nope, i cant afford visiting a vet
my cat keeps meowing while looking at me, licking my arm and hugging my leg… And all i can do is pet her…. And then she stops, sits quietly. I know she’s in pain, her cries show it clearly but still i can’t do anything to help her.

And then she stops, sits quietly… But when she does it all again. I know she’s in pain, her crys shows it clearly but still i can’t do anything to help her. It’s upsetting.

Anonymous unfortunately, he may be nearing the end of his lifespan. i HOPE he’s okay overnight. i HOPE he will be fine and he’s just sick. i might try to keep him warm overnight, and i’d rush him to the vet first thing in the morning.
-
debra yuhasz The lifespan for rats and mice is about two years even with the best of care. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Keep him warm and get him to the vet as early as possible.
He has went to bathroom fine but he didn’t eat or drink like he usually doesI have a 6 year old male Yorkie. He has been acting funny today he usually plays well with our puppy but when the puppy got near him while he was sleeping a been snapping at him like he is in pain or something and my 6 year old daughter lays with hI’m at night and to ugh she was petting him and he was yelping out in pain and I was talking to him and he looks like he is in pain but I don’t know what’s going on. He hasn’t done this before so I’m a little scared something is really ally wrong with him but it is so late and every vet is closed
there are no clear wounds and he doesn’t scream when you feel along his body and legs, just at random times maybe when he’s moved or especially when picked up.
Being in such a rural area the owner (cambodian) does not seem to understand that his pet could be really hurt on the inside etc

Dawn Ferara, DVM The only thing you can do is try to convince the owner to take him for help. Also, you can see if there is an agency similar to Humane Society or SPCA who can get the dog looked at
-
Bonnie Lowe Yeah I’m hoping I can do that
-
Bonnie Lowe I have also sent the vet in the area (found one online) a message to see if he can give me advice

PK Dennis It could be a spinal injury which is VERY painful, and it will need pain medication and rest to recover.
My pet rat front paws or feet are a bit scraped up and were bleeding but Isn’t anymore, plus one side of he’s face is puffy and swollen, what do I do?
This is a serious question, I’m curious. I feel that pet food these days isn’t that nutritious, and dogs and cats should be hunting for their own food instead of being given this crappy foul tasting “wet food”. In the future, I wanted to buy rabbits, mice, and rats and put them in an enclosure with my dogs to teach them to hunt. Would this be legal? Because I don’t see anything wrong or inhumane about this seeing as people buy live mice for their snakes to eat. So why don’t we do this with dogs and cats? Surely wet food isn’t as good for them?

Anonymous instead of buying them from pet stores, look into reptile supply. they will sell frozen/thawed. i also cannot say this would be a nutritionally complete diet. better to fully research raw feeding and put meals together that ARE nutritionally complete. besides, your house pet does not need to learn to hunt…and depending on the breed of your dog(s), they may fail miserably in this task. feed a high quality kibble or feed raw, do not feed live rodents.
and yes, this is considered inhumane, especially considering how it’s basically one step away from animal fighting. can’t you see how that is problematic?
it’s inhumane to feed live to reptiles, too…inhumane and irresponsible, as the rats are just as likely to do serious damage to the animals they were intended to feed.
i cannot fathom why you would only give wet food to your dog. does your dog have a lot of missing teeth? or is there a medical reason you’re feeding wet?

Anonymous oh, and another thing: cats are an invasive species, especially in the UK. they already kill too many animals for sport. they do not need to be encouraged to kill for food.
-
debra yuhasz A domestic dog is not a wolf even though they may have ancestry in common. A domestic dog does not have the digestive tract of wolves. Raw fed dogs are fed raw meat but they are not expected to kill their own. Personally my dogs eat what I eat as I feel that pet food is sadly lacking. This includes meat, fish, vegetables and a small amount of pasta and rice. I do not eat rats or mice and I wouldn’t give it to them either. Of my seven dogs only two have a small amount of prey drive. I can’t imagine any of them would know what to do with a raw kill. As for snakes….they are a wild animal. I did have snakes many years ago and they ate live rats and mice because they wouldn’t eat anything else. Dogs are not wild animals.

ポプシクル I’m sorry, Laura, I don’t understand where you’re coming from with the whole “inhumane” thing. It wouldn’t be animal fighting purely for entertainment, no. I wanted a hound or working dog to help me to hunt rabbits. Animals are subjected to awful, cruel torture in the meat industry, so I wanted to kill the animal myself. God knows what the chickens in the supermarket experience before they end their miserable lives. Hunting isn’t “inhumane”, it’s natural and incredibly humane compared to the torture that humans put animals through. I feed my dog wet and dry food, but it just seems so nonsensical to me. Hunting would be entertaining for me and the dog.
-
Anonymous It wouldn’t be for entertainment but it would be for entertainment.
Your ethics are in question. Be glad I lack ban powers. People who justify allowing their animals fight for their personal amusement disgust me.
-
ポプシクル There’s nothing wrong with enjoying hunting, is there? It’s nature, we’re omnivores. So cats disgust you because they hunt birds? I’m not saying I would go out and maim an animal for no reason. That’s sick. Why would I get banned just because we have different opinions? I really don’t see what’s wrong with it, honestly.
-
Anonymous cats should not be outside. they are an invasive species and have hunted many native rodent and bird species to the point where they are endangered. letting cats outside is irresponsible, plain and simple.
you said you wanted to do this for your entertainment as well as that of your dog. THAT IS PROBLEMATIC. how can you not see this?
-
ポプシクル I’m sorry, I don’t understand. As a person with aspergers, I find it hard to understand other people’s points of view. Stopping a cat from acting out its natural behaviours is cruel. Hindering it from going outside would be like keeping a dog inside. It seems ludicrous to me. Whereas it’s instinct that cannot be stopped for cats, humans are more of an invasive species that hunt thousands of animals to extinction.
And I am sorry, but I still don’t see how it’s problematic at all. Being out in nature and killing and sharing a meal with my dog is better than eating processed meats is all I’m saying. Sorry if I seem blunt or rude, I’m really not good with communicating. I don’t want to offend anyone c:

PK Dennis I don’t mess around with eye issues, I would flush this eye with a plain saline solution (you can buy it in any drug or box store, find it in the eye care section) and it that doesn’t do the trick over night I would make a vet appointment – telling them it is an eye issue so they don’t push you off.
My pet rat Hasn’t really sneezed as bad only like once or twice for the past week he’s been here, but just now he was sneezing a lot over and over, he’s better now, but should I be worried?
Friends, my beagle, Abby is on bed rest and will be for 6-8 weeks. It’s been a little bit over than a week and I think she is getting fussy/lonely. She would always howl and bark during the day & night. As much as we want to keep her company and be with her 24/7, it’s hard because we all have school, work and other obligations.
When she first started doing this, the family thought there was something wrong and rushed to her side but she just wants to be petted and see people. It’s getting very annoying to having to wake up at 1am because she won’t stop howling or barking, especially when we have to wake up the next day, and sometimes (this is what’s told by my vet) we would ignore her because she has to learn that this might be her life now for a long time and she needs to learn how to self sooth and accept the fact that no one is there to clean her poop or pee right a way…
I understand where my pet is coming from, we cannot communicate with them and they cannot communicate with us. My dog is probably terrified out of her mind as to why she cannot move and has to stay, and truths to be told, I would be bored too if I had to stay in bed for 6-8 weeks. We’ve tried our best to keep her company when we can, but if any owners out there can provide us with some advice as to entertainment wise for pets (maybe a bone she can snack on without gaining so much weight), or some kind of a toy that can keep her entertained, it would be much appreciated.

dakoda peterson Try diapers for one. For two give that dog as much attention you can when your home. Do not give up.

debra yuhasz I didn’t read back so I don’t have all the details, but I’ll bet your dog is terrified and looking to you to fix it. Is she in pain? Dogs absolutely do communicate with us. If I told you some of what my dogs do you’d be convinced. All animals communicate with people but you have to “listen”. Her barking and howling and having to soil her crate have her totally stressed and frightened, Her whole life has changed. Your vet should be giving her something for anxiety. Same as with people…stress is a killer. Her howling is a cry for help. How can you ignore that?
are you certain this is pain? cats tend to hide when they’re hurting. what does your vet say?
