Please help!
I have a 3 week old kitten whos mother died so she has been bottle fed , she recently starting drinking out of a bowl and when she ran out of milk i went to get more, she normally has raw goats milk but i couldnt find any anywhere so i went to pets at home and got some kitten milk instead , whilst i was there the vet suggested trying to get her to start eating food, so i got some wet food and put a small amount in her bowl and mixed it with milk, she loved it! It is likely more inflammation than actually abscess.  I would try getting him to see a vet for treatment as soon as you can.

I’m 27 And Have Had My Dog Since College. He’s A 6-year-old Male Cockapoo Who…

I’m 27 and have had my dog since college. He’s a 6-year-old male Cockapoo who I adore, and who is normally in great health (besides the occasional ear infection). I take him on an hour and half walk daily, feed him a potato and duck based diet, and make every attempt to give him the best care possible (regular vet check-up, shots, etc).

A couple months ago I realized he was frequently squatting to pee, but nothing comes out. He urinates normally when first let out, but then makes a ton of other squats, prolonged squats, where nothing or just a few drops comes out. At times, its almost impossible to walk at all as he will continue to squats over and over again for 30 minutes. He hasn’t had any incontinence or more than normal desire to go outside (except for every now and then, when he’ll go out, pee once, then keep squatting over and over again and want to go out soon after- but that’s not daily). However, I woke up this morning to a couple drops of blood on the carpet, which I can only assume were from his many attempts. Previously, there has been no presence of blood in his urine.

I’ve been to the vet SEVERAL times, and spent the majority of my savings and money trying to figure out what’s wrong (even with vet insurance, I’ve spent almost all I have). He has had a cystoscopy (camera inserted) to check for urethral cancer (none), full abdominal ultrasound, plenty of x-rays and blood tests done. They have ruled out bladder cancer, his blood work is normal, and the x-rays show nothing except a slightly enlarged liver (though since blood work is normal so they think the was born with it). They have ruled out a UTI, bladder stones, and just about everything else you can think of that would seem obvious. The only abnormalities are really the dysuria, mildly protruding abdomen, the appearance of a layer of fluid on the outside of his bladder, and some abnormal bacteria.

Please help. I can’t afford much more and I really love my dog.

first of all, i’m so sorry for your losses and all of your upheaval.  that’s a lot to deal with all at once.  i hope you’re doing okay.

secondly, he may just need reacclimation to your home.  please try to be patient with him.  my male cat was this way when i brought him home from the shelter…he was absolutely NUTS for a while.  the only thing that really helped was increased interactive playtime, so i bought a wand toy and went “fishing.”  that seemed to help.

3yr old Don Sphynx has really bad URI, vet gave 2 weeks of synulox (amoxicilin) with no improvement, so conuclide it mus be viral. Just started l lysine, for a few days and his symptoms appear to be getting worse. his eyes are clear but hes deeply congested and sneezing considerably more mucus everywhere, and sneezing frequently. does the l lysine make things initially appear to be getting worse? As in, loosening the mucus that’s there? Or will he need other treatment? he hasn’t had any booster jabs for a long time since a kitten.

…there are too many variables here.  why are your dogs not spayed and neutered?  keeping them together and letting them breed is irresponsible.  there are low cost spay and neuter clinics in every state.  please get her spayed, as well as your other bitch, if you’re not going to neuter the dogs.

Hello there. I am no expert but i still want to try to help you out. First of all, you didnt mention if it’s her first litter or not. Second, i think that the dog’s health, in some cases, is most valuable for a diagnosis than her age (as a number). I’ve seen 3 y old dogs in a awful shape and i’ve seen 11 y old dogs running after a surgery for pyometra. Crazy. That being said, if she’s fit and fine and healthy i think she is perfectly capable of giving birth at that age. Keep in mind she still needs to go through exams to check if everything is running smoothly. After that, you will need to protect the mother and the puppies and think about getting her spayed if you don’t want this to happen again.

    Hope this helped.

    Good luck!

i would get her spayed.  it’s the safest for her.

I just adopted a Maltese and he keep coughing at night like a hacking sound and wanting to know what we can do to help him till we can get him to a vet next Friday?

How old is this dog? If he is an older adult I would suspect an enlarged heart.  During the day dogs with this condition are up and round and don’t cough, but when they settle down at night to sleep they feel the pressure of the heart pressing on their lungs and they start coughing.  While this condition can not be cured, your pooch can live years symptom free with the proper care.

We haven’t took him to a vet because I don’t have a day off till Friday. He is 10 to 12 years old.
