Surely you must have a veterinary ER or 24-hour hospital or an on-call vet somewhere? These are SERIOUS symptoms.

My Parents Have An 8 Month Old Chihuahua That Has Always Been Very Energetic, Playful…

My parents have an 8 month old chihuahua that has always been very energetic, playful and loving. All of a sudden she became extremely lethargic, seems unbalanced, dry nose and she is constantly licking her chops and from time to time opens her jaw wide and paws at the inside of her mouth. It’s been a couple weeks now and she is not back to normal. She’s been to the vet twice and they can’t find anything. Could it be neurological or possibly something in her mouth they can’t find?

Did they check bloodwork, or consider sedation in order to explore the back of her mouth, soft pallet?  I would consider a second opinion, if not…

  2. Whitney Grim

Blood work and xrays came back normal and they did sedate her and check her mouth. The only other option is to find specialists and my parents just can’t afford it right now. Not sure what to do from here.

Chelsea you need to take her to a Vet to find whats causing this. Your dog is in great pain to the point of causing swelling when she tries to defecate. Please don’t leave her like this any longer, she needs help.

  2. Chelsea Sweeney

Yes, I know this already. I have an appointment this week but in the meantime trying to find something that might give her relief as I am very aware that this is painful for her.

My Girlfriend And I Are Getting 2 French Bulldog Puppies. How Long Do Use A…

My girlfriend and I are getting 2 french bulldog puppies. How long do use a crate after they are done housing training? I feel once they are house broken they should be free to roam. She feels they should always have it.

Hi Brian……..its your decision of course but I would never advise anyone to get two puppies at the same time. Wait until the first one is 18 months or so then get another one.

Anyhow…..back to crates. Its really up to the individual whether you crate your dogs or not. They are very useful though. Never use them as a punishment, crates should be a happy place for dogs to go. If you cover them, leaving the door section uncovered they make a great “den” and dogs love dens.

If you decide to carry on with the crates after housetraining you can leave the door open for the dog to go in and out as they wish. If you need to go out and make sure the dog is safe pop them in the crates. Its really not fair to leave a dog locked up for hours though. You can buy water bowls which clip on the crate so the dog has water too.

Unless you are absolutely certain your dogs will be safe to roam around the house, plants are gone so they can’t chew on them ect then I would definately keep the crates.

Good luck and have fun with your puppies!

  2. Brian Adrian

Why do you suggest waiting to get the second puppy? Our biggest fear is the puppy having seperation anxiety and feel with two puppies (siblings) they would comfort eachother.

I leave work at 6 and am home by 4, my girlfriend leaves work at 8:30 and is home at 5:30 but plans to come home at noon to let them out. How long is too long to have them in the crate?

  3. julie brader

Hi again Brian, I understand your logic of having two puppies if you both work. Make sure you get a nice big cage so they have room to move-and think of them as adults when you buy it.
This is my personal opinion and I probably shouldn’t be airing it here lol
Having a puppy is, believe me, like having a baby in the house. To care for one puppy, housetrain, basic training, socialising and financial costs (believe me there will be) is very hard work and time consuming. To do all this for two is twice all of the above.
However, if you and your girlfriend are both prepared to dedicate a lot of time and effort to a puppy each it would work.
As for how long to leave them in crates….I know people leave puppies and dogs in them day in day out. Yours would have to be in crates for quite a while as you both work.
I guess its up to the owner but you may have problems with housetraining them….puppies ideally need to be put outside every hour or so for them to get the message.
I’m probably the wrong person to ask about this as I wouldn’t let a puppy go to someone who works all day…..again my personal opinion.
You seem to have given this a lot of thought and I’m sure it will all work out….it will be hard work for you both to start with though.
So good luck and enjoy your dogs.. I hope you have many happy years together. ?

I am so very sorry to hear this. How sad for you.

If she was bleeding like that it sounds like some sort of poison…..possibly Rat Poison. You wouldn’t know for sure unless you had a necropsy carried out by your Vet though.

  2. alex aza

thanks very much. unfortunately we already bury her.

Hello, you don’t say if this is a dog or a cat ect.

Any animal this young showing these symptoms needs a Vet urgently. Please take Bella straight away or she could well die if you don’t. This could be Parvo Virus….but whatever it is she will not recover without professional treatment.

Good luck and I really hope little Bella is alright.

  2. karolina dabrowski

Please rush to the vet!!! Give her plenty of water not food.

She Has Her Parvo Shots But Her Sister Passed Away From An Unknown Illness And…

She has her parvo shots but her sister passed away from an unknown illness and I’m just worried that she might have got It. she has been really stressed recently and she’s been staying at numerous peoples house until we get the area disinfected at her home and she has been eating a multitude of different dog food she is used to Alpo and blue diamond but at other peoples house she has been eating kibbles and bits could be what’s wrong with her and what do I need to do to help her get rid of the diarrhea is an online that before at night tell me that I needed to keep her away from food and water for 12 hours. This seems kind of confusing to me thing as whenever someone has diarrhea they need to keep fluids to stay from dehydrating I’m very confused as to what to do.

Hi Angel, you need to take her to the Vet urgently!

Never mind starve her, keep her away from water….this is a 3 month old puppy who has just lost her sibling from an unknown illness. Plus shes been here there and everywhere, fed different foods (why didn’t you get her food to send with her?)  and could have picked up any infection going. …now shes got diahrrea and is vomiting?

Why aren’t you at the Vet already?!

  2. Angel Medlock

The puppy that my friend was talking about on this post is not mine she doesn’t think that there’s anything stomach t
messed up I was just trying to let if she kept her away from water with her being as little as she is that she could get dehydrated really fast as much as she’s been passing diarrhea

  3. julie brader

Oh I see…..apologies to you Angel, you should have made it clear this wasn’t your puppy. Well I hope your friend takes her to the Vet urgently or she could easily lose her like her sibling.

  4. Angel Medlock

I’m sorry my keyboard is messed up what I meant to say I was just trying to let my friend know that keeping her away from water wasn’t going to do anything but dehydrate hurt and hurt her even more she asked 2 online vets and I told her to keep her away from food and water for 12 hours I did not believe that she should do this I was just trying to get confirmation from people that I know would give us the right information.

  5. Angel Medlock

The vet told them not to feed her anything or to give her any water what you

  6. julie brader

As our Vet Krista said…keeping water away from a puppy this young is dangerous! Shes just 3 months old…..dehydration can set in very easily at thaf age and she could die from it….shes already vomiting and has diarrhea..and already losing fluid. There is no messing about with puppies….this one needs a Vet now. I hope your friend realises that.

  7. julie brader

I don’t want to speak out of turn here Angel…but doesn’t your friend realise how serious this is? This pup could still have Parvo even though shes had her shots. Her sibling died…..this puppy is very ill and needs to see a Vet urgently. I don’t understand why people get dogs and then risk their lives…it astounds me

  8. Molly Bitch

Hey it’s my fucking dog and if you don’t like the way I’m doing shit the GET THE FUCK OFF THE POST THIS IS FOR SERIOUS HEARTFELT ANSWERS ONLY. If you have the money to send me to take my dog to the vet then by all means send it to me and I will take her because I had 4 dogs, my MEDICAL dog my husbands hunting dog, a dog that has been with me for 3-4 years, and this new puppy that was a rescue now then you don’t know the WHOLE STORY SO BACK THE FUCK OFF BECAUSE MY MEDICAL DOG WAS POISONED AND MY DOG THAT I HAVE HAD FOR 3-4 YEARS HAD TORN OFF HIS TOE NAIL AND SO I TOOK THE HUNTING DOG AND HIM TO THE FUCKING VET TO GET THEM TREATED AND SAFE THEN I GOT MY PUPPY AND NOW SHE IS DOING THIS SO BACK THE FUCK OFF AND DON’T JUDGE BECAUSE YOU CAN’T SAY SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING!!!

  9. julie brader

No need for the abuse. You asked for advice on here. You got it.

  10. Angel Medlock

Very rudely I might add. Also you were the one who called her out on what you seemed to believe was wrong. We asked for sincere heartfelt advice and your first comment was very sarcastic and rude.

  11. Molly Bitch

EXACTLY I don’t see how people like you are allowed around animals at all. My dogs would all bite you if they met someone so rude and judgemental

  12. Angel Medlock

What you have to understand is there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye. People are trying to poison our dogs my beagle lab mix as well. You made it sound as if we aren’t doing anything at all Molly has taken her dogs to the vet several times her vet I’ll as of this moment is incredibly steep. She loves her fur babies and treats them like her children. I can attest to this because her puppies visit me everyday. You almost make it sound like she doesn’t take care of them, but you’re seriously mistaken.

  13. Angel Medlock

And Cleopatra has been to the vet test came back negative for canine distemper, adenovovirus type two, parainfluenza, and the parvovirus that is why we tried searching online to see what could be wrong. Before you assume we don’t take care of our animals.

  14. Angel Medlock

That and we wouldn’t be searching online for help if we didn’t care.

  15. Molly Bitch

Hmm i’m blocked really this lady shouldn’t have stuck her nose into my business nice try though you wanna block somebody then block the one that wants to start the attitudes and sarcasm crap BY THE WAY MY DOG IS FINE SO DON’T RUN YOUR MOUTH WHERE IT AIN’T WANTED PEACE OUT
