My Kitten (6 Months) Fell From The Staircase, About 10 Feet Up. A Plastic…

My kitten (6 months) fell from the staircase, about 10 feet up. A plastic cookie container broke her fall. She seems to be alright, but right below her nose, on the right side of her lip, she is red/bruised and winces if it is touched. Aside from that, she has been eating, using her litter, played a little, and has been sleeping most of the day. Just want to know if the bruising is anything to be concerned about, as well as her sleepless after the fall (which I attributed to being shaken up about it).

Hello….10 feet is an awfully long way for a kitten to fall. You need to have her checked over by a Vet to see if there are any other injuries you can’t see….and also to have her nose looked at.

Hello, I Just Adopted A Kitten And I Had A Few Inquires About Her And…

Hello, I just adopted a kitten and I had a few inquires about her and her health. Unfortunately, the previous owner did not know her age, therefore I do not either. The kitten is a Persian breed, at glance I’d say she’s about 5 or 6 weeks old. Please would you tell me what type of food to give her? Prior to my understanding of what cats eat, I have fed her cheese as meals for an entire day; I stopped upon finding out it is not good for them. I have then fed her boiled chicken, though she ate it she did not seem to enjoy it. I plan on buying cat food today however I do not know what brand to get; and since she was getting hungry I fed her smoked turkey rashers and I’m wondering if that would harm her?

    Hi Zain
As she is a kitten – she needs building up like any new animal- get kitten milk -it is called that- NOT normal milk -at the supermarket- this is a food supplement- any good commercial “wet” canned food and you can get biscuits for different age cats
Also the local vet can give you advice – a lot of commercial biscuits are very salty- ask the vet
    regards David

Hi! I Recently Became Foster Mom For A Very Young Rescued Kitten. He Is…

Hi! I recently became foster mom for a very young rescued kitten. He is living in my garage until his first vet appointment. He goes anywhere he wants on the concrete floor. Is there a way to encourage him to use the box? Thanks!

Hi….you don’t say how young he is….but very young animals, like babies have no control over their bladder and bowels.

Give him some time, lots of patience and he’ll get the hang of it as he gets a bit older.

You can try and put him in the box, then take one of his paws and move it in the litter box. If you do it often he should understand it

Yesterday he came in the house to have playtime. After, my daughter sat him in the litter box and he urinated! Thanks so much!

Some kittens this young need to be stimulated to dedicate and or urinate. This is most probably caused by lack of proper nutrients. Carry these kittens to your vet.

Hello, My Kitten Is About To Become 1 Year Old Now, She Has Had Several…

Hello, my kitten is about to become 1 year old now, she has had several health issues that stopped recently and last was a gastro anteritis ( kept vomiting and got dehydrated) that started just around the time I changed her food from Burns to Orijen kitten (about 2 weeks later). I have her on Burns again now as recommended by my vet until she’s 1yo and am considering changing for a grain free food however I am not sure which one to chose. I do consider trying Orijen again however the protein level in that food is much higher than the level she is on right now. My cat is an exotic shorthair neutered female. Here are my 3 choices for the new food:

Would you be able to give me some advise or personal opinion?

    Hello Zee,

I am sorry your kitten wasn’t feeling well.  I am not an expert on food so sorry I can’t help there.  Has your vet run all the basic diagnostics already: ran a fecal and blood sample to rule out a medical problem before changing the diet?  Maybe the root of the problem is not the food.  You could ask your vet about seeing a specialist too.  I hope your kitten feels better soon!

I Have A Cat Who Just Had Kittens Recently. They Will Be 3 Weeks On…

I have a cat who just had kittens recently. They will be 3 weeks on August 25th. I believe her milk is drying up. The last two nipples are the only ones the kittens want and there are 3 of them. The rest are hard. I have another mother cat in the house who is nursing her own 4 kittens that are 2 days older. Her supply is running good. Should I try and have her nurse the other ones? The mom cats don’t get along so I don’t know how it will work.

She hid after we got home then about thirty minutes later she came out when I put food out and ate. She played with our older cat for a little bit and then a couple of her cat toys. I recently lost three of my dogs that I’ve had for years and I am paranoid, It sounds like she’s having a side effect.
