Hello-
I would get into the vet for an exam and probably an X-ray or ultrasound ASAP. I just would not want to chance it- and I would definitely spay her for her benefit and everyone’s peace of mind. Best of luck.
I have a female cat, around 4 years old. I had noticed she was gaining weight, or so I thought, as her belly was starting to get really round. She is not fixed but there is no chance of pregnancy. I have now noticed that she seams to have a discharge and quite a bit of it. I have read that it could possibly be an infection. Vets are quoting me around $3,500. Due to covid 19 my hours at work have been cut so I can not afford all of that up front. I doubt I will be able to get approved for care credit and if so I will not be able to get approved for that much. So I’m wondering what other options I might have? I dont want to loose my baby girl and it may be coming down to rehoming her to get the care she requires right now. What can I do to at least try to keep her comfortable during this?

Is it normal for a cat in heat to have abdominal swelling? My cat is 3 yrs old and we have been meaning to spay her, but she goes into heat so often it’s hard to find time to do it. She is currently in heat and has been for over a week, and last week she had shown asymmetrical swelling on the left and right of her belly. The next day it went down so I figured it was nothing serious and probably swelling from being in heat. Now it has been a week she is still in heat and her abdomen seems just ever so slightly fuller on the right and left and firm. She is crazy in heat and doesn’t show any signs of being sick, acting normal, eating drinking, playing and jumping.
Is it possible for a cat in extreme heat to cause extreme swelling of the ovaries to where they would be palpable? I’m worried it could be early signs of pyometra, or if this is normal with heat. Her cycles have gotten more intense and extreme, as well as longer and more often, which makes me think it could be possible her reproductive system is simply engorged with blood causing it to be palpable.
If that (the swelling) is not normal with heat then I’ll take her to the vet ASAP, but again she is not grossly distended, she just appears “full”. Also there is no chance of pregnancy. Thanks.

Hi, my pregnant dog is on day 65 and 28 hours ago her temperature dropped to 97.8. For the first 13 hours she showed little discomfort. Following this she began to pant and had loss of appetite, and also began to dig in her nesting area. In addition there were several breaks in which she would sleep. These are all stage one symtoms. However according to many articles, she should have gone into labour already. Should I be worried?

Erika Formosa It’s not quite our first breeding however it is the first with this dog and everything seems to be a little different. She’s just sleeping normally now again as if she’s not actually in labour. I will try and call an emergency vet however it is 1am where we are right now and our vet system in Malta isn’t so great….
Does my dog look pregnant? She has signs of pregnancy like nesting, big stomach, throwing up, more lazy, not eating as much, drinking a lot, swollen teats, etc. When I feel her stomach she flenches, and I can feel little movements. She also get wide eyed at times. Not sure if she is, can’t take her to vet. She also walks around then gets back in her box multiple times at night, lays on her stomach too.Don’t know what to do and dont know how long she has if she is pregnant until labor?
So ten weeks ago my cat escaped while she was in heat. And now she gained weight and her nipples are swollen. She’s been eating alot lately. She’s a young cat and i read that a pregnant cat vomits during the beginning of her pregnancy but my cat hasn’t. Now I don’t know if she’s just bloated or pregnant. Can you help me please ?
Towards the end of my dogs phantom pregnancy I noticed she was itching her top left nipple quite a bit. I automatically checked for fleas as you do when you see a dog itching and no sign of any. Knowing I had recently given her flea treatment it was probably unlikely to be fleas so I’ve just kept an eye on it checking her everyday.
It does’t seem to be bothering her too much but she had caught her nipple from itching and caused it to look a bit sore.
I am unsure if it is related to the phantom pregnancy as I haven’t noticed her to itch anywhere else on her body other than that particular nipple and her phantom pregnancy symptoms seemed to be worse this time round, she did produce quite a bit of milk. I want to know if i can do anything to help?
Hi my rabbit has given birth sometime today, she was left with us by a friend only yesterday so we were unaware of her pregnancy. How do we tell if the babies are fed? What other precautions we should take?

Chun Li The babies are currently placed separately with beeding and fur to prevent Mom from stepping on them accidentally. I’m not sure if that’s right to do. Two babies altogether, one is well fed but the other one has a flat tummy. I have tried placing it back to Mom but she did not feed it. Any advice on that? What should I observe about the babies?
Hello! My Gerbil (3 – 6 moths), Pregnant, and female, seems to be having some slight problems. She is bleeding in her anus (butt – hole), and a dark red blob (small) seems to be stuck in her anus, and is not budging. She is acting normal, eating normally, and all that. Does this have something to do with her pregnancy? Will she be okay? Someone please tell me… I don’t want to lose her and her babies 🙁 🙁

Kayla-lynn Doherty Take her to the vet sweetie! No matter if it’s an animal or person, bleeding from the butt isn’t good.. It could be many things, but with her being pregnant, you need to get her to the vet ASAP.
Sending healing vibes, and prayers your way.
Hope everything works out, and that she has her babies, and everything is perfect!❤️
2 periods – no mating, 3rd period natural mating, after 48 days – dark green discharge – probably abortion. About 10 days before lot water drinking – beside that the bitch felt ok – eating normal, behaving and acting -ok.Brucelosa test -negative.E.coli found in vaginal secret test. – she received some antibiotics. We missed 1 period than naturaly mated. I think it was too early and for sure there was no pregnancy, but again – around 35th day after mating – lot of water drinking, discharge from vulva – dark bloody secret, no smell, after that turns in clear blood and gone. The dog was ok – no sign of illness. Now she is mated on 9.07., 11.07. and 13.07. – natural mating. Vaginal test – E.coli. Treatment 10 days with Nuroclav 250 mg once a day. Vaginal test positive for e.coli. Starting Amoxiclav – 500 mg on 12h dosage – 10 days treatment, testing and again is positive for e.coli .If she is pregnant now should be the implantation and body development – what is better to do – to stop the antibiotic, to continue or to change is with something else and what else – Zinnat for examle? This time she had a Herpes virus vaccine just in case that she have virus which is the reason for aborion, but i think the problem is in e.coli. I am testing the progesterone levels. Today was 68 ng/ml – normal levels for 3 weeks after mating
Hello. I recently got a dog by a woman who said she could no longer take care of her. The lady said that she also thinks the dog is pregnant. About 3 weeks later her abdomen had grown and her nipplez were easily seen under her fur. I really thought she was pregnant but yesterday I noticed she was licking herself and she was bleeding. Later a male dog came to her. Nothing happened though. Was this her gaining weight because of regular meals and she’s in heat or is there some pregnancy complications
Hello,
I would call everyone you can and ask for help. I do not charge an exorbitant fee for this and I am not alone. Call rescues, shelters and everyone you can you ask for help that you can afford. In the interim call your vet and ask to be seen. If you can or afford surgery perhaps you can afford fluids and antibiotics . and hopefully this will be enough help to get her through this and then spay her ASAP. Surgery is best But antibiotics are better than nothing. Call your vet and ask for help you can afford. Please let us know what happens and please share it in the story section of Pawbly so others can benefit from your experience.
I have been making calls all day. Only thing I keep getting pointed towards is care credit. So I am going to continue to try to do what I can. Ievenbrokedown and created a go fund me. Hoping combined efforts will help. Thank you!
Hello. At least get fluids and antibiotics started. At my clinic this would be $45 exam, $25 fluid kit (1 liter fluid bag will give you 10 sq treatments) and antibiotics which you can get for $10-20 at Walmart. Go to the vet ask for a fluid kit and written antibiotic prescription for the most affordable antibiotic you can get. I think that for about $100 you can at least give your cat a fighting chance. Find a low cost spay and neuter clinic after the infection clears. That’s my honest low cost advice. Please let me know what happens
I have a friend who has a family member that owns a vet clinic. She is going to work with me to try and help until I can gather the funds needed for the big stuff. I have created a go fund me to help gather the funds needed. Thank you.
