She Has Her Parvo Shots But Her Sister Passed Away From An Unknown Illness And…

She has her parvo shots but her sister passed away from an unknown illness and I’m just worried that she might have got It. she has been really stressed recently and she’s been staying at numerous peoples house until we get the area disinfected at her home and she has been eating a multitude of different dog food she is used to Alpo and blue diamond but at other peoples house she has been eating kibbles and bits could be what’s wrong with her and what do I need to do to help her get rid of the diarrhea is an online that before at night tell me that I needed to keep her away from food and water for 12 hours. This seems kind of confusing to me thing as whenever someone has diarrhea they need to keep fluids to stay from dehydrating I’m very confused as to what to do.

Hi Angel, you need to take her to the Vet urgently!

Never mind starve her, keep her away from water….this is a 3 month old puppy who has just lost her sibling from an unknown illness. Plus shes been here there and everywhere, fed different foods (why didn’t you get her food to send with her?)  and could have picked up any infection going. …now shes got diahrrea and is vomiting?

Why aren’t you at the Vet already?!

  2. Angel Medlock

The puppy that my friend was talking about on this post is not mine she doesn’t think that there’s anything stomach t
messed up I was just trying to let if she kept her away from water with her being as little as she is that she could get dehydrated really fast as much as she’s been passing diarrhea

  3. julie brader

Oh I see…..apologies to you Angel, you should have made it clear this wasn’t your puppy. Well I hope your friend takes her to the Vet urgently or she could easily lose her like her sibling.

  4. Angel Medlock

I’m sorry my keyboard is messed up what I meant to say I was just trying to let my friend know that keeping her away from water wasn’t going to do anything but dehydrate hurt and hurt her even more she asked 2 online vets and I told her to keep her away from food and water for 12 hours I did not believe that she should do this I was just trying to get confirmation from people that I know would give us the right information.

  5. Angel Medlock

The vet told them not to feed her anything or to give her any water what you

  6. julie brader

As our Vet Krista said…keeping water away from a puppy this young is dangerous! Shes just 3 months old…..dehydration can set in very easily at thaf age and she could die from it….shes already vomiting and has diarrhea..and already losing fluid. There is no messing about with puppies….this one needs a Vet now. I hope your friend realises that.

  7. julie brader

I don’t want to speak out of turn here Angel…but doesn’t your friend realise how serious this is? This pup could still have Parvo even though shes had her shots. Her sibling died…..this puppy is very ill and needs to see a Vet urgently. I don’t understand why people get dogs and then risk their lives…it astounds me

  8. Molly Bitch

Hey it’s my fucking dog and if you don’t like the way I’m doing shit the GET THE FUCK OFF THE POST THIS IS FOR SERIOUS HEARTFELT ANSWERS ONLY. If you have the money to send me to take my dog to the vet then by all means send it to me and I will take her because I had 4 dogs, my MEDICAL dog my husbands hunting dog, a dog that has been with me for 3-4 years, and this new puppy that was a rescue now then you don’t know the WHOLE STORY SO BACK THE FUCK OFF BECAUSE MY MEDICAL DOG WAS POISONED AND MY DOG THAT I HAVE HAD FOR 3-4 YEARS HAD TORN OFF HIS TOE NAIL AND SO I TOOK THE HUNTING DOG AND HIM TO THE FUCKING VET TO GET THEM TREATED AND SAFE THEN I GOT MY PUPPY AND NOW SHE IS DOING THIS SO BACK THE FUCK OFF AND DON’T JUDGE BECAUSE YOU CAN’T SAY SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING!!!

  9. julie brader

No need for the abuse. You asked for advice on here. You got it.

  10. Angel Medlock

Very rudely I might add. Also you were the one who called her out on what you seemed to believe was wrong. We asked for sincere heartfelt advice and your first comment was very sarcastic and rude.

  11. Molly Bitch

EXACTLY I don’t see how people like you are allowed around animals at all. My dogs would all bite you if they met someone so rude and judgemental

  12. Angel Medlock

What you have to understand is there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye. People are trying to poison our dogs my beagle lab mix as well. You made it sound as if we aren’t doing anything at all Molly has taken her dogs to the vet several times her vet I’ll as of this moment is incredibly steep. She loves her fur babies and treats them like her children. I can attest to this because her puppies visit me everyday. You almost make it sound like she doesn’t take care of them, but you’re seriously mistaken.

  13. Angel Medlock

And Cleopatra has been to the vet test came back negative for canine distemper, adenovovirus type two, parainfluenza, and the parvovirus that is why we tried searching online to see what could be wrong. Before you assume we don’t take care of our animals.

  14. Angel Medlock

That and we wouldn’t be searching online for help if we didn’t care.

  15. Molly Bitch

Hmm i’m blocked really this lady shouldn’t have stuck her nose into my business nice try though you wanna block somebody then block the one that wants to start the attitudes and sarcasm crap BY THE WAY MY DOG IS FINE SO DON’T RUN YOUR MOUTH WHERE IT AIN’T WANTED PEACE OUT

Yes, will be watching carefully. The first time I just found the “splat” and it was no telling where, who or what it came from. I’m assuming probably vagina but not sure (the second time I found it was on her bedding. She doesn’t lick anywhere excessively, there are no changes in drinking or urination, no other signs I can see. Once she left a tiny poop on the bed; found that in the morning, kind of surprised me. It was a tiny grumple and it never happened again. Doesn’t have diarrhea or mucous or anything wrong with the stools either. Had one little regurg few days back but it was normal in color and happened only once. No strange smells coming from her anywhere. No scratching, no head shaking other than what I’d consider normal.

It’s particularly the vinegar-like smell that really confuses me. WHAT smells like vinegar?

  2. Jana Post author

What would make it smell that way? Only those two times, otherwise it looks and smells fine.

  3. Jana Post author

No further funny discharge last 48 hours. Going in for semi-annual soon, so I’ll bring it up; as well as see the vet sooner if repeats. Strange, though…

What can I add…take the advice of the Vet from this website !!

  2. Ashley jenkins

thank you for answering, i took her to the vet. he said she didn’t have a fever a doesn’t have any abnormal discharge as far as he could tell. he didn’t seem too concerned at all, but he doesn’t know my dog like i do. i really feel there is something wrong. the pups are now 9 weeks old and arent really nursing anymore. when i let her out to play they basically attack her and try to nurse but i pull them off her and she growls and nips at them. but I noticed that after they do actually nurse a bit is when it seems like she doesn’t feel well. ive done research, gone to the vet and contacted other vets all with no answers. i don’t know what else to do

I have a 4 year old pit bull. The last few days he has been sluggish with sneezing, runny eyes and an occasional nonproductive cough. Today, I noticed two enlarged lymph nodes. No appetite or voiding problems. Our other dog is fine. He is not around other dogs. We live in the country and his yard time is supervised.

Yes so be careful with your pet try to avoid bee stings and poison ivy if they do get allergy give them Benadryl

  2. Cyndi Mattox

Oh he has terrible allergies just never noticed the lymph nodes before.

  3. Melinawantsa Cupcake

Yes give him Benydrl mix with water

  4. Cyndi Mattox

Gave him Benadryl. He is on the couch with his blankie now.

  5. julie brader

    Sorry pressed wrong button!

I don’t know what Melina is telling you to be honest but your dog needs more than Bendryl. This doesn’t sound like allergies to me it sounds like infection.  Sneezing, runny eyes, cough and enlarged lymph nodes, sluggish? ..you need to take him to a Vet before he gets any worse.

  6. Cyndi Mattox

He is on antibiotics so hopefully he will perk up soon. Thanks everyone! He has never been sick before.

  7. Cyndi Mattox

Thanks. He is on antibiotics now. That’s my baby so I couldn’t sit and wait. He isn’t happy right now because he got shots but a doggy cookie helped.

  8. julie brader

So pleased you saw Krista and my replies….I’m sure he will recover soon with antibiotics. Can i just say some Probiotic would help while hes on the meds. Natural live yoghurt on his food, a couple of teaspoons a couple of times a day. Hope hes better soon!

  9. Melinawantsa Cupcake

My baby got stung by a bee 2 times about every month so we gave him Benydrl , Benydrl is Medicean for allergy if u google it then u would understand but since it’s strong for him u need to mix with water like my baby

  10. Cyndi Mattox

I have probiotic tabs. Will that work? He really isn’t hard to give oral meds to.

  11. julie brader

Are they Probiotic tablets for dogs? If they are and you know the dose to give him then yes. I wouldn’t give him Probiotic tablets for humans though….I don’t know if they would be safe for dogs. I know you’ll be safe with yoghurt though.

Recently last Sunday i lost my son he was German Shepherd 3 yrs only.
Since last week Wednesday he wasn’t eating we took him to one vet care in but that doctor without taking his blood sample. Which i had a doubt on second day again we told that he hasn’t eaten anything please examine he didn’t just gave him injection.

He said that he is OK on last day we also told him that he is not eating and his poop was red and sticky he ignored it. Suddenly on Saturday night around 20:00pm he started showing neurological signs we cried badly we called that doctor he didn’t pick up .

We rushed our boy to other Vet but unfortunately he tried level best to save him but his body was having no fluid and he died on Sunday.

Please help me into this matter what made that we lost him he was very strong. PLEASE HELP ME so that i can know what made him to die.

I am so sorry your dog went through this, you must be devastated to have lost him in this traumatic way.

If you want to take this further then I suggest you write to the Organization who deals with Veterinary Complaints in your Country. I’m in the UK so don’t know who it is, but I’m sure you will find them online.

You would need to send all the notes/invoicss from the Vet who dealt with him and also possibly a Report from the last Vet you took him to.

It is really not ethical for us to comment about this on here. However, I am very sad this has happened to your dog. My thoughts are with you.

  2. Ankeet Bhatt

    Dear Julie .
Thanks for your valuable reply and yes it is very traumatic for us even we are hiding it to our dad who is in his business trip to India he loved him alot I don’t know what to do once he come should we tell him because he is a diabetic patient

  3. Anonymous

did you get a necropsy done?  that’s the only real way to determine what caused the death of your dog.

i am very sorry for your loss.  it hurts, when we lose them young.  i know your pain – i lost a puppy to a birth defect a couple of years ago and it still hurts to think of him.  please give yourself time to grieve.  if you truly feel the vet didn’t do everything he could to save your dog, then yes, contact the governing body in your country.  if your location is correct, and you’re in Tanzania, here’s the website: http://www.mifugouvuvi.go.tz/vertinary-council-of-tanzania/

Thank you so much Laura for your kind words and concerns also thanks for giving me the link of website

this is going to sound really, really weird, but…if you have grief counseling in your area, consider it. it was one of the best things for me. it really helped me deal with the death of my puppy. he was my first dog, and the suddenness of it was such a shock to the system that i really didn’t know what i was going to do or how i was going to recover.

    i wish you solace, Ankeet.

I’m so sorry for your loos.I’m just Pomeranian owner and don’t have enough experience about dog.But I had same disaster and I just want to sympathy with u.
My 3th months Pomeranian died 5 months ago. He had same signs (red poo.don’t eat.throw out some foam from his noise)soooooo bad and I just cry all of the time. That was distemper one of the worst and deadly dog’s illness. His vet did any things he can.2 midnight we keep him in ICU.some nights use pulmotor .I tried to help him and I believed he could survive But he Could’t he died and made me lonley..
I’m so sorry abou it 🙁

  7. julie brader

Counselling helped me too Laura though my boy was 16 and had always been there. Its very hard to deal with.

  8. julie brader

Honestly is always the best policy Ankeet. If you dad your dog died for another reason you will have a lifetime of keeping a secret from him. You did all you could it wasn’t your fault. I lost a puppy from our last litter due to a Vets mistakes and the nurse who was looking after her. The Vet admitted it and paid compensation…but it didn’t bring her back. I do know how you feel and I would take Laura’s advice and seek counselling to talk it through. It does help. Thinking of you x

  9. Ankeet Bhatt

Well I can’t know if it’s too late to examine his body because he died on sunday 30th Aug 2015 now I don’t know if it’s body will be ok or not if yes then I will go for examining the body so that the other Vet who gave injection should be stopped from practising his services he is not a qualified one I think so .

I’ve just read the article and agree with it too Laura. I’ve felt that grief myself and its easily as deep if not deeper than losing a family member. I’m feeling it agajn through my dear friend who has just lost her Great Dane from bone cancer. I wish i could help her through it but its your own private hell of pain.

  12. Anonymous

people who say “it’s just a dog” or “it’s just a cat” or hell, “it’s just a turtle” really don’t understand. and i pity them. they’ve never experienced that kind of love or grief.

there needs to be more dialog about the grief that comes with losing a pet.

I Have A Cat Who Just Had Kittens Recently. They Will Be 3 Weeks On…

I have a cat who just had kittens recently. They will be 3 weeks on August 25th. I believe her milk is drying up. The last two nipples are the only ones the kittens want and there are 3 of them. The rest are hard. I have another mother cat in the house who is nursing her own 4 kittens that are 2 days older. Her supply is running good. Should I try and have her nurse the other ones? The mom cats don’t get along so I don’t know how it will work.

Hello,

I’m From Germany And I Have A Queastion Regarding My Ca. 25 Year Old Cat…

Hello,

I’m from Germany and I have a queastion regarding my ca. 25 year old cat. Her true age is unknown as we got her from a shelter. She was in good health and my vet couldn’t believe her age.
She was diagnosed with pancratic cancer in October 2014. It was a random find, as she didn’t show any symtoms.
It was already around 5x4cm in size and I decided for surgery with the option of putting her down if it looked to bad.

The tumor was a solid mass in the pancreas. Small nodules were found in the surrounding tissue, but alls the other organs looked fine. The tumor was removed, which was easy duw to not being connected too much to the surrounding tissue.
My vet told me that the prognosis was still poor, with most patiens not surviving more than 6 months after diagnosis.

Whisky woke up normally and had no problems with eating/digesting afterwards. She was totally fine until after 10 months – in July 2015 – a new small tumour was found, around the size of a cherry.
We decided to wait how fast it will grow, as she still showd no signs or symptoms.
Las Friday on August the 8 I could feel that the tumour had grown fast – now back to old size. I drove to the vet and he confirmed that.
I knew if it grew so fats she would only have around one month more if it would start to cause her pain, so I decided for surgery again. She still was fine, always wanting no live and don’t show signs of old age.

This time it looked bad. Upon opening her up she already hat blood in her abdomen. The tumour was necrotic, starting with „tyrosis“ and half of the pancras was infected. The tumor started to fall apart when he touched it. Addiotionally not only th surrounding tissue had metastases, also the peritoneum now had some nodules. The other organs still looked fine. My vet said it looked very bad, normally he would put her down now, as the progmosis now was more than poor.

I still wanted to try it, and he did his best. Sadly she died during the wake up phase. Most likely it started bleeding again and she died of blood loss.

My vet told me that she would have died during the next days either way due to blood loss and infection during the next days. I now ask myself if she would still life if I didn’t have decided for surgery.
Or is what my vet said right and she would have died the next days either way, with that thing falling apart inside her. I trust my vet, but I have the feeling that I’m resposible for her death, that I have killed her somehow.

If needed I can provide pictures of the masses.

Thanks a lot for reading this wall of text!

    HI Shiria,
First, very sorry to hear your cat died. My thoughts and sympathies are with you.

When a pet dies like this, it is normal for us to think it was our fault, or something we could have prevented. It sounds like you went above and beyond with vet care and did everything you could have done for your cat. Surgery is always risky, but so is choosing to not do it and see what happens.

I’d take comfort in knowing that you gave this kitty a longer life by helping her the best you could.
I’m sure that your cat would have wanted to have every option at living and it sounds like that is what you gave her. It sounds like from what your vet found inside of her, that she was very very sick. Like you said, she seemed fine and didn’t show any signs of old age. But animals are not like people, they hide illness very well till the bitter end. She sounds like she was a wonderful kitty.
I’m sorry things didn’t work out and sorry for your loss,
    ~kelly

  2. Shiria Post author

Thanks a lot for your answer! It helps me a bit… In my head I know that most vets would have put her down after that finding inside of her… and that alone from what it looked like it had to be painful.

But still, there is that voice that tells me “you should have taken her home and made her the best days she ever had”. She would still be here,,, I could still cuddle her, hear her voice, feel her next to me. Yes maybe she would have died the next time either way, but I would have time to say good bye. While this maybe is true, how would she have died? Alone and in pain while I’m at work? That is not what I would want for her…
And than there is that tiny voice that tells me, that maybe her body would have found a way to build down that tumor and stop the bleeding, that maybe she would have weeks or months…

My head knows that the possibility for this is near zero… Maybe making her some good last days would have been the most logic decision… maybe I would have felt better… Or maybe I would ask myself then, that she maybe would have survived surgery if I had just tried it.

I guess no matter what my decision would have been, I would have felt guilty… I just want to know if my decision was right. And there is no definitive way of telling that…

Thanks so much for reading my long text… It somehow helps me to talk to people that udnerstand the pain…

He has severe anxiety & is afraid of everything. he’s always been this way. His fur is falling out, he has hard black patches all over, and soft pink skin showing I’m other places.
