sudden abnormal behavior should be met with a trip to the vet. please get him in today.
My dog just a few months ago had surgery for cancer she seemed to be doing OK and recently she started moaning a lot and when she gags it sounds like a lot of air coming out ?

Just a couple hours ago I came home and my dog was normal, or so he seemed, a couple minutes later he went to hide under a chair in my room and wouldnt come out, I offered him a treat and he wouldnt take it, he always does. I then took him for a walk which he was excited for but not as excited as normal. The entire walk he would slow down and speed up and did not pee or poop once. Then when I brought him back he went back to hiding and stayed down there, when I was in the shower he peed in the kitchen and the other bathroom but a small amount both times. He layed under there for another two hours and when I saw him in the hallway he stopped and I thought he was fine because he was walking around normally then suddenly he stopped curled up his tail and peed as if it was unintentional and when he walked back to his hiding spot he was leaking the entire way back to just lay down.

PK Dennis Take him to a vet! You don’t want to mess with it and chance he loses his sight in that eye. I also would try a wet wash cloth soaking it (use salt water — add salt to hot water until the water tastes like the ocean, don’t use water hot enough to scald you or the dog!) to help clean and flush the eye until you can get him to that vet.

Nancy Lanza depending on the breed, it could be cherry eye to a simple infection, I had this situation with a cocker spaniel; vet is the best move.
front of the trailor and our room is in the back by the back door. The dogs are constantly pooping and peeing in the hallway and right in front of my bedroom door. The owner puts puppy pads down in th hallway but they seldom use them it is either beside, on the walls, or right in front of my door, What can I do to get them to stop? ( there is a doggy door that they have 24/7 access to that goes into a huge fenced in back door)

Anonymous if the dogs are using the house as a toilet, they aren’t housetrained. there’s only so much you can do to fix this…you can work on training and you can clean the carpets/walls with an enzymatic cleaner, but EVERYONE in the house needs to be on board.
this situation sucks, and i’m sorry you’re dealing with it. 🙁

PK Dennis I agree with Laura, lots of owners of small dogs think it is okay to let them use pee pads in the house — and of course the dogs get out of the habit of using the pads and end up going where ever they please after a few years. I figure they put up with this since small dog turds are small and easy to pick up.
BUT, YUCK!
Unfortunately unless everyone agrees to comply with a new regiment it is unlikely you will have much success house training these pooches. To house train a dog requires a crate and a strict schedule. Managing four dogs at the same time is more than I would want to take on and I own 4 dogs, and foster 1 or 2 more most of the time! But, I only allow 1 or 2 unhouse-trained dogs at a time. Really that is the limit of what I can pay attention to!
You could try reducing the amount of pee in the house with belly bands and sugar britches (diapers for dogs – find them at CairnRescue.com or google for them). They hold a sanitary napkin inside that keeps the pee contained — but since the dogs can go in and out the doggie door this will not teach them to pee outside. It would just reduce the amount of pee in the house.
As for the poop – dogs often poop at a regular time. Twenty mins or so after eating is normal, and some poop in the morning after a bit of walking. If you force the dogs outside at these times (or when you notice a time they seem to poop most often) and lock/block the doggie dog you force them to poop outside, and after a while they may get the message and do their bowel movements outside.
You also need to clean where they have been doing their business. Use white vinegar mixed with water (50/50), add a drop of dish washing liquid (Dawn). Put this mix in a squirt bottle and wash the walls, baseboard and floor. Use this mix every time them soil in the house, especially around your doorway. At the very least they will not like the smell and may move their marking farther down the hall!
This mix works as well as an expensive enzyme cleaner so don’t waste your money on that. WalMart often carries “washing vinegar” or cleaning vinegar, it is a little more acid and costs the same as regular white vinegar. Buy it by the gallon and use it generously.
Good luck!
My small terrier breed dog was wheezing and his stomach swelled up like a balloon and a few months ago he pucked all over himself and his bed? Please help I’m worried enough to take him to the vet
My dog has been lactating for 24 hours but she cannot reach to lick her bits, how can i help her as i do not want to lose her and/or the puppies.
1 yr old pup spayed 1 wk ago. tonight had check up at the vet and she said she has developed a seroma. unless it gets bigger or her behaviour changes, shouldnt need to be drained. do i wait it out and if so what do i do while we wait?
I rescued a dog that needed a leg amputated. After amputation he had a drain in that was removed today, however, yesterday evening he fell and started bleeding from the drain site. The vet looked this morning and said it looked fine but I don’t think he got to see how much it is actually bleeding. The drain was removed and I bandaged him at home at around noon to catch the blood. It is now 8am and he has bled enough for me to need to change the bandage and I can see it is actively dripping blood. Before he fell he just dripped serum whereas now I believe it is more blood than serum. I’m not sure if this is normal and will heal on its own or if he should be seen again either by the emergency vet tonight or my regular vet in the morning?

Dawn Ferara, DVM I think if you are that concerned you need to contact your vet and if you feel the bleeding is excessive you need to have him seen by an emergency vet this evening. This definitely needs to be seen by vet to be sure any drainage from the surgery site is normal.
Good Luck

Species: Dog
Age: 4
Sex/Neuter status: Not neutered
Breed: Weimaraner
Body weight: 66lbs
History: He started showing sings of what appeared to be the mange at 3 y-o. Before this he was completely healthy and hadn’t had any sorts of trouble or illnesses. He was taken to 4-5 different vets and he had some studies done where they determined he had staphylococcus aureus on his skin. Most of them agreed that it was mange and suggested the following treatments (at different times, to no avail):
* Inyected clindamycin
* Ciprofloxacin tablets
* Cephalosporin (don’t know if tablets or capsules)
* Omega 3 and 6
* B complex and casein shots
* Shampoo with amitraz
* Florfenicol .6% spray
* Aluspray
* Antisebhorreic shampoo
And he is currently on an hypoallergenic salmon diet with special food.
Clinical signs:
* Weight loss
* Very swollen paws and skin in general
* Hair loss
* Loss of appetite
* Ulcers
* Lethargic
* Some fever here and there
* Redness in his eyes

What could this be? What can we do for him? We’ve tried everything and it seems like nothing works and we’re scared to death. We want him to get better.

Alejandra Torres He already had bloodwork and nothing showed up, in the skin scrape they just detected bacteria and in the skin biopsy they caught the staphyloccocus aureus. No fungi in any of those.
He was also seen at a vet teaching hospital by both students and doctors and most of them agreed on mange and one has been studying his case closely to no avail.

Alejandra Torres They are not in the US and not anywhere close to a border city at all. We are desperate which is why I’ve come here to ask online since we’ve taken it to plenty different vets on the city and outside the city and spent amounts on the thousands to get him better, which is not a problem because we love him but we are truly worried and aside from the staphyloccocus aureus on his studies, nothing else has shown.
They’ve urged their vet and themselves which is why they’ve gone to so many different providers and have tried all the treatments as prescribed to no avail.
Hello Betsy, if your dog is in pain you need to pop her to the Vet and find out what is causing it. If you are certain its her hips she may have Hip Dysplasia which is a whole different ball game.
Any medication you give her needs to be prescribed by a Vet….and only a Vet. She may need x rays too. This really is not something you can treat at home yourself without guidance from a professional.
flexadrin. safe for animals and humans. can be purchased online and at most pharmacies and drug stores. it repairs and helps with inflammation and pain.. it is a natural product. im using it for more than twenty abused and stray animals. excellent even for athritis and any joint pains.
No offence intended Sonia but it is not safe to diagnose and medicate dogs without professional advice and guidance.
none taken i have used flexadrin on more than 40 dogs and cats and there is no side effect. its totally natural. and it works
