We Live Next Door To Another Dog And She Hasn’t Been Spayed Because We Own…

We live next door to another dog and she hasn’t been spayed because we own 2 female indoor dogs and they’re rarely outside unattended. She’s also very lean by nature so it’s possible I wouldn’t have noticed but her nipples are a bit saggy and there’s a hard layer in her stomach I recognize (I’ve helped other people’s dogs have puppies) but she also just came out of her heat cycle and I know it’s a possibility. But where we live, we will be kicked out immediately if we have our 2 dogs and a litter of puppies and I don’t want to lose my dog but I know she can’t be separated from the puppies and I have no idea what to do. There is no one who would take her in the meantime, as I live away from my family and just moved to a new area. I have no idea what to do.

you can get an emergency spay done.

Where do you live? Try contacting local rescues to take her and the puppies in until they are weaned. If you do that type up a contract, have it notarized, and have the rescue owners sign it. The contract should state that as soon as the pups are weaned your dog will be released back into your care.

Foil does not digest it is not a food. Eating that much doesn’t sound good.
These people may be able to answer your question because the foil is toxic

My 8yo Chuihuahua Ate A Dead Mouse…I Would Say The Rodent Has Been Dead More…

my 8yo chuihuahua ate a dead mouse…I would say the rodent has been dead more than a day or 2.
I have 2 kids under 4 years of age. how concerned should I be of #1 the dog getting worms, rabies, etc and #2, of us humans contracting anything? I put the dog in isolation with food water and a bed to be on the safe side…

I Lost My Other Dog A Month Ago Who Had The Same Symptoms And…

I lost my other dog a month ago who had the same symptoms and was eventually diagnosed with unidentified gastrointestinal bleeding. He was 13 years old, I gave him two blood transfusions, x-rays and ultrasounds and they couldn’t find anything. It is strange that my other dog now has similar symptoms. His bloodwork seems to be pretty okay, though.

I’d be quite concerned about this. It is possible that the two things are not related but on the other hand it is possible they might be. How about a specialty hospital, where they’d review both dogs’ records in detail and could make recommendations? Or consultation with Dr. Donna Spector https://www.facebook.com/Dr-Donna-Spector-164741590205413/

  2. Debbie Harris

First go to a different vet get the records from the vet or tell the new vet where you took the other dog and he can request them. If it were me I’d get recommendations for vet. before choosing one. I would definitely not go to the same vet.

Thank you for the advice. I did plan on taking him back to that vet but they are an emergency specialized hospital only and do not take appointments. I was going to wait a a couple days to see if the medicine (sucralfate and metronidazole) helped him before going to emergency. He did get into the bathroom garbage and throw up some gross things (i wont go into gross details) prior to getting the melena.

Jasmine had IBD caused by food allergies, which is likely the case with your dog as well. There are reasons behind prescription foods, they are easy to digest, provide all needed nutrition and some of them are either hypoallergenic or limited novel ingredient. With IBD, if offending ingredient gets reintroduced, you might end up with a flare-up again.

With Jasmine, we managed her IBD with home-cooked diet, herbal therapy, probiotics and digestive enzymes.

If your prescription food is hydrolyzed, you’d have to carefully try novel ingredient diet (ingredients your dog NEVER had before). Accomplishing this with home-cooked diet is easier than commercial foods, because with hopefully exception of the prescription foods, it has been found they contain all kinds of ingredients not listed on the labels (likely from insufficient or no cleaning of the equipment between different recipe batches). So choosing such food you’re risking your dog eating the very ingredients that are behind the problem. Home-cooking, you have full control over what goes in. For that, you could work with BalanceIT to get recipes as well as balancing supplement. You could work with co-ops to obtain the ingredients you need for reasonable price. And you could cook relatively large batches at the time and freezing it.

I’m afraid that anything else you try might lead to flare-ups unless there are some manufacturers out there who guarantee full ingredient control over their formulas. Perhaps somebody like Honest Kitchen or Lucky Dog Cuisine might but I don’t know whether that would come cheaper or not.
