Got This 3-4 Week Kitten Who Needed A Home And Appears To Have A Twisted/angular …

Got this 3-4 week kitten who needed a home and appears to have a twisted/angular wrist. He was most likely born with this deformity since I don’t believe his legs cause him any pain. He is starting to walk and it is becoming a bit of a struggle.
Can someone recommend me any options? I don’t want to go to the Vet just now because i know it will end being costly with X-rays and such. Right now i’m considering splinting, but I also want to know other options like maybe messages, etc. He is doing pretty well, but since he does sometimes walk, supporting his leg on the leg twisted (the bone, rather than his paw), i’m afraid it’ll become a future problem when he’s older.

    Hello.

If you follow my blog at kmdvm.blogspot.com I have a few articles on this. I would use a soft splint and rest. These kittens grow and the legs strengthen and they can have normal lives. If you are anywhere near me in northern Maryland I will help.

How Can I Best Extract Bowels From My Injured Cat? She Is Not Using The Litter …

how can i best extract bowels from my injured cat? she is not using the litter box, but there is some leakage. she has no tone in her anus and most likely is healing from nerve damage. i have figured out how to extract her bladder. she is still eating and lively. more details of her condition and our process to support her below.

moonstone is about a year old and showed up at our house 4 months ago brave and spirited. she disappeared for a week and came back with a serious injury. we took her to the er because she was leaking urine and had a limp tail and left hind leg. we learned that her bladder needed to be urgently expressed and that her bowels were backed up. we also learned that she had a tail avulsion and a fracture in her left femoral joint. they expressed her bladder and bowels and sent us home with pain meds and anti-inflammatory medication. we went to aspca the next day hoping to get treatment for her fractured bones, but they suggested nursing her at home and learning how to express her bladder and bowels to see if she could regain control and tone in her anus. they said that maybe in a few weeks she could regain feeling and be able to use the bathroom on her own, and then they would consider amputating her tail and treating her leg. we have quickly learned how to express her bladder, but are struggling to get her to poop. please help us keep moonstone alive!

    Hello

I’m sorry to hear about your cat.

I think that you need to find a veterinarian or a veterinary technician who can show you how to do this. I would also recommend you start gentle physical therapy and feed canned food to keep the feces soft and able to pass more easily.

Hey, My 11 Month, 5 Week Pregnant Cat, Suffered A Very High Fall Yesterday, After She Managed To …

Hey, my 11 month, 5 week pregnant cat, suffered a very high fall yesterday, after she managed to escape from the house, and she returned with inability to walk properly on both her back legs, and i suspect it is a pelvic fracture, I’m a broke college student and Cannot afford a surgery, what limited research i did online made to think that euthanasia is the only solution, but I’ve been constantly monitoring her, she is comfortable, resting in her favourite place, she is purring, i fed her with a syringe and gave water to her the same way, i kept her litter box near here, and she did get up and pooped in it, what can I do, please help me save my baby????

If you cannot afford proper care, please consider surrendering her for adequate care. She needs to be seen by a vet immediately…ESPECIALLY if she’s pregnant!

I saw a video on YouTube saying that if they are able to poop and pee, given enough rest, they are able to recover, is it true? I’ve also booked a vets appointment for tomorrow to get their openion. I just wanted to know if this strict resting method works or not, I also arrenged enough to get a surgery

Depending on how the pelvis is broken, it can recover without surgery. You’d need an x-ray to see how it’s broken and if it can recover without surgery. She will need pain medication and her movement needs to be restricted.
The problem is: she is pregnant. Giving birth with a broken pelvis is not only extremely painful, it can kill her and/or the kittens. She may not be able to push them out herself, or they may get stuck.

So even if she does not need surgery right now, she may need a c-section. She needs to be monitored closely if she starts to give birth you need to have a vet where you can go immediatly if she needs help – or depending on how exactlky you know er day of pregnancy plan the c section beforehand.

I wish you the best of luck with her. It’s great that you try to help her and managed to get some money together. It really means a lot that you are going to help her.

    Hello.

I’m sure this isn’t what you are hoping for.. but my advice is:
I strongly recommend that you have your cat spayed now. If she suffered a pelvic fracture she may not be able to deliver the kittens and they will die inside her which will kill her.
She also needs to be in a cage 24/7 no exception. If she is rested in a cage for 8 weeks the bones should heal. (I have never had a young cat heal), but I am serious about the cage rest and the spay. I know you are worried about finances but your cat needs to be spayed anyway so let’s try to avoid a bigger problem and more devastating sequela.

Hi! My Dog Is A 3m Old Shepherd Mix And She Was Attacked By Another Dog, …

hi! my dog is a 3m old shepherd mix and she was attacked by another dog, she has multiple fractures in her jaw. I was referred by Dr. Trout to UPenn but they’re quoting 6-10k and I just dont have it, I’m very young so no one will lend to me and rescues that I’d contacted basically said they would euthanize because of the costly procedure, shes only a baby and I really want to save her, is there any financial aid for hardships like this anyone can recommend? Dr Trout said to get in contact with Dr. Magnifico and her practice referred me here to get in contact with

    Hello,
I’m sorry to hear about your pup. I spoke to two of the vets who are taking care of your dog to try to get a better idea of what kind of injured there are. This is absolutely imperative to try to formulate the cost of treatment. In some cases a broken bone can be more affordably managed by a splint or cast IF very very!!! strict cage rest is implemented for the 6-8 weeks that it takes for a bone to heal. But your pup has a brown jaw which needs to be stabilized very quickly so your dog can go back to eating normally. We don’t have weeks to see if it heals.

The degree of injury is so severe that a surgeon (an expert and not a regular surgeon like me or other vets) is needed. We have no margin of error to oaky with. UPenn had the best of the best and that’s why you are being sent there. They are not a rescue or non profit. If you don’t have the ability to pay for this (provably over $5,000) then your options are very limited. There are some pet care financial services like a credit card, care credit, go fund me , selling items, or asking friends and family. If those aren’t options I strongly recommend you look into rescues you can surrender her to so she can be treated and find a home. Otherwise there is only suffering with a very badly injured mouth where she may never be able to eat or euthanasia.

In cases like this I know it’s hard but if anyone will take her and take care of her I urge you to let her go to them.

As a personal note I will offer this. Before I went to vet school o found a puppy walking on the street in Balt Maryland. I had her for two days while I tried ti find her family. On day three she became very sick. So sick she needed to go to the er. I was 21. She came up positive for Parvo. The er bill was $200. The estimate to care for her was $3,000. Which I didn’t have. It killed me to have her put down. KILLED. so much so that I decided then and there I would never be in that position again. I went to vet school 8 years later. If anyone has offered to care for her I would have been so grateful. But no one did. Or would in those days. Sick puppies were everywhere.

    I wish you the best.

If no one will take her call my clinic jarrettsville Veterinary Center. I will see if I can get a rescue to take her.

Is It Normal That The Vet Wants To Amputate The Leg Due To 2 Small Fractures

Is it normal that the vets want me to amputate my kittens hind left leg due to a small fracture in the hip and a fracture above the knee. I had to take him late at night so it was to an emergency pet clinic and they were so very discouraging about me finding someone to repair his leg. I also never saw the X-ray of the one above the hip and when I asked for the X-rays they did not give them to me told me I had to wait for the vet to release them to me and they sent me the report without the X-rays in the report.

    Hello,
Please go to your normal vet, or make an appointment with a vet that your friends and family recommend and if you still aren’t comfortable wirh the answer ask for a referral to a surgeon. Depending on age and the fracture I usually tell every client wirh a young growing otherwise healthy pet to try strict cage rest (they are kept in the cage 24/7 for 4 weeks to see if the fracture will heal. Also make sure they get their routine pet care and are spayed as soon as they are healed. I never amputate without giving them a chance to heal as long as it is safe to do so.

I’m sorry to hear about your cat. This cannot be answered without an in person exam and review of the radiographs. I strongly recommend that you seek a specialists help and give her rest in a cage so she cannot hurt herself further.

  2. Zhai Hui

I know that. But here in Indonesia, we don’t have any specialist. So idk what to do again now.

maybe you can help me to interpret these xray results? I add another xray from different position. So i hope you can help me by giving a good interpretation of my cat’s results here

Without knowing what, exactly, is wrong, no vet can give you a prescription. Please get your bird to the vet.
