I’m sorry for your experience. Truly
I have a 13 week old puppy. He’s been fine but he just threw up his food and now he’s quivering. He’s urinating fine and he had a good bowel movement not too long ago. I’m concerned. What should I do?

I just watched your video about the high er costs and I am enraged as well.
A few years ago I called to find out an estimate for a possible C section on my Newf as she had a stuck puppy. They first said they had to see the dog to give an estimate, but when I pressed them they gave me an estimate of 2-6 K! This is highway robbery, especially since I KNOW from folks I know who have worked there that the vets there are inexperienced just out of school vets who have no business working on their own at an overnight clinic.
How can a surgery that would cost around 1-1.5K in the daytime cost 6K at night?
I ended up driving way too fast 140 miles to another vet clinic who does their own er. They got the puppy out without a c section. I doubt the local er would have been able to do that, so not only did I save my bitch from unneccesary surgery, but I saved thousands of dollars.
Besides the outrageous prices these clinics charge, I think it is criminal that they hire inexperienced vets to be on their own at an overnight clinic. To me that is malpractice.

I had my puppy in my arms today and he jumped out of my arms and landed on his head and seemed to have a seizure straight away it came out of it but is breathing very fast through its nose and they are not deep breaths and his stomach is moving when he breathes its really rapid. He also doesn’t seem to want to move and is having a hard time standing and walking
We have an ~ 4mos old puppy who testicles became inflamed and/or infected recently. He has had some diarrhea as well (was diagnosed with roundworm and treated), but otherwise has been acting fine. Blood work showed his was slightly anemic and his WBC was slightly high. Thyroid test was normal. UA was normal. Urine culture showed two different types of bacteria, but they decided it was contamination and didn’t treat one of them since it was only susceptible to an antibiotic that isn’t good for puppies. He was already on Doxy which would treat the second bacteria. Brucella screen was negative. He was neutered the other day and the testes were filled with blood. They were sent to the pathologist and a culture was also submitted (results pending). They also ran a distemper test as well as a different type of Brucella test (results also pending). Torsion was ruled out. Has anyone seen anything like this? Are there other tests we should ask about running to figure out what is causing this?

How long should you wait to play with a boxer puppy (almost 8mos old) after they eat? I’ve read about bloat and am trying to nail down our morning routine.

I got a puppy from the shelter two days ago and I noticed he has worms what do I do
My puppy got a bloat as he ate today but is sleeping and shows no sign of pain ! What to do ? Is it major or will go on its own ?

Anonymous I would never treat bloat as a normal issue – if this is true bloat, the dog would be pacing and obviously uncomfortable.
I would plan to get your puppy to the vet today, to be sure nothing’s wrong.

Sandra Sellers I’d have to know exactly why you think they were bloated as that would come with a lot of signs and distress. Sometimes when puppies lay down on their sides, especially on a full stomach, their belly can look bigger but that doesn’t mean they are bloated. If you are truly concerned a trip to the vet is always the best response.
Hi
Can u please tell me how many times should I feed my 14 days Labrador puppy?
My Golden Retriever puppy of 87 days does not eat his food but if it is mixed with his treats he eats it why? And how to make him eats his food.
If he’s only vomited once, I think I’d wait and see. If he vomits more, I’d be on the horn with the vet.
I would keep an eye on him for now. If his mood changes (i.e. lethargic, depressed, etc.) vomiting continues or if he starts having diarrhea I would take him to see a vet.
Has he had vaccines? Chew on toys? I agree one more vomit and take him to vet.
