It looks like ring worm, which can be transmitted from dog to human (and other species of animals). The vet could best diagnose the skin condition.

Dog Vomiting. They Did Blood Work, Abdominal X Rays And Radiographs But Found Nothing Abnormal…

dog vomiting. they did blood work, abdominal x rays and radiographs but found nothing abnormal. His stomach became bloated and he wouldn’t eat much. We have him on a bland diet but it’s a struggle. He is still drinking water, hasn’t vomited and has only pooped once per day since. He’s very lathargic, doesn’t want to go on walks and acts very tired. His breathing also became heavier and the vet said they weren’t sure what it could be but they could do another x Ray to see. Should I bother? Is a chest X-ray or a sonogram worth doing? I’ve been feeding him pumpkin, chicken and rice and the vet prescribed I/d digestive care dog food but he won’t touch that.

Your dog is in distress and does need help by getting figured out what’s going on and getting it addressed. Since your vet seems to be at a loss, I’d likely seek a second opinion from another vet.

Please No Negativity Here. Let Me Explain The Situation. I Live With Roommates And I…

Please no negativity here. Let me explain the situation. I live with roommates and I have 2 females and she has 2 males, I had my females before she got her males. Anyways, we had separated the males from the females at the end of May. I don’t know how I missed all the signs, denial? I don’t know but it wasn’t until July 5 when I noticed that her teats were getting bigger and realized she was pregnant and didn’t know how that could have happened as we had separated them and the reason why we separated them was because we were going to get them fixed through a program but they couldn’t do it until the middle of this month so we thought it’d be best to separate them. Anyways, at around 1130pm on July 13th I heard a lot of cries coming from outside as if to say an animal was in distressed, so I went outside to check on my two and they were both acting very excited and my pregnant girl disappeared into the back yard where it was dark, so I grabbed a flash light and followed her and that’s when I realized she was in labor, she was panting heavily and found herself a spot.

So I picked her up and took her into a bigger spot where I can keep an eye on her and I waited with her. At 1:30am July 14, she had her puppy but only 1 so I thought okay, we got lucky and only have to find a home for 1 puppy.

Now today she is still crying and panting and keeps licking her vulva, is that really normal? I’m just very concerned with her and right now she is crying too. I need advice please.

Sorry it’s been forever ago since I posted here. Had my hands full. Ok, I took Chloe to the vet and they told me she was fine even t he though she wasn’t acting herself.

She had only 1 puppy, I have an appointment to have my other dog and my roommate male dogs as well but of course they won’t fix the mama dog until her puppy is weaned at 8 weeks and everything. Chloe seems to be doing much better though

I will be keeping the little guy as his mom refuses to feed him anymore and I have been bottle feeding him since he was about a week and a half and he is now 3 weeks old as of yesterday. I just haven’t decided on a name for him yet.

I am adding this special little guy to our family, his name is Buddy and he is so advance for his little age, it is so cute and adorable. I just love him and he is an awesome addition and his mama has a spay date as well.

We Adopted A Dog Three Months Ago From A Reputable Shelter Who Swore She Was…

We adopted a dog three months ago from a reputable shelter who swore she was spayed and say they have the records for the surgery. Three weeks ago she started showing signs of being in heat, we took her to the vet and they said her hormones and blood showed signs of being in heat as well. She seems to be following the patterns of a normal heat, with the bleeding first and then yellowish discharge and now bleeding again, but it seems to be longer than a normal heat? Tomorrow marks three weeks since she started bleeding and after the yellowish discharge/lessened blood she just started having a darker red discharge again. I’ve read a few articles that says this is normal, but I’m worried both about the timeline, as it seems longer, and the fact that she was supposedly spayed. The vet said they could possibly have missed an ovary during the procedure, but I’m not sure as to the next step because the vet didn’t seem sure about anything, and could not give me any definite answer.

is this vet the one recommended by the shelter?  i would consider getting a second opinion.

that said: normal heat cycles SHOULD last 3 weeks – a week of straw-colored discharge, a week of bloody discharge, and a week of brown, thinner discharge.  if she’s going through a second cycle i would be concerned about possible underlying health problems.

  2. Brigette Ruhland

No, this was an emergency vet by us we took her to when she started bleeding- obviously we thought it was something awful because as far as we knew she had been spayed. They basically said they thought the shelter lied to us and she was going through a heat cycle. Should I just take her to yet another vet? She seems to be following a normal pattern of heat in as far as everything I’ve read online, it just seems prolonged.

i absolutely would take her to your regular vet – she should have an established history with one by now anyway. 🙂

I Spoke To An ER Vet And She Suggested Withholding Food For 24 Which…

I spoke to an ER vet and she suggested withholding food for 24 which I did from Sunday morning until Monday morning. Her feces was light brown and accompanied by undigested red blood twice. Today her feces is dark brown (darker than usual), but no undigested blood and I don’t think there was any digested blood (black blood).

My dog, Kayla, is a usually healthy 12 year old mutt. I checked her temperature rectally yesterday and it was 100.3. Using the pinch test between her shoulder blades, she does not seem dehydrated. I have also felt her gums for dehydration and they are just slightly sticky, but they are a normal color. I am monitoring her water intake and that is normal.

I also started her on liquid probiotics yesterday. Just a little mixed in with the chicken and rice. I realized that I was over-feeding her the chicken and rice on Sunday morning when I spoke with the ER vet so I have drastically reduced her feeding when I starting feeding her again this morning (Monday). I am just giving her a tablespoon of the mixture every couple hours.

My questions are when should I start to introduce her dog food back into her diet and do you think it is necessary to visit the vet? I know it is always a good idea to visit the vet, but last time Kayla had an upset stomach, it ended up being close to $500. Thank you!

The main question here is – has the diarrhea stopped? If it has, the problem might have “blown over.” If it continues, comes back, or anything else crops up such a lethargy or vomiting you do need to see a vet.

  2. Ashley Ridout

Thank you all for your help! I went to the vet today and since she is still healthy, the vet bill was only $150. I received an antibiotic and an anti-diarrhetic. I am so thankful that you took the time to answer my concerns. I thought I could get her back to normal the old-fashioned way, but you all were right and I am glad I visited the vet. Hopefully the meds will clear things up 🙂

what does your vet think about it?  since they know the circumstances of the seizure and the overall health of your pet, i’d ask their opinion first.

  2. Sue Bona

You may need to help him eat and take him outside more often until he gets used to functioning without being able to see
