depending on what worries you, he may be fine.  vaccines *may* remain in the system longer than their recommended length of time.  i’d get him to the vet to make sure he’s OK and maybe discuss titers with your vet.

A vet check would be good..Even indoor cats should be vaccinated for minimum rabies vaccine–for cases like this when “indoor” cats escape, it is important to have rabies up to date.
Your vet can pull blood and get titers checked to see if they are ok w/vaccines if you don’t want to re vaccinate
    good luck!!

Unfortunately it is very hard to diagnose what could be wrong with him over the Internet with those signs.   How long has this been going on?  Could he have eaten anything he shouldn’t have?   Will he drink tuna juice or anything?   I am not sure how close you are to one of the veterinary schools but they sometimes have student clinics that are cheaper or may be able to offer you a payment plan etc

  2. brie griffin

he so far hasnt eaten except for a few days, about 4 or 5 except one bite of canned food. i dont really know if he ate anything thats bad for him. he will drink water, thankfully. he seems to be losing a lot of weight. my mom said it could be a blockage would he get fat if it were a blockage?

  3. Ashley Carlson

You could also try calling local shelters or rescues to see if any of them may be able to help you.  Some shelters have crisis intervention programs or low-cost clinics.  Some may take him and make him better if you agree to surrender him.  I know that might be hard, but it could save his life. Check out http://www.nokillnetwork.org/ for possible options in your area.

  4. Kristen Vance

He definitely needs veterinary care. There are options such as carecredit which you can apply for online to use at local animal hospitals for as Ashley said maybe a rescue or shelter can help you.

You need to take him to the vet.  Try calling a local rescue, the humane society or even friends to see if they can help with money.

  2. brie griffin

sometimes my parents, im 13, wont do that, they dont seem to care or at least my dad doesnt, also my dad works to much to go o the vet with my mom

  3. Melinda Salmaone

I would see if you can borrow from someone ,also like was already said call your local shelters they might have knowledge or your local vets. Take some time make some calls . Vets may also discount their rate or offer a credit card through them or payment plan. you really need to act fast an animal not eating is serious and the ending won’t be good. So I cant stress enough act as quickly as possible. good luck to you and you kitten.

  4. Ashley Carlson

Some places may have volunteers to come out and help transport the kitten. Or if you have a local animal control officer you can tell them you have a sick kitten who needs help. Unfortunately sometimes they may euthanize the kitten, so you need to ask what will happen to him if they pick him up. Some shelters/rescues will do whatever is in their power to save the lives on the animals who come to them while others don’t have the resources and are forced to euthanize sick animals.

Even if you didn’t see it happen its possible he stepped in a hole etc.  Since he seems affected badly, by not putting weight on it, I recommend taking him to a vet in the morning if he is still limping!

I Have Been Agonizing Over This For 2 Days Now. Last Monday I Took My…

I have been agonizing over this for 2 days now. Last Monday I took my 14 year old cat to the vet because he had stopped eating and drinking. X-Ray showed what the vet thinks is abdominal cancer. After talking to my vet decided that surgery/chemo would not be an option for me and she prescribed steroids which may help and gave him fluids. He perked up a tad after fluids and would eat maybe a quarter to half a can of wet food a day. Since Friday though I have not been able to get him to eat anything (he did come out and lick the food yesterday but would not eat) and all he does is lay under the computer chair. He will not sleep in the bed with me which is something he has done his whole life. I plan to call the vet first thing tomorrow morning, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

No, do not use or give human medicine to any animal unless instructed to by your vet.

  2. debra yuhasz

I wouldn’t chance it. Human meds are usually stronger than pet meds and can do more harm than good. It’s not wise to give any meds unless instructed by a vet. A lot of human meds are toxic to animals.

Just started l lysine, for a few days and his symptoms appear to be getting worse. his eyes are clear but hes deeply congested and sneezing considerably more mucus everywhere, and sneezing frequently. does the l lysine make things initially appear to be getting worse?
