Thank you very much for the immediate reply. She is very active and eats well so far. I intend to ask our vet to do CBC
I just got a new 9 week old kitten. I got him the night before last. The Kitten is perfectly healthy in every way but one. It is eating solid and canned food. Canned food once a day and dry food through the day. He is drinking water. He is playful and active. Has urinated about 4 times. His belly is not hard. And he is sleeping well.
BUT he has not pooped yet.
The old owners said he pooped the morning of the day I picked him up. But that was Thursday and this is Saturday. I am worried. I wonder if it may be the stress of a new home, no mother or litter mates and two new cats. The one cage of mine has not taken to the kitten yet but the other is coming around.
I do have a vet appointment booked but I have anxiety and I worry.

The kitten was born ca. 4 weeks ago. it had two litter mates, one was born dead: The second one was totally normal, but found dead 3 days later in the morning. It had a wet/sticky mouth, but otherwise everything seemed normal.
The last one had also a wet/sticky mouth a few days later (ca. 1 week age) with little blisters on its tongue. Otherwise it was normal, it still got enough milk from its mother.
With ca. 2 weeks the kitten and its mother showed symptoms of cat flu, and it was also seen that the kitten was staying rather small, but otherwise normally developed.
The vet prescribed amoxcillin for both mother and baby. And an ointment for the eyes, as they were also affected. After 2 days the kitten had to be force-fed because it couldn’t suckle anymore. But it could be fed with the syringe without problem and ate with huge appetite. This was going for one week, with it’s general state of health being okay despite the cat flu. It had some discharge on eyes and nose, but it was otherwise still active and aware. He really is a little fighter, despite staying rather small.
During last week it finally seemed to get better, until friday morning we found it with heavier breathing. One eye was fine, the other closed with discharge. It still had appetite though. On Sunday the breathing was bad, but it could still swallow.
Today the breathing is really bad, it has to use its stomach to breath and also opens its mouth to help breathing (but no real gasping). It has difficulty swallowing and seems to have mucus in its throat. The nose is mostly dry, only few discharge. The infected eye has now a cloudy cornea, despite the eye antibitoics. It is also very restless, walks a few steps, then lays flat down. It’s easily seen that it doesn’t get enougn oxygen.
The vet said it most likely has developed pneumonia. It got something that should help its lung with breathing, and I should continue to give fluids and feeding as long as it will/could swallow. Of course it still gets antibiotics.
What can I do to help the little one with breathing? Should I let it inhale?
Depending on how it looks tomorrow I may have to euthanize it, as I don’t want it to suffocate :(.

My doe rabbit had her seconds litter and at day 12 after she give a birth when i looked to check on them they was all dead and i dont know why she was taking good care of them the only one thing i can think of is when she was running around the garden male rabbit tried to mate with her
She has a lot of falls while walking around and doesn’t come out during fay usually.. also is she still too young to mate?

Anonymous YES, she is too young to mate, and i would NEVER breed a dog with health problems! that’s irresponsible. spay her, please.
-
Anonymous to clarify: under the age of 2 is irresponsible, as the dog has not had an opportunity to mature properly. it would like letting a 12 year old girl have a baby. she isn’t mentally or physically prepared to handle a litter of puppies and it could cause her to have difficulties with nursing properly.
allowing her to breed when she’s unable to walk is appalling. i can’t fathom why anyone would consider this acceptable.

Anonymous i’m STILL disgusted by this post. i honestly cannot believe someone thinks this is a good idea.

Anonymous i applaud your optimism. knowing the standard of pet care in India, i can’t be that optimistic.
I Need Your Advise Regarding My 11 Months Old Persian Male Cat. The Problem Is…
I need your advise regarding my 11 months old Persian male cat. the problem is that my cat wants to go out for mating and if we do not let him go out he sprays and pees in the house which causes a very bad odor in the house. Now that we have let him out on his own he has started to spray around outside and you can smell the odor as soon as you enter through gate.
Secondly we have tried to set up play dates for him and lock both the cats in bathroom but uptill now he hasn’t mated.
Thirdly, there is a stray cat outside which is on heat all he does is that he sits beside her all day long and if we bring him inside the female cat starts to cry which make him go crazy to go outside.
Finally, I want to ask you about getting my cat neutered. The pros and cons of getting the cat neutered. I have heard from someone that the cat’s personality changes and we have to take care of him more because there will be a wound after his operation and all the people in our house go to work. Hence, there can be a problem in taking care of him 24/7.
I have 4 Khaki ducks, 3 female 1 male. We have seen them mate. I have a nest with 14 eggs in it. Can I candle them before she is done laying to see if they are fetile or do I have to wait until she goes broody and sits on them?
2 periods – no mating, 3rd period natural mating, after 48 days – dark green discharge – probably abortion. About 10 days before lot water drinking – beside that the bitch felt ok – eating normal, behaving and acting -ok.Brucelosa test -negative.E.coli found in vaginal secret test. – she received some antibiotics. We missed 1 period than naturaly mated. I think it was too early and for sure there was no pregnancy, but again – around 35th day after mating – lot of water drinking, discharge from vulva – dark bloody secret, no smell, after that turns in clear blood and gone. The dog was ok – no sign of illness. Now she is mated on 9.07., 11.07. and 13.07. – natural mating. Vaginal test – E.coli. Treatment 10 days with Nuroclav 250 mg once a day. Vaginal test positive for e.coli. Starting Amoxiclav – 500 mg on 12h dosage – 10 days treatment, testing and again is positive for e.coli .If she is pregnant now should be the implantation and body development – what is better to do – to stop the antibiotic, to continue or to change is with something else and what else – Zinnat for examle? This time she had a Herpes virus vaccine just in case that she have virus which is the reason for aborion, but i think the problem is in e.coli. I am testing the progesterone levels. Today was 68 ng/ml – normal levels for 3 weeks after mating
For how long shall I isolate my parvo puppy from her younger mate? She has her own room with a balcony upstairs, while the other pup lives downstairs. She’s sick from last Monday and I’m planning to isolate them for at least 1,5 week more.

Anna K So 2 more weeks. I don’t know if I’m doing things right, but always after leaving my isolated pup I change clothes and take shower (and force others to do so) so as to keep the little one safe. Is there something I can do more? I’m planning to bleach the upstairs tomorrow (last time I bleached the floors in the entire house was Friday).

Anna K Unfortunately not yet! Our Golden began 7th week yesterday and lab 9th (they were rescued), but vet told me last week that for vaccination both of them should be healthy. Therefore, I’m going to contact the clinic about this matter in the morning. What bugs me is Golden’s negative test result, which I hope was false negative as he developed all of the symptoms (yellow diharrea -> green -> Yellow + fresh blood and mucus -> dark brown. Now the stool is brown, some parts are darker, but the consistency is more solid / vomitting at the beginning, lethargy, refusing to eat and drink – he began to eat by himself on 4th or 5th day). Still I believe that physically our Golden was in a much better condition because I fed him with a syringe every 1 – 2 hours (even at night), while our lab didn’t eat at all while in hospital. And wasn’t force-fed either.
Still, I will wait next 2 weeks to be absolutely sure.
He is 8 weeks old, weighs just over 200g (his litter mates are all at least 600g) has a very soft and enlarged skull with pupils that face east west. There are no good vets here, certainly no vet specialists. Should I wait until he has gained weight before trying to medicate him (All the drugs can be purchased over the counter here and I am medically qualified) or should I start ASAP to help minimise brain damage? He is already blind. Or is the likely outcome so poor that I should be thinking about euthanasia? He seems happy enough at this point in time but cries a lot in the night and I don’t want him to be in pain.
