It could be an allergy or a skin condition Iike a pemphigus however, a vet needs to examine your dog to make a proper diagnosis.

My standard poodle is a little over a year old and a couple months ago I noticed her head was bloody. After having it cleaned out thinking she just scratched it on something… I noticed she would get irritated red areas on her head. And then would scratch and leave it raw and bloody… It’s happened multiple times now and this morning again when I woke up her head was full of dry blood and wounded. Could it be a skin condition? it’s only on her head and snout that this happens

PK Dennis Just as Dr. Dawn mentioned, it would be an allergy, reaction to fleas, something going on with her thyroid, etc. Or it could be mange. I was just reading up on sarcoptic mange since one of my boys is showing signs of this — and read that it is often one of the most difficult things to diagnose. And as a result, it is suspected that this condition is severely under diagnosed! This article recommended that if a dog is severely itchy, with no fleas present, then they should treat for sarcoptic mange. Then, if that does not solve the itch, only then start working on the assumption that it is an allergy.
So, if you don’t have a flea problem I would take her to a vet and discuss sarcoptic mange.

He said that surgery at her age is dangerous, she may not wake up from the anesthesia. My dog scratched the tumor and its now a terrible looking open wound. I cant afford to take her to a vet, I have no income at this time. I know she has to be in pain & im worried about infection. Is there anything I can do to treat this ? Some type of topical med. or antibiotic ???

julie brader Hello JoAnne, I realise your dog is 14 years old and an anaesthetic, as the Vet informed you may not be the ideal at her age….you cannot leave her like this.
She has a large open wound on her stomach that is not only open to infection but must be extremely painful.
The tumour doesnt appear to be on a nipple but the underside of the top of her back leg?
You have to take her to a Vet urgently and you need to find the funds from somewhere to do it. Care Credit might be worth looking into…or perhaps you could borrow the money from family or friends. Your dog needs a Vet and she needs one now.

I got this 1.5 months old persian female kitten yesterday.
1- She only took cows milk for the first time during day and did vomit at night.
2- Today she took nothing, except water (only small quantity) and did not go to litter box whole day.
3- She is very slow and almost sleeping whole day.
4- I tried to force feed her milk and cat food, she immediately did vomit.
What should i do now? Its public holiday next 3 days no vet is open.

Lilly Bounds I hate to be the one to tell you this, but cow’s milk is REALLY BAD for cats of all ages. Most cats are lactose intolerant, and I’d say the same for your kitten. Don’t try to force feed her, take her to the vet ASAP. I really hope she feels better, though.

julie brader You need to take her to an emergency Vet without delay, your kitten sounds to be very ill. Cows milk is not good for kittens of this age she needs kitten milk. Shes also too young at 1.5 months to be away from her mum. Please stop force feeding her cows milk and food it may be that causing her to be ill….take her to an emergency Vet.

Dawn Ferara, DVM I’m confused, why did u bathe him in dishwashing liquid? Did he have fleas?
The dishwashing liquid will or has seriously dried out his skin. I would recommend taking him to a vet to get his skin examined especially if he has open sores.

So, we have a kitten about 4 to 5 months. We noticed that for the past couple of weeks, his stomach grows bigger and bigger. Now, his rear legs and tail are paralyzed. So, he walks with his two front legs and drags his rear legs. Also, he would always eat whenever we give him food. However, we noticed that he haven’t urinated or discharged. We would put him inside a box, so he could sleep. As he tries to sleep, his hands would shake every now and then. We also noticed that his heart beats fast sometimes, even when he’s sleepin’. And, he doesn’t have any voice when he speaks. I don’t know if it’s odd that he kneads and purrs, especially with his condition. So, today’s his 3rd day and nothing have changed. I tried lookin’ for any reasons behind his condition or what it’s called, but I couldn’t find any. We couldn’t bring him to the vet, especially because of the weather right now here. And, my Dad thinks it’s expensive and it would cost a lot of money if we bring him to the vet.

This cat needs a Vet URGENTLY right now!!! hes in critical condition and you cannot leave him suffering like this.
His stomach is probably full of urine if he hasn’t urinated….leave him much longer and his bladder will burst.
Take him to a Vet now…emergency.I’m sorry but you should not have pets if you are not prepared to give them the correct care. Its cruel to leave your cat in pain. VET NOW.

brittany phillips I don’t know anything about veterinary medicine so I won’t pretend to . But I gave the titan the best care I could around the clock care every hour on the hour with fluids and medicine to combat the symptoms . He fought it very hard for 4 days but I guess I just didn’t do enough .. I do blame myself because I couldn’t get him the vet care . I hate that he passed in any kind of pain but I did make sure he didn’t go alone I held him rocked him sung to him . I didn’t have him long . Glynis Sakowicz In my experience, that usually means one of two things. I have a very ‘neat’ cat. If the litter isn’t totally clean, he would register his complaint by pooping just in front of the box as if to say, “I refuse to use an unclean box!”
I have also seen cats who are in multiple cat, or cat and dog homes to feel ‘trapped’ in their box and very nervous about using it. In that situation, I moved the box to a more open area, and made sure the cat had an area where the dogs couldn’t reach him. Once he had an area all his own, and he felt safe using the box, the problem disappeared, but as you know, each cat has their own temperament, and their own personality, so your cat could simply be driving you nuts because it wants to!
Cats however, are very clean animals, and once given a ‘better choice,’ will often take that choice, good luck!

Sonya Payr He was at the vet not more than a month ago, we had him desexed at that time and he had a full check up! He’s been doing it since before the vet as well. Asking the vet, they only suggested the things we’ve tried. Moving the boxes, Urine off, different litters, different placement :C he doesnt like minty smells or lavender so we put that scent on the places he likes to go.
No UTI’s or any unusual stresses for him…
Hes such a lovely cat otherwise, very loving and playful

Not a Vet, just looking thru the questions.. I have had Cats that would do similar to the back and tail.. it was thought to be an allergy.. some one cortisone shot later she stopped the chewing and rubbing we now give her a mild half childs dose of antihistamine.. Pets can be allergic to Fleas, Grass it is as wide as humans.. the shampoo used, it could also be a sinus flair up causing the need for the poodle to try to get the irritant out.. you might look at is there something that happens before she starts her active irritation like walk and sniffing.. rubbing face on Grass anything like that Wait for a Vet to give advice as to meds or dosages etc.. it may also be some type of scabies or other mite infestation.. I may be just missing it by a mile, I just wanted to offer my 2 cents worth..
