Hello! I Have Been A Follower For A Couple Of Years And You Helped Me To …

Hello! I have been a follower for a couple of years and you helped me to not give up hope when my 15 year old dachshund suffered from cervical IVDD in October….he was completely paralyzed for 1 month and is mostly back to his rambunctious self. Thank you!!
I do have a question. I am currently fostering an old lady chihuahua who has red eyes. I was wondering if you had come across it or have any resources I could use? She does not have conjunctivitis. She sees well, but does appear to startle if we move too quickly. It appears that the cornea and iris are red…like that of a hamster or rat. There is not really any pupil distinction, however, it does not seem as though she suffers from light sensitivity. Thank you for any information that you can provide.

    Hello,
If she wasnt born like this ( a condition where there arent any of the normal pigments present in the eyes, as in forms of albinism) then I would see a vet asap. I would be afraid of neoplasia (can happen in the iris), high blood pressure, and even bleeding disorders. Your vet can do a cursory ophthalmic exam to help identify a problem versus a congenital, or acquired condition. In many cases your vet might want to refer you to a boarded ophthalmologist for confirmation and treatment assistance.

Hello Pawbly friends today I have a few questions today about my female dwarf hamster I just realized 2 days ago when I put her on the floor to run around she falls over her back legs yes she can still walk but falls over with ever couple of steps and I have put a video below of her walking and I did some research and found that it could be possible 2 things and I think it might be cage parallelism so I have been doing what online said and giving her plenty of exercise also she has always had a wheel and tubes in her cage but has stop useing them and no longer runs in her ball so I put her on the floor to run for her exercise when I touch it she does not seem like it hurts and she is eating and drinking fine but is their anything else I can do to help her since I don’t have money for a vet please help and also I found a small bump near her private area which I also put a picture of below

Best advice is to take him to a vet because this sounds more serious than just cuts/scratches on his back. His prognosis is going to depend on the hamster’s age and the ultimate cause of his problem.
    Good Luck!

Hi, yes I sure can. Hibernation could be the case, that’s likely, but for some reason, I don’t think it is the case. I think it is most likely room temperature or sleep deprivation. Don’t worry it isn’t serious. Try changing the temperature of your room. If there are any loud noises try to fix them. The problem with hamsters is they have a lot of problems. They can make you over worried because of their behavior too. If you still think that there is a problem, if problems get worse, or if the problem lingers go to the vet. And do understand they have small life spans. You have to understand this. I think before mastering hampsters try black rats, healthy hedgehogs, and gerbils, long-tailed chinchillas, ferrets, or guinea pigs. They all live longer lives and act like hampsters. Hope you have a good time with your little bud!

My hamster is shuffling around in its belly and can’t lift up his head. He moves a little bit then stops and goes to sleep. He isn’t making any noise and he is a healthy weight. What is wrong with him?

That’s very odd.  Are you sure he CAN’T lift his head?  This sounds like something a vet needs to see in person.

I Have A Long Haired Syrian Hamster, She Loves To Play At Night When She…

I have a long haired Syrian hamster, she loves to play at night when she wakes up, but the thing is I have to get to bed at 9:30, and that’s about the time that she wakes up, sometimes she’s so crazy that I can’t even go to sleep since she’s biting the cage door and going coo-coo! I do play with her in the morning but that doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions? P.S>- One time she got so crazy that she broke the cage and escaped, I found her sleeping in the corner of the bathroom the next morning, I got so scared and sad for her, because that means she REALLY wants to play. What should I do?

Thank you so much, it helped a lot. I will give her tender loving care, I really enjoy playing with her.

Sometimes I just let her roam around on the floor because, just like you said I don’t want to drop her since my sister had a hamster before and the hamster died because she dropped it on the floor and broke her back :(:(
