IVDD Advice – my two year old Frenchie has recently been diagnosed with IVDD. Two weeks ago he was playing and suddenly started laying on his side and couldn’t get up. I took him to the vet the same day and they did an X-ray and tests that the vet suspects IVDD. The nearest clinic for an mri is two hours away and the cost is more than I can afford

He has been on trazodone, gabapentin, and muscle relaxers for two weeks, but after the fifth day he returned back to his normal self. I’m having a hard time keeping him calm and he tries jumping in the crate and pulls on the leash when I walk him outside to potty. I’ve gotten multiple kongs and slow feeders but he’s still bored. I even got a dog stroller with a screen on it but he’s still too active. Any tips?

Also how do I keep this from happening again? I have another Frenchie that he loves to play with. Can he run and play after the crate rest?

My dog is a 7 year old beagle cross that loves to wander in our lush paddocks. Yesterday morning he came back from his morning border patrol rather sheepishly and i noticed a red swollen patch on one side of his muzzle. It was obviously sore the way he didnt want me to touch it and he quivered his lip. I decided to monitor it closely to see if it warranted emergency vet care and it seemed to remain the same throughout the day. It didnt swell up anymore and he seemed to be ok with it. So I decided to not rush him to the vet. However at dinner time I noticed him trying to lick his lip repetitively and then i was shocked to see a weird round bump had appeared. It was clearly uncomfortable for him but there was no vet open at this time of night so I decided to watch him over night as he sleeps in bed with me. He is eating and drinking fine. He has been licking it most of the night but the lump seems to be the same size. It is now 4 am and I am wondering if I should take him to the vet today? What do you think could have caused this? I thought perhaps he just got bitten by an ant or stung by a bee or something.

Allergies? My American Staffy mix just turned 1 year old. Once we started cutting our grass this season and flowers/trees started blooming he is sneezing while outside and he is getting eye boogers frequently (only in 1 eye). Are there dog allergy medications, or is benadryl a viable remedy for him? This wasn’t something we saw last year when we adopted him in early July.

My puppy got spayed 6 days ago. She developed a lump 3 days ago. We brought her to vet and they said it was seroma and reaction to the stitches so put her on antibiotics. Yesterday the lump got bigger then today a little smaller but seems to be getting bigger again. She is acting normal and eating normally. Is it possible this is a hernia?

My cad have abscess on her head what can I do? Which antibiotics will you referring?

Hi Pawbly friends-
We recently (about 3 or maybe 4 weeks ago) had to bring Riva in for tplo surgery. Her recovery is going great. She is gettting tired of the leash now that she is feeling better, but that has to stay until we get the all clear. Being that she is on leash 24/7 we are perplexed as to what possibly could have happened. Suddenly this morning when I went to give her a good morning scratch on the head she whimpered and tucked away. I checked her ears to see if there was any sign of infection- I’m pretty diligent about keeping the dogs’ ears clean and haven’t noticed anything- but I checked anyway. No smell, no redness, no build up that I could tell with the flashlight. Then I slowly massaged her neck to see if I could feel anything, but can’t. She is a tough dog and really doesn’t whimper. She has really been pulling on the leash the past couple days since she is feeling so well. Could it possibly be she pulled or pinched something because of all the leash pulling?

We adopted a rescue cat named Fluffy about 6 months ago. We slowly got her used to our house and about a month ago we let her expand a bit onto the main level of the house (where the other cats are) they all met previously but they’ve only been out and about all together for about a month.

1 of the 3 original cats (Ben) is having territorial issues with Fluffy. He is obsessive over her. He follows her, stares at her, chases her, corners her, and just doesn’t seem to want to stop. She minds her own business but he always finds her.

We’ve gotten extra litter boxes, extra perches, separate feeding areas, feliway diffusers, everything we can think of. But Ben won’t let up.

What can we do?

What can I do for my cat’s teeth? My cat has yellowed teeth and bad breath. His gumline is also red around some teeth. He’s eating and acting normally, but I’m very concerned about his teeth. It’s difficult to get a veterinary appointment where I live due to the pandemic so I’m only able to take him to the vet a month from now. Until I can take him to the vet, what can I do for a month to help his teeth?

My cat has laryngeal paralysis. The surgery is far too expensive, therefore i’m looking into alternatives to treating the laryngeal paralysis. I saw that some vets offer acupuncture and electro acupuncture, which is supposed to stimulate nerve movement and could cure paralysis. Is thing something that would really work? I don’t know much about it but it seems like possibly it could get the nerves around his larynx to work again, then it could move properly? If you could provide me with any information asap I’d appreciate it! 🙂

My cat was diagnosed on Monday with an abscess most likely from dental problems. My cat was given an antibiotic shot at the appointment. The abscess has not gone down. How long does it typically take to go away?
