We have had our female Shitz Tuz Mandie for 3 years, she was a rescue dog from a nasty place. She came to us scared of people, it took us a full year to gain her trust, and she can still be skiddish around others. The 1st yr we had her we noticed what looked to be a bug bite, a few days later we had a home visit from a local vet who checked her out, gave her shots etc. We pointed out the bite which had by that time turned into what looked like a boil, which had popped earlier that day. The vet said it was due to fleas, and gave her drops, which we keep current. Ever since that bite she has been chewing herself raw on that spot. We couldn’t find anything there, no bumps or marks that would cause it to bother her. We did notice that her skin in that spot discolored a little. We thought it could be from her licking and chewing. A few months went by and she continued to chew, we switched her shampoo to low sud/oatmeal soap, and switched up her diet to Nutro dry food, no chicken or corn. and that hasn’t helped. Its gotten to the point where she doesn’t want to play, and she sleeps more, may be because she sit up at night after we are sleeping chewing. Her skin is now bright pink all over and her chewing has now moved to any spot she can reach. Any ideas on what is causing this? And, what I should do. Our vet’s here are extremely high dollar vet’s and we just can’t afford a $1,000 vet bill. Please help I feel so bad for this little girl.

My puppy went on a short, hot hike yesterday. Today he is very lethargic and lays or sits down every chance he gets. There is no vomit, diarrhea, discolored tongue/gums, and he is eating and drinking. Should I worry about the lethargy?

I changed my bettas water two days ago and this morning he would not dance for me and I noticed his gills have a red tinge to them. He is active other than not dancing for breakfast and doesn’t seem to have difficulty breathing. All my reaserch come up with Ammonia burns but that doesn’t make sense with it happening after a water change instead of in dirty water.

He lives in a 3 gallon bowl that I do a 75%water change on weekly. I put aquarium salt in the water as well as conditioner and let it sit in the same room as his bowl for 2 days. I am very worried about him and need to know how to help him as I am leaving today for the weekend and have to give my mom instructions on how to medicate and care for him.

i tried twce today and the first time i understood cause it was drizzling and he doesn’t like to get wet anymore, but the second time it clears up kinda cloudy but good and he refused to go down the stoop steps and when he finally did he didn’t want to walk just stand there but when i went to sit down he decided to sit next to me and enjoy the weather and get some good love and petting, i know its probably just him wanting more time with me and he does like to enjoy weather sometimes stopping on walks for along time but today was odd he just refused and when i finally said lets go upstairs he rushed ( well as best as he could) to go back up, i know lots of people are home today and he loves to be home with everyone but i was worried and didn’t understand why he wouldn’t want to walk he’s decided on his usual indoor potty today

my cat keeps meowing while looking at me, licking my arm and hugging my leg… And all i can do is pet her…. And then she stops, sits quietly. I know she’s in pain, her cries show it clearly but still i can’t do anything to help her.

I found my mouse sleeping, and when he woke up a bit after and he was just sitting there, he was shaking,i tried to feed him oatmeal and he didnt eat, he started shaking and making a clicking sound and it sounds like its hard to breathe for him, and currently im holding him in my arms but i can’t take him to a vet until tomorrow afternoon.. anyone know whats happening to my pet mouse? will he survive until tomorrow?

Hi, we are sitting for some friends and Pedro the pincher mix seems to be trying to cough something up. we think its bark from a tree. is there a home remedy for us to try?

She is a 5 month Pomeranian. We have taken her to the vet and was prescribed some tonics. But still there is no change. She also loves to eat paper and anything else she can get her paws on. She still hasn’t understood commands like SIT, STAY, etc. I am 15 and she is my first pet.

-history, my ex husband and I got her at 7 weeks old. He already had a lab (approx 8 months old). We separated and I was able to keep my girl, he kept the boy. She has had 2 litters. The first, 11 puppies all healthy- the second, all passed away. (The litters were in no way planned) Not directly after the second litter but within a year she started getting severe ear infections. She was fixed and treated for yeast infections for the ears- she never full relief. After a couple rounds of antibiotics my vet recommended getting blood work done as well as allergy testing. Turns out she is allergic to 21 different things and is in the early stages of kidney failure.

I am taking complete care if her medical issues and spend a good amount of time with her. We go on morning walks, I come home at lunch and take her out, we go on evening walks, and she sleeps in my bed with me.

She is the sweetest pup I’ve ever known, but she is overly clingy. At first it was cute but now anytime I move, she moves. I walk into a different room, she follows. I go to use the bathroom and she sits at my feet. Literally, if she could, she would crawl inside me. Again, I love my pup, I’m just concerned this is not healthy.

Any advice??
