!
Outdoor cats have shorter lifespans than indoor cats. You cannot guarantee he is safe from accident and injury, and he may very well pick up worms, other parasites, and disease.
It doesn’t really affect it much, it can knock of 1-2 years of a cats like though. I just think it’s dangerous for them to be out because of other hazards such as, cars, other people, and other cats, even some toxic plants, but if it’s a backyard I think that it’s perfectly safe, but honestly it all comes down to opinion.
Cats never just stay in a backyard.
