Hi….is this a dog you are posting about? If it is, or a cat or any animal with these symptoms needs to see a Vet quickly.

She is not rubbing or trying to clean it. It is almost like she has gotten a hair in it.

There is no swelling, and when she is active or playing it is wide open. it is only when she sit and relaxes it closes about a third of the way.

I wouldn’t worry unless they’re showing signs of pain(Meowing without reason, trying to rub eyes but then yelps or jumps in pain, etc.) or signs of blindness (Running into furniture head on, getting confused if you move a piece of furniture and running into piece of furniture, etc.) And my kitties do this all the time. Usually there’s several reasons why this happens. 1) They have something in their eyes such as goo from sleeping, almost like eye boogers, 2)They are really tired and might have allergies or a cold, 3)They love you (Cats don’t like looking straight into your eyes, they like to almost squint in love, and looking from the corner of their eyes and slow blinking it shows that they love and respect you) 4)They got something stuck in their eyes. If I were you I’d first go and examine their eyes yourself. Check for eye boogers and wipe it away gently if its there. Kitty won’t like this but it has to be done. Look for something in your kitty’s eyes. If you see anything ask yourself if this is something you’d be willing to take out of a child’s eye or something you’d take the child to the doctor for. If it’s something you’d be willing to take out of a child’s eye, first go and wash your hands with soap and water, clip finger nails down so you don’t accidentally poke kitty’s eye and then gently remove the object from the eye. Read kitty’s signal to determine if your kitty is simply angry with you trying to take this out of their eye or if they are crying in pain. If kitty is simply meowing in complaint, continue. If kitty is doing anything and everything to get away from you and is screaming DO NOT continue. Take time to reconsider if you accidentally poked kitty’s eye or if the object is lodged in the eye. If it’s lodged, go to the vet. If you simply had an unsteady hand, you can try again. If you don’t feel comfortable trying again maybe ask a friend to come and try, or simply go to the vet or a pet clinic. If there is nothing in the eye, or if there was eye boogers, wait a couple days and monitor their activity. Do they show signs of sickness, are they sleeping more? Sneezing? If they don’t show any signs, have changes in urine or stools, or change in appetite, but they do show signs of a human like cold they most likely just have seasonal allergies or a little cold. Don’t fret, its not something to be worried about for now. Do a quick google search for some pet safe allergy solutions, my vet has told me that some human medications may be a cheaper but still safe alternative to pet medication. I would do your research and find out what would work best for the symptoms and size and age of your cat. If the cold worsens or more symptoms appear maybe post on here again, and or go to the vet. Just use your best judgement. If there is no sickness, and nothing in their eyes, no signs of blindness, your kitty simply loves you and you need to brush up and learn about kitty language. Cats are subtle creature and demand and need you to know how to read their body language. Cats tell us everything we need to know if we only do our homework and learn to speak cat. They tell us when they’re hungry, that they are mad, happy, sad, in love, afraid, in pain, need the litter scooped, and much more. Do your research and your kitty will be the happiest kitty alive. I hope this helps, let me know if you need help, you can contact me at: emmakat8@live.com
I am a very experienced cat owner and I’m happy to help. I hope it all works out!

    Best wishes,

Thank You. I have had cats for many years and was not really worried as she showed no signs of discomfort, but my husband wanted some kind of answer ( other than mine). There does not seem to be anything in the eye, I was thinking she might have gotten a small scratch from playing with her brother.

I Have A Pug Terrier Mix Who Is Very Sweet And Loving. But, We Have…

I have a pug terrier mix who is very sweet and loving. But, we have a golden retriever in our neighborhood and whenever our dog sees him whether it is through a window or out and about in the neighborhood, he attacks and goes completely insane! One time when I tried to pull him away he even tried to bite me. It is completely out of character for my dog and he is only this way around this particular dog. What is the next step I should take?

honestly, i’d talk to a behaviorist about this.  they can assess your dog’s behavior firsthand and suggest things accordingly.

Whenever My Family And I Touch Our 6 Year Old Maltese Shitzu Back Leg He…

Whenever my family and I touch our 6 year old Maltese Shitzu back leg he yelps in pain? Walks with a limp and from time to time he walks on his right leg only because of it. He has no other health problems and this is very out of the blue? We went to the vet a day after it started (23rd/12th) and she thinks it’s something to do with his muscle but not 100% sure. What do you think it is and what would be the cost?

do you play with him?  my boy used to attack my ankles, back when i first brought him home.  turned out he was bored.  got a bunch of interactive toys and started playing with him and he mellowed out nicely.

this is, of course, assuming that he’s clear of any medical issues.  he’s been to the vet recently, right? 🙂

  2. Shiria

How old is he? I would also say that he is bored. Especially male cats play more rough then females. As humans don’t have thick fur to protect them, it hurts us more than other cats, if they play with us like they would with other cats.

I would also say to play alot with him. Best thing would be another cat companion if he lives alone. That way he can really play like cats do with each other.

But first you need to check if he has medical issues. Sometimes pain can cause such an behaviour.,

unfortunately you’re going to need a vet, and fast.  consider Care Credit?  it works like a credit card and is interest-free for a year.

  2. Shiria

I agree to Laura. Sounds like she needs a vet. Is her tummy bloated? Does she try to vomit, without it working?
If this is bloat, she will die from it, if you don’t take he to a vet Depending on where you are from, try to find a vet, that makes a payment plan or seomething similar. Or maybe the Care Credit that Laura mentiuoned, but plkease take her to a vet..

the brand mentioned has been fatal for a number of pets in the US. i would be more inclined to say the dog has been poisoned rather than experiencing bloat.

My Dog Is A 45 Lb. German Shepherd Mixed With American Terrier 7 Year Old…

My dog is a 45 lb. German Shepherd mixed with American Terrier 7 year old suffering from something that I don’t know. This started about 4 months ago and has progressed to the point to where he constantly needs a cone on. He cobstantly agressivly licks his underbelly to the point where it has become raw and leathery.at times the area is red and swollen and others its is just leathery looking. Sometimes the area is moist and has a foul odor.recently he has started scratching his nose to the point to where he bleeds and when he is pet he favors those ares.please refer tot the pictures I have included. The vets gave him steroids and antibiotics buy that didn’t seem to help.We have also changed his food as recommended by the vet but nothing changed. the skin scrape of the area also came back negative for bacteria and mites. It sucks that I don’t know what the cause is, please help.
