She Has Her Parvo Shots But Her Sister Passed Away From An Unknown Illness And…

She has her parvo shots but her sister passed away from an unknown illness and I’m just worried that she might have got It. she has been really stressed recently and she’s been staying at numerous peoples house until we get the area disinfected at her home and she has been eating a multitude of different dog food she is used to Alpo and blue diamond but at other peoples house she has been eating kibbles and bits could be what’s wrong with her and what do I need to do to help her get rid of the diarrhea is an online that before at night tell me that I needed to keep her away from food and water for 12 hours. This seems kind of confusing to me thing as whenever someone has diarrhea they need to keep fluids to stay from dehydrating I’m very confused as to what to do.

Hi Angel, you need to take her to the Vet urgently!

Never mind starve her, keep her away from water….this is a 3 month old puppy who has just lost her sibling from an unknown illness. Plus shes been here there and everywhere, fed different foods (why didn’t you get her food to send with her?)  and could have picked up any infection going. …now shes got diahrrea and is vomiting?

Why aren’t you at the Vet already?!

  2. Angel Medlock

The puppy that my friend was talking about on this post is not mine she doesn’t think that there’s anything stomach t
messed up I was just trying to let if she kept her away from water with her being as little as she is that she could get dehydrated really fast as much as she’s been passing diarrhea

  3. julie brader

Oh I see…..apologies to you Angel, you should have made it clear this wasn’t your puppy. Well I hope your friend takes her to the Vet urgently or she could easily lose her like her sibling.

  4. Angel Medlock

I’m sorry my keyboard is messed up what I meant to say I was just trying to let my friend know that keeping her away from water wasn’t going to do anything but dehydrate hurt and hurt her even more she asked 2 online vets and I told her to keep her away from food and water for 12 hours I did not believe that she should do this I was just trying to get confirmation from people that I know would give us the right information.

  5. Angel Medlock

The vet told them not to feed her anything or to give her any water what you

  6. julie brader

As our Vet Krista said…keeping water away from a puppy this young is dangerous! Shes just 3 months old…..dehydration can set in very easily at thaf age and she could die from it….shes already vomiting and has diarrhea..and already losing fluid. There is no messing about with puppies….this one needs a Vet now. I hope your friend realises that.

  7. julie brader

I don’t want to speak out of turn here Angel…but doesn’t your friend realise how serious this is? This pup could still have Parvo even though shes had her shots. Her sibling died…..this puppy is very ill and needs to see a Vet urgently. I don’t understand why people get dogs and then risk their lives…it astounds me

  8. Molly Bitch

Hey it’s my fucking dog and if you don’t like the way I’m doing shit the GET THE FUCK OFF THE POST THIS IS FOR SERIOUS HEARTFELT ANSWERS ONLY. If you have the money to send me to take my dog to the vet then by all means send it to me and I will take her because I had 4 dogs, my MEDICAL dog my husbands hunting dog, a dog that has been with me for 3-4 years, and this new puppy that was a rescue now then you don’t know the WHOLE STORY SO BACK THE FUCK OFF BECAUSE MY MEDICAL DOG WAS POISONED AND MY DOG THAT I HAVE HAD FOR 3-4 YEARS HAD TORN OFF HIS TOE NAIL AND SO I TOOK THE HUNTING DOG AND HIM TO THE FUCKING VET TO GET THEM TREATED AND SAFE THEN I GOT MY PUPPY AND NOW SHE IS DOING THIS SO BACK THE FUCK OFF AND DON’T JUDGE BECAUSE YOU CAN’T SAY SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING!!!

  9. julie brader

No need for the abuse. You asked for advice on here. You got it.

  10. Angel Medlock

Very rudely I might add. Also you were the one who called her out on what you seemed to believe was wrong. We asked for sincere heartfelt advice and your first comment was very sarcastic and rude.

  11. Molly Bitch

EXACTLY I don’t see how people like you are allowed around animals at all. My dogs would all bite you if they met someone so rude and judgemental

  12. Angel Medlock

What you have to understand is there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye. People are trying to poison our dogs my beagle lab mix as well. You made it sound as if we aren’t doing anything at all Molly has taken her dogs to the vet several times her vet I’ll as of this moment is incredibly steep. She loves her fur babies and treats them like her children. I can attest to this because her puppies visit me everyday. You almost make it sound like she doesn’t take care of them, but you’re seriously mistaken.

  13. Angel Medlock

And Cleopatra has been to the vet test came back negative for canine distemper, adenovovirus type two, parainfluenza, and the parvovirus that is why we tried searching online to see what could be wrong. Before you assume we don’t take care of our animals.

  14. Angel Medlock

That and we wouldn’t be searching online for help if we didn’t care.

  15. Molly Bitch

Hmm i’m blocked really this lady shouldn’t have stuck her nose into my business nice try though you wanna block somebody then block the one that wants to start the attitudes and sarcasm crap BY THE WAY MY DOG IS FINE SO DON’T RUN YOUR MOUTH WHERE IT AIN’T WANTED PEACE OUT

He Walks Great The Further Away He Is From The House And Is Amazing On…

He walks great the further away he is from the house and is amazing on leash. But I can’t always be carrying him or dragging him for that first little bit. I have searched everywhere but most things are on leash pulling and getting a puppy used to a leash. I could really use some help.

I agree, it takes time for a little pup to build confidence! He is tiny and just spending time with him in the yard working with his basic commands and puppy treats will get him confident. Soon he will be dragging you everywhere! I started carrying small tidbits of treats in my pocket and after pottying I would treat him. Then walking around the house with the leash attached to me as he gets older taught him to watch me and when he had that connection I would begun to walk side by side him outside and keep eye contact when I switched direction and he had to switch with me. I would give him the command to sit occasionally and then treat him. Soon I said his name…then pointed to my nose then a treat when he had eye contact. It takes time and patience to teach them to connect with you and time will build his or her confidence.

Adult spayed female dog, brownish discharge smelling like vinegar …? Twice in two weeks; first time it wasn’t clear where it came from. No other signs or symptoms.

Yes, will be watching carefully. The first time I just found the “splat” and it was no telling where, who or what it came from. I’m assuming probably vagina but not sure (the second time I found it was on her bedding. She doesn’t lick anywhere excessively, there are no changes in drinking or urination, no other signs I can see. Once she left a tiny poop on the bed; found that in the morning, kind of surprised me. It was a tiny grumple and it never happened again. Doesn’t have diarrhea or mucous or anything wrong with the stools either. Had one little regurg few days back but it was normal in color and happened only once. No strange smells coming from her anywhere. No scratching, no head shaking other than what I’d consider normal.

It’s particularly the vinegar-like smell that really confuses me. WHAT smells like vinegar?

  2. Jana Post author

What would make it smell that way? Only those two times, otherwise it looks and smells fine.

  3. Jana Post author

No further funny discharge last 48 hours. Going in for semi-annual soon, so I’ll bring it up; as well as see the vet sooner if repeats. Strange, though…

vet.  your dog needs a vet.  your dog may have internal injuries and without a vet’s intervention your dog may die.  you should be at the vet NOW.

If your pet has increased the amount of water for his or her diet and get plenty of excersis, eats, and sleeps, and pottys regularly then there’s nothing to fear

  2. julie brader

Hi Ashlyn….no disrespect to Erick but excessive drinking could be a sign of diabetes…..and its been going on a long time too.

You do need to find the money from somewhere to take her to a Vet and tell him whats been happening.

  3. Erick Schindler

No disrespect tooken but isn’t it true that if ur pet has dieabities wouldn’t there be other symptoms like increased appatiet, lack of motivation, increased intake of water, etc.

  4. julie brader

Not necessarily Erick depending on the severity of the diabetes. If she were my dog I would have her Vet checked and tested.

  5. Erick Schindler

Oh and kidney failure vision failure uti weight loss
But u said its been almost a year and it was only increase in your animals water intake I hostely think that her animal is fine but if these other systems accure I would bet it is diabetes

  6. Ashlyn Allison

It is just hard to tell because she has always drank a lot of water, but I just started to worry because I have read something about schnauzers being a weird breed and it is common for them to get diabetes when they get older

  7. Ashlyn Allison

Okay. Thank you. Is there a possibility that there won’t be anything wrong? She has always drank a lot of water but its just been more water lately. I fill her bowl up using empty water bottles and i fill up the bowl with about 3 water bottles a day. I just don’t know if that’s a lot or not. I’m just concerned because I heard its common in schnauzers to get diabetes or something at an old age and that schnauzers are a weird breed.

What can I add…take the advice of the Vet from this website !!

  2. Ashley jenkins

thank you for answering, i took her to the vet. he said she didn’t have a fever a doesn’t have any abnormal discharge as far as he could tell. he didn’t seem too concerned at all, but he doesn’t know my dog like i do. i really feel there is something wrong. the pups are now 9 weeks old and arent really nursing anymore. when i let her out to play they basically attack her and try to nurse but i pull them off her and she growls and nips at them. but I noticed that after they do actually nurse a bit is when it seems like she doesn’t feel well. ive done research, gone to the vet and contacted other vets all with no answers. i don’t know what else to do

my dog have all of a sudden lost all his weight and starting to refuse his food. you can see his bones and im starting to worry about him can someone help me

  1. julie brader

Hello Ashleigh, I’m sorry to hear this. You don’t say how old your dog is or if he is still eating and drinking. However, with symptoms like this you need to take him to a Vet urgently and have some tests done to see whats causing his weight loss. Please do take him,  weight loss like this means theres something serious going on.

  2. Ashleigh Mcguinness

hes onli 3 and its my first dog myself after moving out. i dont have money for a vet at the minute. i have gave him a worming tablet and have another to give him. he is drinking and he will eat some out of my hand but not alot

  3. julie brader

Ashleigh please do NOT worm him at the moment unless you are 100% certain he has worms and they are causing his weight loss. You could make his problems worse and scouring his stomach with a wormer will not help him at all. Please do not put any further strain on his already weak system.

Please….you have to find the money from somehere to take him to a Vet. Borrow it, phone all the Vets see if they will let you have a payment plan….sell something..anything to get him to the Vet. If you don’t get this problem treated he will become even more ill than he is now. If all else fails take him to  shelter where he will receive the treatment he needs and let them rehome him with someone who has the funds to care for him properly.

  4. Ashleigh Mcguinness

i am caring for him.. i dont want him rehomed.. im not working atm thats why i dont have the money and have nothin of value to sell.

  5. julie brader

As I said he will continue to go downhill unless you get this treated. Phone Animal Charities to see if they will help with the Vet bill…but he needs to see a Vet. Simply saying you are not rehoming him is not solving the problem …and you are not putting your dog first.

  6. Ashleigh Mcguinness

well just to let u knw he has startin eating again nd is drinking plenty and he is getting his energy back after he was wormed so for you to tell me to rehome my dog was wrong.. if i wasnt putting my dog first i wouldnt have been lookin for advice.. and apparently he had ate a slug thats wat made him so sick and loose weight

  7. julie brader

From the symptoms you described your dog needed a Vet urgently. He obviously had worms. I’m pleased hes recovered. I would advise anyone who cannot care for a sick dog properly i.e. take him or her to a Vet…then let him or her go to someone who can.
You should not have a dog if you cannot afford Vet fees.

  8. Ashleigh Mcguinness

have ever struggled with not having a job. its not easy and vets can cost a fortune this is the first dog ive owned and like i said i was asking for advice not for someone to tell me to give him away. i panicked because he was sick and i had neva had to deal with it before. im not giving him away to anyone else

  9. julie brader

Stop taking it so personally Ashleigh. Its the same as I would say to anyone who couldn’t afford Vet bills. It wasn’t intended to offend you. To answer your question, yes I’ve struggled too…like most people these days. I’ve had situations where my dig needed the Vet and I didn’t have the cash…but I’ve robbed Peter to pay Paul, begged and borrowed to get them there. When you get a job I think you should consider getting him Insured. You won’t have this situation then..Vet fees will be covered. As I said you should always put your dog and his needs and care first…and that includes visits to the Vet if he needs them.

  10. Ashleigh Mcguinness

if the worming tablets didnt bring him round then i was going to take him to the vets yes. but i am only young myself and as ive said its my first proper pet and i panicked just

  11. julie brader

We all panic with our first dog its a big responsibility having an animal.you love totally dependant on you. You won’t get unconditional love from a person like you get from a dog though….and its all worth it. You will learn as you go along like we all do…and 40 odd years down the line you’ll be answering questions on her too lol
I’m really pleased hes ok now and take care ok ?

  12. Ashleigh Mcguinness

sori for being snappy with u
