We Got A New Kitten, And Ever Since Then, My 13 Year Old Cat…

We got a new kitten, and ever since then, my 13 year old cat has been vomiting. She acts normal otherwise, and is aggressive towards the kitten. She still eats though.

    Likely stress
Make sure you’re giving established kitty attention
    Supervise play
Perhaps a pheromone collar or feliway

I would call the vet that did the extraction and ask these questions.  They may need to do a followup check.

  2. Dawn Ferara, DVM

You need to return to your vet for a recheck as soon as you can.

    Good Luck!

    Dr Dawn

Yesterday He Kinda Cried Out When Someone Touched His One Side Of The Face…

Yesterday he kinda cried out when someone touched his one side of the face! But we checked no marks or cuts. Well he seemed ok after a few hours after then today he seemed really different a lot calmer didn’t wanna get out of bed his usual normal things he did during the morning wasn’t the same! He then starting to walk funny now he refuses to walk he won’t come upstairs unless he’s carried! He usually runs around when husband gets home but he stayed on the couch wouldn’t move I had to kinda help him off the couch to even go near my husband but he still didn’t act the same! Even when my son coming home from school he’s always waiting happily at the door but he just lays on the couch! Also he’s been shaking here and there! He’s eating now but wasn’t he’s drinking and peeing! He hasn’t went number two today except this morning a little! He was running around fine yesterday just minus the touching his face a few time! Other then that he was ok ! It’s scaring me. then today he seems not to be getting better, he starting crying he wont stand up. he does still use the bathroom and hes drinking!

Hello Carrie, there is obviously something very wrong with your dog. We can’t tell you what but he needs to see a Vet urgently.

It could possibly be a toxin or poison the way it started on his face and has spread….though it could be something else entirely.

You need to take him to a Vet urgently. Someone on here mentioned Care Credit perhaps you could try them…but this is an emergency it seems your dog is getting worse and needs urgent treatment.

unfortunately, urinating blood means he may have crystals or a blockage and this can be life threatening.  can you contact your vet and work out a payment plan, or maybe look into Care Credit?  this is something that needs to be resolved immediately, with no delays.

  2. Cheryl Cornell

He is urinating a real good amount to. I live in Rhode Island do you know of any organizations or vets that might be able to help?

  3. Anonymous

well, i would call YOUR vet first and discuss the problem. they’re the ones who have a working knowledge of your cat (they DO see your cat annually, right?) and are the best place to start.

  4. Cheryl Cornell

I have his vet in Warwick but they well not see him on an IOU

  5. Anonymous

ask them for suggestions on where else you can go, or organizations that can help with cost deferral…and seriously, investigate Care Credit. it’s basically a credit card, and the first year is interest-free.

  6. Cheryl Cornell

So I just went online and applied for care credit and contacted the aspca waiting to be contacted hope they call soon don’t want anything bad happening to my baby

  7. Anonymous

good luck, Cheryl. i hope you can get him help.

  8. Cheryl Cornell

He was diagnosed with a UTI and given amoxicillin and luckily he didn’t have any blockage they said he was pretty empty that he was urinating enough but that if he isn’t better soon they would like to do blood work its a shame how much money vets want just to walk in the door.

i’m so glad you took him in, and i’m so glad you got a diagnosis!

2 yr old female dog. Normally super active is very sluggish and will only eat if hand fed will not drink

This is concerning if it lasts more than a day. Did the dog get into anything? Dont worry about food as much as water.  If you can get smart water, it is water with electrolytes in it and will help with dehydration,.

  2. Brian Delesandro

Haven’t seen her get into anything. She has a hard time jumping onto the couch which is her bed. Seems she is favoring her back end

  3. Lisa Pfab

Then I would assume she is in pain, if she is able to move then give her crate rest, complete rest for a few days.

  4. Loz McGaffin

Hello Brian, generally if a dog is off its food(when usually a healthy eater) it can suggest pain, and if she is favouring her back end it could be very likely that she has thrown her back out(especially if,as you mentioned, she is normally really active) this is only a suggestion of course,it also could be internal(constipation?) I’d get always intouch with your vet if you have reason to be continually worried, but hopefully it IS something less threatening, such as a slipped disc, which can right itself within a few days. (Panadol is safe for dogs, for moderate pain,at a rate of 25/30 mg per kg)Also watch for her toilet habits,if she can’t ‘go’ a dose of oil will help move things along(just house hold variety olive/veg oil,can work and is safe.(depending on her size,I’d start a dose at about a t-spoon per 10kg,and work from there over a col of days.I hope some of this helps, but please remember,it’s just my suggestions, going on the small amount of information you gave. I’d certainly call a vet if she doesn’t perk up soon.

    Cheers,Lori ?

  5. Loz McGaffin

P.s. a basic way to check for pain,is with their temps.this can be done an old fashioned way of gently feeling inside her ears for over heat, paws also for more than normal warmth. But you can also gently perform rectal temp check, with a normal(disinfected)thermometer.no more insertion than about 2cm.normal parameters for a healthy dogs temp is 38.3 to 38.7*℃ ?.best of luck with your girl.

So, We Have A Kitten About 4 To 5 Months. We Noticed That For The…

So, we have a kitten about 4 to 5 months. We noticed that for the past couple of weeks, his stomach grows bigger and bigger. Now, his rear legs and tail are paralyzed. So, he walks with his two front legs and drags his rear legs. Also, he would always eat whenever we give him food. However, we noticed that he haven’t urinated or discharged. We would put him inside a box, so he could sleep. As he tries to sleep, his hands would shake every now and then. We also noticed that his heart beats fast sometimes, even when he’s sleepin’. And, he doesn’t have any voice when he speaks. I don’t know if it’s odd that he kneads and purrs, especially with his condition. So, today’s his 3rd day and nothing have changed. I tried lookin’ for any reasons behind his condition or what it’s called, but I couldn’t find any. We couldn’t bring him to the vet, especially because of the weather right now here. And, my Dad thinks it’s expensive and it would cost a lot of money if we bring him to the vet.

    Hello Alya

This cat needs a Vet URGENTLY right now!!! hes in critical condition and you cannot leave him suffering like this.

His stomach is probably full of urine if he hasn’t urinated….leave him much longer and his bladder will burst.

Take him to a Vet now…emergency.I’m sorry but you should not have pets if you are not prepared to give them the correct care. Its cruel to leave your cat in pain. VET NOW.

  2. Aleia Samonte

    Alright, thank you so much.

  3. Aleia Samonte

Well, his stomach becomes a bit smaller now. And, he had urinated and defecated yesterday. Also, we saw his legs moved one time.

  4. julie brader

And you still haven’t taken him to the Vet?? Whether hes urinated or not this kitten is in pain! Hes paralysed!! How long are you going to leave him suffering? I’m sorry but when you get a pet it’s your responsibility to mske sure its in good health and has medical care when needed. Please! Take this cat to the Vet!!!!

you can try tuna packed in water to get him to eat. but you need to see a vet asap.
