My 5 yr old house cat won’t stop urinating on my bed and I don’t know why

For how long has this gone on?

This could be medical.  Have you taken your cat in to check for a UTI?  If not, this should be step 1.  Take a fresh urine sample with you, if possible.

This could also be behavioral.  Is your cat stressed?  Do you have two or more litterboxes (one per cat plus one), and does your cat use any of them?  Have you tried different litter types?  Has your schedule changed suddenly, or is someone new in your life?  Could your cat be bored?  Do you use room sprays and scents that might bother him?  Do you have other animals in your home, and could any of them be picking on him?  How about people – do you live with any other people, and could they be harassing or otherwise mistreating him when you’re not around?

She Does Not Have Worms Or Fleas. Her Skin Doesn’t Look Irritated And She Has…

She does not have worms or fleas. Her skin doesn’t look irritated and she has been eating the same food since we have had her. I was just wondering what this could be and what I could do about it to help her hair.

It could be mange.  Get her to the vet for a skin scrape to determine the cause.

  2. Ashley Schauner

I read that mange is contagious and I have 3 other dogs. None of them losing hair like her. Do you think it could be her losing her puppy hair to grow in the adult hair?

  3. Anonymous

There are two types of mange.

    Bald patches are not normal.

I cannot recommend a dose of medication for your dog.  I would contact the prescribing vet to find out their recommendation.

I would recommend a thunder shirt to see if that helps instead of medication.

My cat has developed some bald patches on her back, where her tail is, with small reddish brown scabs underneath. They are the size of pin heads.
Flea reaction? Mange?

Looks exactly like my dogs back right now, and we have a bad case of the fleas. I am calling an exterminator tomorrow, I would recommend doing the same and getting her treated with Front line and a flea collar

He is a fancy mouse btw.

I’m sorry, Charlie, but the picture didn’t upload.  If your mouse has any sudden physical or behavioral changes, he should be seen by your vet.

No.  Not at all.  Please get your turtle to the vet.

  2. Yeganeh Kheradmand

    I can’t…I’m on a vacation in a foreign country

  3. Anonymous

Then whomever is caring for your turtle needs to get it to the vet.

  4. Yeganeh Kheradmand

no one cares can u suggest any medicine ? for one week?

  5. Anonymous

Honestly, I’ve never encountered it before, but I would imagine – assuming this is an aquatic turtle – that it’s due to infection from bad water.

  6. Yeganeh Kheradmand

what!!! I change it every morning…

  7. Anonymous

Is this an aquatic turtle or is this a land turtle? Aquatic turtles live in the water.

  8. Yeganeh Kheradmand

no it’s a European pond turtle I bought one o those tanks which have two parts so it goes to water when ever it wants

  9. Anonymous

And you’re changing the water daily? Hmm. Are you treating the water to ensure it’s safe?

  10. Anonymous

Well, my guess still goes to infection. Unfortunately this *may* require prescribed meds from your vet. As I am NOT a vet, I cannot tell you exactly what might be needed.

He should be okay. Watch his movements for the husks to pass and monitor his behavior and eating much more closely for the next couple of days.

My spaniel has a cut on his rear right leg about 5cm by 2cm. No longer bleeding. Not bothering him. Should I go to a vet

How old is the cut? The 2cm is depth? As a general rule, yes, you should go to a vet. Provided no “functional” tissues are damaged, and if you cannot see a vet, two things that are crucial – cleaning it really well and keeping it infection free. But best policy is to see a vet.

  2. Zac Warn

The cut itself isn’t very deep. 5cm long by 2 wide. Nothing is damage besides what appears to be skin. He is walking on it fine and not even trying to lick it clean. The cut now is about 6hrs old. Rang the emergency vet and they roughly quoted 1600$. That’s to see us, and stitches if needed. It’s cleaned. Waiting upon morning to readjust the situation and see if we need to go to a normal vet

  3. Jana

Oh, so more of a scrape than a cut then. What did you clean it with? Clean is most important. I normally use Betadine solution, rinsing generously. Soapy water I think can be used as well. Then I monitor for it being licked or messed with, as well as for redness, swelling and bad odor. With Cookie’s we were applying raw Manuka Honey. If using bandage, we change 3x daily.

Hello, This Morning I Went To Clean My Cat’s Litter Box And Found Little Droplets…

Hello,
This morning I went to clean my cat’s litter box and found little droplets of blood on the litter box liner, She is drinking normally, however she does seem to be straining to defecate. Otherwise she is roaming around normally.

    Hi,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. The blood spatter was on the outside of the litter box. I could see no traces of blood in her urine. Is it okay if I just observe her for 24 hours ?

  2. jen Hohman Post author

Rugrat is urinating normally, although the urine is a clear yellow. It turns out she was a little constipated. I gave her som maple flavored gel to help get her GI tract back to normal
