Hello,
It could very well be flea dirt. If you can use a flea comb you can check better for fleas. They are fast and sometimes not easy to see if it’s not a heavy infestation. Are you currently using any flea medication on her?

G’day guys wanting to know how long a cat is pregnant for, and can she be wormed, also will the kittens have to be weaned or not?
My cat has a black spot on her back that looks a little like dirt. I don’t see any fleas. What is it?

Brianna Eugley Thank you so much. I have emailed pretty much every clinic in Maine. I filled out that application for the vet billing solution. At your clinic is there a payment plan available? I have also read that at some places if you receive food stamps they will also help you. But Smoky hasn’t been neutered and they all require she be neutered. I absolutely hate when animals are in pain and I’m trying to find something to do for her but I am financially unable to pay for a $200 vet bill.
How likely is FIV to be transmitted from mother’s milk to kittens? If a mother cat is pos for FIV and all 4 of her 8wk old kittens tested neg for FIV, what is the likelihood of the results actually being a false neg?
Tx!

Adam Wysocki Hi Carolyn,
I don’t know if it’s technically impossible, but certainly not a common scenario in my personal experience. Over the last 4 years my rescue has taken in 3 cats (with litters) that have tested positive for FIV. All of the litters of kittens turned out to be negative. Our policy with FIV+ mom’s is to test the kittens on intake and then again in 6 months to verify results.
We did have one litter that tested positive initially and then tested negative 6 months later (a second test was given at 6 months just to double check).
Here’s some additional information from Best Friends Animal Society http://bestfriends.org/Resources/Pet-Care/Cats/Health-And-Care/FAQs-About-FIV/Hope
Hope this helps,

How do I treat a small cut on my cats face?
my cat has small cut on his face which bled a little, how can I treat it?
Found a kitten and im unsure about the age. She has small amounts of diarrhea and seems weak, what do i feed her? I have an older male cat as well, should i be concerned about him hurting the kitten?
Hi i have a 5 month old half persian mix cat. He is breathing fast 60 breaths per minute. Nose flaring. It’s summer here and it’s about 39 degrees celcius here. I’ve put him infront of a fan and put damp cloth on him wat should i do?
He has been to the vet stayed all weekend long but is there like something to spray on it so it gets better
Use an antiseptic
solution or plain water and gauze or a cloth (not cotton) to gently
clean around the wound, and a syringe or similar device to flush the
solution over the surface of the wound. Antiseptic solutions are made by
diluting concentrated solutions bought at the store that contain either
povidone iodine or chlorhexidine diacetate as the active ingredient. Do
not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the wounds, as these will
actually damage the tissue and then put so antibacterial ointment on it and rap it with gauze and change it every day till its healed
Thanks so much I was told to use some kind of horse spray but I was so afraid it would feel like putting alcohol on it he is using it fine and its hardly licking and has no sign of infection at least I haven’t let him outside either he hates that too so thanks a lot I will do that
Oh you said to wrap it well I’m having problems doing that well the vet did that it lasted half a day he sat and chewed it off and it wouldn’t stay up at top and kept falling and rubbing the spot
If your vet said to wrap it, make sure you put the cat in an ecollar so that he cannot get the wrap off. Your vet can give you “vetwrap” to use. It’s self sticking wrap that won’t fall down.
