chad perry Use an antiseptic
solution or plain water and gauze or a cloth (not cotton) to gently
clean around the wound, and a syringe or similar device to flush the
solution over the surface of the wound. Antiseptic solutions are made by
diluting concentrated solutions bought at the store that contain either
povidone iodine or chlorhexidine diacetate as the active ingredient. Do
not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the wounds, as these will
actually damage the tissue and then put so antibacterial ointment on it and rap it with gauze and change it every day till its healed -
amy meggs Thanks so much I was told to use some kind of horse spray but I was so afraid it would feel like putting alcohol on it he is using it fine and its hardly licking and has no sign of infection at least I haven’t let him outside either he hates that too so thanks a lot I will do that

amy meggs Oh you said to wrap it well I’m having problems doing that well the vet did that it lasted half a day he sat and chewed it off and it wouldn’t stay up at top and kept falling and rubbing the spot
-
Kelly Furgason If your vet said to wrap it, make sure you put the cat in an ecollar so that he cannot get the wrap off. Your vet can give you “vetwrap” to use. It’s self sticking wrap that won’t fall down.
I have a red eared slider that kept wheezing as it opens its mouth. It has an extreme loss of appetite and often closes its eyes. May I know what I could do to diagnose it? Thank you

Anonymous that sounds like it COULD be a respiratory infection. do you have a vet that will examine your turtle?
this may be of some help: http://www.redearslider.com/respiratory_behavior.html

Jimmy Leow Thank you, but I do not live near a vet. I am wondering if it is possible to cure it without consulting a vet. It seems that respiratory infection is lethal and I want to save it as soon as possible
G’day guys wanting to know how long a cat is pregnant for, and can she be wormed, also will the kittens have to be weaned or not?
Hello. I recently got a dog by a woman who said she could no longer take care of her. The lady said that she also thinks the dog is pregnant. About 3 weeks later her abdomen had grown and her nipplez were easily seen under her fur. I really thought she was pregnant but yesterday I noticed she was licking herself and she was bleeding. Later a male dog came to her. Nothing happened though. Was this her gaining weight because of regular meals and she’s in heat or is there some pregnancy complications
We adopted 9 mo. old DSH who is now 1 1/2 yrs, Shady was a stray dont know his history. Out of nowhere, his pupils dilate, attacks & bites so hard he draws blood. Jekyll & Hyde. Rough play or aggression? Love him tho. Help pls???

Anonymous sounds like typical young cat behavior. i’d get him in for a general checkup to be sure, though.

Beth James Of course, the vet says he is healthy. It is a psychological or behavioral issue. Wish I knew what happened to him as a baby. Just would like to stop the biting. We had our last cat for 17 years so cat care isn’t new to us… How can we stop the biting?
-
Beth James He has all his shots and we had him micro chipped in case he ever gets out.
These attacks come out of nowhere! I hate to admit it but he can be scary. He attacks our legs and arms. We haven’t had him very long, but we love him and are keeping him (so cute). He can be very loving, lying down for hours, purring and we pet him. And he has a favorite toy, a cat that plays fetch!
His demeanor changes in a split second, out of nowhere….is he just too happy?? -
Beth James Thank you Dr. Magnifico, but that video isn’t 100% our Shady. Sometimes, he will just attack from another room for no reason.,… Not just when we pet him. It is very strange and I try not to compare him to our previous pet, I know they all have different personalities…..but the biting!!!! I wonder if it was from a prior trauma, he was homeless and underweight when he chose us at the adoption center??
-
Beth James He was given a certified clean bill of health from the adoption center and again in April for his wellness visit from my vet. The biting has been since day 1. I think it has been decreasing in frequency. At first he was very skittish and afraid of noises, like thunder, but has calmed down tremendously, truthfully over the past few months. I will check out J Galaxy….thank you very much. Thank you too for having this site.
Our8week lab developed parvo. Still, our5week golden had the same symptoms(vomitting, bloody dihharea, lethargy), but his parvo test was negative (4 day), while our labs (2day)was positive. Is there a possibility it was a false negative test?

Anna K Thanks Krista,
Our Golden seems just fine right now. It’s his 10th day of parvo, but he’s eating like a crazy, plays, walks around. Our lab feels horrible despite hospitalization. It’s his 5 / 6th day of parvo, but she began to vomit again after meals. He was in hospital from Monday to Friday. Now she’s at home, but they’re separated.
Our lab takes oral fluids right now and is on amoxy, curcumine and metronidazole.
My dobe bitch spent last week at my MIL’s home, and throughout that week my MIL fed her Beneful rather than the food we asked her to feed. This…is a problem, and one we will be discussing with her at another time.
However. As a result of this lovely, boundary-free vacation eating nothing but the equivalent of Big Macs for a week, she will not go back to her regular food unless we add enticements. I need her eating what i give her, when i give it to her, without exceptions. Normally this isn’t a problem – she’s trying to get us to give her that lovely, delicious junk food. She is healthy, so this isn’t a health-related problem. She’s just being a stubborn brat. 🙂
My question is this: what is the quickest way to get her back on her normal food? My husband is less than cooperative with my eat-it-or-lose-it method of training, wondering if anyone can suggest anything else. For the moment she is absolutely refusing plain kibble. The most I will do for her is add warm water, which I do for dinners anyway. She won’t touch breakfast at all.
Any suggestions? 🙂

jerry smith typical for a dog that age, probably not much to be done. Your lucky to have had him so long. sorry about his condition, just try to keep him pain free

male 11 yo neutered minpin foster dog. He has had a lump on the side of his penis for months It is getting larger If I touch it he yelps but not every time. He has been peeing and walking around Does this sound like prostate cancer 2 you?
0.05 to 0.1mg of Imodium AD per pound of dog
pepto bismol is 1 ML per ten pounds of dog for every eight hours but it is always good to ask your vet 1ST
