you might try some tuna packed in water to get your cat to eat, I know what your going thru three months ago i had to put my 19 year old down and 2 months later i had to put my other cat down. both of mine had kidney faluer it,s a hard choice. but try the tuna packed in water, and best of luck.
My 1 year old American bulldog/border collie has been scooting her butt and licking her paws, had a previous ear infection with yeast present. How do I even begin to deal with this? I’m suspecting allergies….
Recently, my cat has had possible seizures. This only happens when he gets in a grooming position where he twists his upper body around to be able to lick his back. He then stiffens up, and falls over. A couple of days ago, he urinated on my bed while he was having a possible seizure. Are these seizures or a nerve getting pinched?

I have been agonizing over this for 2 days now. Last Monday I took my 14 year old cat to the vet because he had stopped eating and drinking. X-Ray showed what the vet thinks is abdominal cancer. After talking to my vet decided that surgery/chemo would not be an option for me and she prescribed steroids which may help and gave him fluids. He perked up a tad after fluids and would eat maybe a quarter to half a can of wet food a day. Since Friday though I have not been able to get him to eat anything (he did come out and lick the food yesterday but would not eat) and all he does is lay under the computer chair. He will not sleep in the bed with me which is something he has done his whole life. I plan to call the vet first thing tomorrow morning, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

Can someone Please help and advise. My 11month bulldog walter woke out of his sleep tonight and began an intense head bobbing movement- he seemed to be conscious i got him to follow me to his water bowl. This “episode” lasted maybe 3 or 4 mins i give him a small treat and he went back to sleep.. hes just woken and had another bobbing head episode. I read a few pages and give him a lick of sugar and he settled with me tickling his belly… has anyone dealt with this?? Im worried sick.

julie brader Hi Charlotte, I’m also in the UK …we answer questions on here from a lot of countries.
This episode with Walter needs Veterinary attention. We cannot diagnose on here but this could be anything from a seizure to a mini stroke to something lacking in his blood/diet…..and needs professional assessment to find out what is going on.
I hope Walter is ok and try to keep him calm and quiet until you can get him to a Vet later today hopefully. Good luck.

My female DSH is ~2yrs & suffers from allergies. She constantly has lesions on her stomach. She licks and chews effected skin often. Atopica doesn’t work. for her. I’m hesitant to use steroids for a long period of time. Suggestions?

Anonymous this might sound weird, but have you had her thyroid checked? a friend of mine had a young cat with excessive grooming habits and it turned out to be thyroid problems.

PK Dennis Have you gotten all grains out of his/her diet? No grains in food or treats. Find a grain-free kibble that lists real meat as the first 2 or 3 ingredients. Real meat will be: beef, lamb, elk, salmon meal, etc. Do not buy anything that lists “by-products” in the ingredients – they could be nothing more than feathers.
To help the skin heal you can rinse her once per day (short haired dogs, less often for long-haired dogs, you don’t want her constantly moist) with a mix of 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water. Allow this to dry on her skin.
Also if you have been using Benadryl try switching to a generic Zyrtec – it often works better for dogs.
For the active hot spots try Witch hazel with Aloe, you can find it in any drug store OTC, pat it on with a cotton pad and allow to dry – you can do this several times per day to help reduce itch and help the spot heal.
Good luck!
My dog is a 45 lb. German Shepherd mixed with American Terrier 7 year old suffering from something that I don’t know. This started about 4 months ago and has progressed to the point to where he constantly needs a cone on. He cobstantly agressivly licks his underbelly to the point where it has become raw and leathery.at times the area is red and swollen and others its is just leathery looking. Sometimes the area is moist and has a foul odor.recently he has started scratching his nose to the point to where he bleeds and when he is pet he favors those ares.please refer tot the pictures I have included. The vets gave him steroids and antibiotics buy that didn’t seem to help.We have also changed his food as recommended by the vet but nothing changed. the skin scrape of the area also came back negative for bacteria and mites. It sucks that I don’t know what the cause is, please help.
My dog has been lactating for 24 hours but she cannot reach to lick her bits, how can i help her as i do not want to lose her and/or the puppies.
My cat received a prednisone shot due to licking of hair on chest. Behavior has changed within the week. Eats only wet food and is sleeping on the stairs and rug in the basement. Seems very depressed. She won’t eat snacks or dry food.
I noticed yesterday that my dog was limping, and later saw that there is a cut on her hind left leg that was bleeding. I gently wiped away the blood, seeing that there is a strip about 5cm long that has no hair, which is where she was bleeding from. Since, she has been constantly licking at the area, and it is obviously painful for her to walk on it, or even when she is resting. The cut itself doesn’t look much like a cut at all, as it isn’t deep or (as far as I can see) indented at all. The only thing which is clear is that there is no hair in this area, and it seems strange to me that the hairless strip is straight, so I don’t think that she caused it herself.
She is a 5 and a half year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, crossed with (it is assumed) a Labrador – she was found by the RSPCA and they are not 100% certain what she is crossed with.
My 10 year old lab just started licking everything in sight and eating grass and whining non stop. Not how she acts at all. All she wants to do is eat grass
i would be taking him to the vet. this is very worrying.
