well this is a normal thing in puppies as their teeth begin to hurt as this is the time when they fall off and new ones start to grow, but you can try telling him “no” when he does this, you can also leave him and walk away as if you don’t want to talk to him. but don’t pull your hand from his mouth aggressively because he will think that you are playing and will keep doing it. but the best option is to buy him a rubber bone and give it to him when he starts biting your hand until his teeth stop hurting him and he will stop biting eventually.

You may also want to look into a basic puppy obedience class. It is a great idea for multiple reasons…socialization, training of basic manners, bonding, etc. I highly recommend it. Best of luck with your new puppy!!

I would contact your Veterinarian or if your Vet is recommending surgery don’t hesitate to seek a second opinion. I happened to find a wonderful Vetrinarian whom I trust very much when surgery was recommended for a condition that my dog had. Best of luck!

I would recommend seeing your vet, they should be able to give you all options available for this mass. If you are not happy with your vets options get late second opinion.

My great pyrenees has parvo, He is a little over 15 wks. we took him to the vet to be hospitalized. What are his chances of over coming this? Its day three, the vet called us today and said that he just vomited. I just hope we got him in fast enough.

Every dog and every disease is different. Hopefully you caught it very early and he will only need to be hospitalized for a minimal amount of time.

Although I agree with Krista my general rule of thumb is the larger the puppy, and the faster the disease is diagnosed and treated the better the chance of survival.
Good Luck parvovirus is a nasty disease.

My German Shepherd, Butch, Developed A Bump On His Eye This Morning, Literally In The…

My German shepherd, Butch, developed a bump on his eye this morning, literally in the span of about an hour. We had our regular morning routine, which consists of a walk and lots of cuddles for the dogs. I know he did not have anything on his eye then. We brought my oldest down to the bus at 6:50, and he did not have anything on his eye then either. When we brought my two younger kids down to the bus, I noticed he had a sort of angry, red pimple above his eye. I cleaned it off with warm water as soon as we got back up from the bus stop and it sort of “popped” a bit as soon as I put the warm compress on it. It was a bit of clear fluid/blood, but not that much. A little bit on the paper towel, that’s it. It has not gotten any bigger at all today, has not drained at all and does not seem to be bothering him. Any thoughts as to what it could be? I’m thinking if it is still there in the morning that I’ll be bringing him into the vet to make sure it isn’t anything serious. I’ve uploaded a few photos, but they aren’t very clear. It really looks more like a pimple than the photo shows.

As fast as it appeared my guesses are insect bite or injury. Although it is impossible to diagnose any skin lesion without examining it. I would recommend watching it for changes and if it is not looking better by Friday have your vet look at it.
    Good Luck

Thank you. It is almost gone this morning, so I guess it was just a bite or scratch of some sort. I’m still watching it and will bring him in if it changes again.

Best advice is to take him to a vet because this sounds more serious than just cuts/scratches on his back. His prognosis is going to depend on the hamster’s age and the ultimate cause of his problem.
    Good Luck!

Cat Keeps Peeing/pooping In The Basement; I Have A 12 Year Old Cat Who Has…

Cat keeps peeing/pooping in the basement; I have a 12 year old cat who has been peeing/pooping in our basement. She has done this before a while ago but stopped the habit after changing her litter. Then this past summer we took down our shed and much of its contents are currently in our garage where her litter box is. Soon after, she started refusing to use the litter box. My mother got tired of cleaning up after her and put her outside for the summer. (She is an indoor/outdoor cat)We’ve recently let her back in due to the cold weather (after 4-5 months I’d say) and us being out of town for Thanksgiving. It was easier to get someone to feed her that way if she’s in the house. At first she seemed fine and had no issue. We were more careful to clean her litter box more often. And coming back from Thanksgiving we found pee/ poo in the house again. We don’t want the litter box in the house because she is usually messy with it and there really isn’t any convenient space in the house for it. I don’t think it’s a urinary infection because she hadn’t gotten back into the habit until we tore down the shed. We aren’t going to get her checked out because it’s expensive and we are pretty positive its the stuff in the garage.I am just not sure what to do anymore to correct this. She’ll get put in the garage for the winter if she doesn’t stop this act. I think come this next summer we’ll put up a new shed but until then I’m not sure what I can do. But if this keeps up she’ll be kicked out of the house again.

First and foremost, I would make a vet appointment. Just to make sure there is nothing really wrong internally with your cat. I understand there is a cost, but it is important. If you really feel strongly that it is the shed remnants causing it, perhaps finding a better place to store them would help? Also, if you could try to keep her litter box area clean and free from other debris (I know my garage is full of all kinds of tools, bikes, and who knows what else gets stored in there) as well as making sure to change her litter regularly and keep her box cleaned, this may help out. Our routine is to go into the basement each morning where the litter box is and empty it out first thing. It has gotten so that now after time, our cat routinely goes in the morning around 6:30 and we clean it out shortly after. Every Sunday we change the litter and clean out the box. In all fairness, cleaning the litter box out each day is the least that should be done. Honestly, would you want to use a toilet that hasn’t been flushed? Me either. Good luck!

I agree – get her to the vet. Indoor/outdoor cats NEED more veterinary attention than indoor-only cats due to their exposure to the environment.

Do keep in mind, ignoring her care IS neglect, and is a crime in most states. Don’t neglect your cat’s health because it’s inconvenient.

    Hello.
No one but your vet can answer this appropriately. Too many variables like disease, diagnostics (or lack there of), and your cats physical health influence this answer.
Please call your vet and ask for clarification on the duration and use of the medication they prescribed. It is part of the exam and office fee you paid for and they are the best source for your cats ideal care. Also ask about diet, exercise and supplements to help avoid future episodes.

My Dog Does Not Move His Back Legs Normally, This Afternoon He Ran And Jumped…

My dog does not move his back legs normally, this afternoon he ran and jumped as always , but in the night I want to take him for his walk and I’m notice that his left leg looked strange as numb and walk a bit odd , when I went to check his leg I’m notice that he had the tendons were tight and caused him discomfort when pressing them strong, when the stretch and moved it looked completely normal when he got up again, note that his right leg was like walking a little wobbly too, he is not dragging his legs , He stood on four legs but the back looked shaky as if weakness and alternated his weight from one leg to the other .He seemed to tire, He walk and jump into bed and lay back, he don’t have fever or breathing difficulties, and so far it has made their physiological needs normally. I am very worried, it’s late at night and do not know what I can do and I cannot go to the vet at least not now!? I do

Hi I’m so sorry your dog has injured himself. If you cannot get him to an emergency Vet could you possibly cage rest him? He could have seriously damaged something and the less he uses his back legs the better. If he needs to go outside to the toilet you could also support him under his tummy with a large towel to keep the weight off his legs until you can take him to the Vet for a diagnosis. Please do try and take him to an emergency Vet if you possibly can though. I do hope he will be OK and you too…they are such a worry aren’t you they. Good luck!

  3. Sarah

Hopefully you got him in to see a vet. It may just be a strain or pulled muscle, but I would have a vet diagnose that. Best of luck.

Hi, I Have A Four Year Old Patterdale Terrier. He Has Started To Attack The TV…

Hi,

I have a four year old Patterdale terrier. He has started to attack the TV when I watch cooking shows. He jumps at the TV and starts to try and bite it. We have tried putting out of the room and bringing him back in once the show has ended but he starts moaning if he is out of the room for too long.
Could I have some advice on how to stop this behaviour?
Thank you

    Hello,
There seems to be something about either the noise, the color, the characters, etc that bothers or interests him. It only happens on cooking shows? If so I would try to offer toys, lots of exercise and start conditioning him by offering a toy, a fun treat or something he loves when he starts to react to the show. It might also help to start training him to not be so reactive by turning the song all the way down and working on him acclimating to the show without noise, or try to turn the picture down. The point is to gradually keep exposing him to rhe stimuli at very small doses and not react to him when he reacts to it. Often owners worsen the anxiety or issue by yelling or reprimanding their dog. Never reprimand or yell it always makes things worse. And avoiding the tv will not help the situation and it may instead perpetuate it into other shows or even the tv when it’s not on.
Your dog is upset about something wrt the tv or that show help him work through it so you can both go back to enjoying your favorite tv shows.
Please also ask your vet for a positive reinforcement trainer. Often they will pick up on clues and provide tips you aren’t recognizing or understanding.
    Good luck

    Hello,
I do not know what is wrong but if there is ever any sign of having trouble breathing it should be considered an emergency and you should go immediately to a veterinarian.
