Yes, you should.
Can an indoor only cat catch a cold if he hasn’t been around other cats? We have 4 cats and we did move about a month ago. One of the cats has been sneezing, coughing, lethargic, and has a fever. How could he have caught a virus if he was in his carrier the whole trip, has never been outside, and only has been around my other three cats his whole life? (he’s about a year and a half old). At what point should I bring him to the vet? He ate some wet food tonight and is still happy to get snuggles, but he’s not himself. Will it just clear up on its own? Thank you!
My Greater Swiss Mountain Dog (giant breed) has been having recurrent UTIs. She went to a new vet today for an ultrasound of her bladder to check for stones. She was supposed to be at the vet’s all morning, but due to unexpected developments, they were able to get her in right away. The vet called me and mentioned that they’d found nothing on the ultrasound, but she wanted to do a digital vaginal exam to check for abnormalities in the vagina. I said “yes” but had second thoughts right after hanging up – the vet was a new person to my dog, after all, which might make a necessary but invasive procedure scarier. I called back to ask them to wait so I could at least be there for reassurance, but the line was busy, and by the time I got through, the exam had been done.
My dog seemed just fine when I picked her up, and we all know that dogs are not the most particular about their hindquarters, as sniffing attests, but this was a bit more invasive than sniffing, so I have to ask: how much discomfort (in all senses) do dogs feel during a vaginal exam? I know it’s difficult to ascertain, but – well, I gotta ask.
He has developed many scabs. Some look like a big pimple, while other crusting has developed in lines on skin. He, for the most part, will let me clean the wounds and try to ease his issue. His skin is hot to touch. Just in the past few days Ziggy has developed vision and hearing problems. Both eyes have a thick, yellowish “boogie”. He is very lethargic recently as well. Ziggy isn’t yelping, crying,or verbal in any way showing he is in great pain.

I Need Your Advise Regarding My 11 Months Old Persian Male Cat. The Problem Is…
I need your advise regarding my 11 months old Persian male cat. the problem is that my cat wants to go out for mating and if we do not let him go out he sprays and pees in the house which causes a very bad odor in the house. Now that we have let him out on his own he has started to spray around outside and you can smell the odor as soon as you enter through gate.
Secondly we have tried to set up play dates for him and lock both the cats in bathroom but uptill now he hasn’t mated.
Thirdly, there is a stray cat outside which is on heat all he does is that he sits beside her all day long and if we bring him inside the female cat starts to cry which make him go crazy to go outside.
Finally, I want to ask you about getting my cat neutered. The pros and cons of getting the cat neutered. I have heard from someone that the cat’s personality changes and we have to take care of him more because there will be a wound after his operation and all the people in our house go to work. Hence, there can be a problem in taking care of him 24/7.
I just adopted a Maltese and he keep coughing at night like a hacking sound and wanting to know what we can do to help him till we can get him to a vet next Friday?

PK Dennis How old is this dog? If he is an older adult I would suspect an enlarged heart. During the day dogs with this condition are up and round and don’t cough, but when they settle down at night to sleep they feel the pressure of the heart pressing on their lungs and they start coughing. While this condition can not be cured, your pooch can live years symptom free with the proper care.

Anonymous this might sound weird, but have you had her thyroid checked? a friend of mine had a young cat with excessive grooming habits and it turned out to be thyroid problems.

PK Dennis Have you gotten all grains out of his/her diet? No grains in food or treats. Find a grain-free kibble that lists real meat as the first 2 or 3 ingredients. Real meat will be: beef, lamb, elk, salmon meal, etc. Do not buy anything that lists “by-products” in the ingredients – they could be nothing more than feathers.
To help the skin heal you can rinse her once per day (short haired dogs, less often for long-haired dogs, you don’t want her constantly moist) with a mix of 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water. Allow this to dry on her skin.
Also if you have been using Benadryl try switching to a generic Zyrtec – it often works better for dogs.
For the active hot spots try Witch hazel with Aloe, you can find it in any drug store OTC, pat it on with a cotton pad and allow to dry – you can do this several times per day to help reduce itch and help the spot heal.
Good luck!
I have 2 siamese cats, they both accidently ate raw rancid beef on Fri morning. Since then haven’t eaten, not seen them drinking, looking and feeling sorry for themselves, vomiting and runs, will sit on my knee and quietly purr when petted.
I have this puppy Pom. She had a mange with mites condition going on i now have her on treatment some type of shot set of 3 really. She has had the first one and i have done one borax hydrogen peroxide water dip. Wondering when it would be safe to let her back in the livingrooms and carpets with us??
